Hey Y’all! Welcome to our page, we are so excited to share our farm adventure with you!
Here is a little about us: We are located on a small farm in Erwinville, Louisiana. Many of our animals are rescues from local animal shelters, as well as surrendered livestock animals from our community. We take them in, show them love, and serve as their temporary home till they are ready to be apart of your herd and family!
We also raise Dairy Goats and American Mini Pigs, keep an eye out for some beautiful babies this spring and fall! Thanks for stopping by!
Poydras Bayou Farms originated in the summer of 2015. "Little barn with lots of love!"
Well folks, just like yall I came to this channel looking for a recipe AND the process. This young man did well explaining and demonstrating the process. I think I will use the recipe out of the Ball book for orange jam. As this will be my first attempt canning any type of citrus imma stick with the Recipe given. Good luck ya’ll!!
Awesome! We have started our little farm 10 months ago. A lot to learn 😅 It’s coming along well I suppose. We have 4 Duroc hogs, 2 Julianna pigs (piglets any day now), 2 potbelly pigs, 41 New Zealand/Californian rabbits, 90ish quail, 24 laying hens, 20 broilers, 3 ducks, sadly 1 Guinea left, a few roosters, 3 honey bee hives 🥵, 3 Anatolian shepherd and 1 Pyrenees female and she had puppies! So now we have Anatolian Pyrenees pups (4, we lost 2 😢). We had 19 goats, Nigerian dwarf, Nubian, and Pygmy, we decided to sell them because we lost two to barber pole and neither one of us are home until late and things take a turn pretty quick (we both work 14 hr days currently) momma takes care of and homeschools the 3 kiddos. I love my momma ❤. The kiddo’s personality take care of and sell: Holland lop bunnies 1 buck, 1 doe Lionhead bunnies 1 buck, 2 doe Mini Rex bunnies 1 buck, 2 doe Hedgehog 1 male, 1 female Technically the potbelly pigs are theirs. They breed and sell these for some pocket change and to keep the supplies rolling in for those. They even “broke away” from me and mommy 😂😂 started their own farm with a different name 😆 they are 12,9,5. Silly kiddos! They took a $600 loan out from me and mommy “Hey Daddy, we need to borrow some money to start a farm at the back of the property” LOL!!! Anyway we bit off a little more than we could chew but we got it down to manageable after the goats were sold. I had to make a decision and didn’t want them all to suffer because I wanted to be selfish. All of the animals currently are healthy and happy…. And the kiddos haha… so everything is going well here. My biggest issue is fencing… always need more fencing!! I’m happy to see y’all doing this too. I wish I would had started in my early 20s instead of my early 30s (I did work out of state until 1-1/2 ago so anyway) I’m going to follow y’all and hopefully see more going on. I don’t have social media platforms aside from RU-vid but I’ll see what I see when you post here. Stay safe!
22:20 Calf Milk Replacer 1 tablespoon of Apple cider vinegar helps to prevent scours Currently on two bottles a day, with a little feed and hay. Hope this helps!
We used to have 3 orphaned calves and their names were Moe, Laurie, and Curly after the Three Stooges. They would run to us when we brought out the bottles! (Kinda like my ex husband! 😂)
We cut the cord to prevent is getting caught on something and ripping off. We do clean off the babies, this helps with survival rate. BUT birth is natural and God did not make animals to rely on humans. Mom can do all this on her own. But if we can be there to help her along the way, we do so. hope this answers your questions!
Very good presentation. I just got my first fresh eggs the other day. The only instructions I got was was before eating, and refrigerate after washing. My question is, do you use soap or just plain water? TIA
I loved watching this! Our sow had piglets in June and we now have the runt in the house as our pet. Her name is Mable. She was so tiny and was only getting the “hind tit” so we took her away from Poppy (her mom) at about 5-1/2 weeks old. She immediately started thriving in the house with us. She’s now bigger than the other 6 from her litter and she lives a life of leisure. We had her spayed because not doing so is dangerous for a female pig, which I’m sure you know. I’m subscribed to your channel now and I’m looking forward to seeing your awesome videos in the future! Thank you for your content!
I have 12 healthy mature Satsuma trees in Pascagoula Mississippi Gulf coast. I am wanting to make Satsuma flavored spicy pepper jelly! I don't know how much sugar to add to my 8#'s of sweet satsumas. Can you please help me out?
Bravo! From a Poitras to a Poydras! Same familly name, different spelling. I like gardening and stuff too, dont have a farm but it is a dream. You should look up Yannick Van Doorne and is vidéos about électroculture. He has some in english now also if you dont understand french. I have had nice results, better then grocery store produce results. All organically grown with an atmosphérique antenna! There is more then that in his applications.
How cute is Willow. I had a mini Willow too. She would nibble my toes. It was the cutest thing. To this day i can still feel Willow nibbling on my toes. Good luck guys with your homestead. Keep it up!!
