But also you must consider the possibility, that those rebels will attempt to go in towns and armored vehicles will play a part in stopping their maneuvers. I do agree that other APCs the Philippine Army has like the V-150s, which some units are still with the Philippine Army should already be retired and transfer to the PNP service, particularly with Saf, since their unit could possibly take over as the country's security force in combating the remnants of the local insurgency needs. Well, the dilemma for the Philippine government is choosing between having less quantity of Multi-Role fighter or use the budget they have in acquiring more units of the newer FA-50 block 20 which cost less than F-16 and Jas-39 Gripen. If the budget is sufficient, this project has been concluded years ago, but sadly, it's not only Paf that needs the AFP Modernization budget, there's also the needs from the Army and the Navy. The Fact is, Lockheed Martin, Saab, and KAI is doing their best to sway the project in their favor, and this has been what's happening for the last months.

can you please compare with FA-50Block 20 with Chinese J-10CE ?
@bonscue2438
@bonscue2438 7 месяцев назад
J10 only difference with the FA-50Block 20 is the powerplant, the J10s powerplant thrust is almost twice the FA50 powerplant thrust. This means more payload capacity, J10 can have a maximum take off weight of more than 19,000 Kgs, while the FA-50's can only carry more than 12,000 Kgs. But in electronic suite, the newer block of FA-50 is comparable to the J-10s. The block 20 has added electronic counter measures, the fighter already has a digital link system, but it will be for the operator to choose which digital link system they will install on the FA-50s. The Block 20 can already deploy beyond visual range missiles like the Amraam which is already comparable to the J-10s PL-15. Both aircraft has mid air refuelling capability, the only difference between the two, as I said earlier is the powerplant they used. But KAI decided to stick with the F-404 so the aircraft will have a compatibility with the other two variants of Golden Eagle, the T-50 and the TA-50 which also uses the F-404. Thanks for commenting.

In hindsight, the newer block of the FA-50 is already an Mrf in essence. The aircraft can perform the same thing as a dedicated mrf though the only difference is the payload, an Mrf like the Fighting Falcon and the Mrf can carry more than an FA-50. But, the bigger the aircraft, the bigger the amount it needs for flight per hour and with this the FA-50 will end as economical to operate. Thanks for commenting.

Yes, FA-50 is lighter than Gripen, and if the upgraded variants will use the F-414 engine it could reach mach 2 speeds. Though there is one thing that Gripen has that the FA-50 doesn't have, Gripen is a STOL (Short Take OFF and Landing) aircraft. Gripen can land and take off at a maximum distance of 400-500 meters and can use roads without necessary support like putting arresting gear mechanisms to shorten the landing distance, it doesn't even need drag chutes. American-origin technology like the F-15 and F-2(JASDF derivative of the F-16) will still need approval from the United States Government, this is the same with Romania in 2014 when they have 12 F-16 Block 15 from Portugal and this year 32 F-16 Block 15 from Norwegian Air Force, the transfer proceeded after the United States Government has given the approval, this is called third-party transfer. The only approval that the United States government has given to the Philippine Air Force is for the sales of 12 F-16 Block 70/72. Though we believe because of EDCA and those additional 4 bases that were agreed upon this year, much more leverage will be now given to the Philippine Government, especially in terms of equipment. @bonscue2438
@bonscue2438 Год назад
Actually, that's the reality in defense spending, like most of our ASEAN neighbors did, their economy is more robust than what we have because they used their agriculture as a fueling factor for it. Both Vietnam ang Thailand are one of the worlds top exporters of rice, Indonesia and Malaysia has minimal deposits of oil and gas. We, don't have the same luxury actually, the sad thing with our fiscal needs, we solely rely on revenues and taxes, and we are one of the worlds top importers of agriculture products, imports that used foreign currency. Unless something will improve with our agriculture, industry, and the economy in general, we will have minimal defense spending, there's the fund but it's not enough for everybody. We can have defense spending, which is a vital thing for the country, but it will not be sufficient to provide for all the AFP branches, it's not only the air force that needs modernization funding, but the army and navy too. The thing that this country is experiencing now, being bullied by a much powerful neighbor is because of the country's neglect for sufficient defense spending for many decades, now we see the results of it. The country is trying to catch up with modern equipment for Afp but as we said earlier, it's not enough for everybody. Thanks for commenting.

@bonscue2438
@bonscue2438 Год назад
The latest number of both LCA and Mrf are already revised, though we're not in freedom to specifically state the exact number, but the number submitted now by Paf already reflects the "reality". It's good to have more Mrf, but the reality is it's expensive to "sustain" them. The amount to sustain one Mrf is already equivalent to sustaining two LCA. Our economy is not that big compared to other countries operating Mrf, they have "tons" of money they can use while the country only relies solely on fund given by the government every year with little amount from the proceeds of military land use (BCDA). And this type of fiscal support actually will not help in acquiring, even in sustaining modern Mrf, yes we can have Mrf, but not that many as we all wish and defense is not the primary concern for government allocation every year, it's all for education and social services needs. Unless our economy will improved that much, which our neighbors are doing so to support their militaries, we can't really sustain a modern armed forces. Thanks for commenting.

The FA-50 design before, is a single seater aircraft that is designed as a light fighter and it's called an F-50. But KAI opted for a two seater configuration in the end because they want this aircraft primarily as LIFT( Lead In Fighter Trainer), those are the aircraft where a pilot would train first before transitioning to Multi-Role Fighter Aircraft. But the latest variant of the FA-50 if we check the specifications is already a Multi-Role Fighter Aircraft. Poland is buying FA-50 to replace their Mig-29 Fulcrum which is an MRF, that's how good this aircraft is for them. And if advancement on the F-404 engines will be available for the FA-50 or they will be using a more powerful new engine for this aircraft, it can reach mach 2 speeds. Thanks for commenting.

these are just possibilities none of these are confirmed yet, and lastly weak president lbm is not serious so just keep your expectations low. Stop speculating and start researching about reality

In fairness to the current administration, in his first year alone, his administration has provided a total of 45 billion Pesos AFP Modernization Fund ( 27.5 Billion AFP Modernization Fund + 17.5 Billion Unprogrammed AFP Modernization Fund). The amount provided by his administration this year alone is already 52% of the entire AFP Modernization Fund of the entire 6 years of the late President Pnoy Aquino and 23% of the entire 6 years of the Duterte administration. And we will agree with you, just keep the expectations law, because if you're following the entire AFP Modernization program even in the 90s, a lot of hope are vested in there and it ended in dismal failure. Because one dictative factor is the economy, if the country's economy does not prosper in the coming years, it will affect the country's defense expenditures, that's the reality. I would agree with you, but I guess the thing is, we are getting there eventually. This is also the reality of the level of economy we have, the truth that defense is not the primary concern on our yearly national budget, the defense expenditures is only the 5th in the country's annual budget and not too much fund is available on it. Actually the three branches of AFP are vying to have that slice of defense budget so not everything they want can be accommodated at the same time. We need the economy to improve so our defense expenditures will also improve and this is true to regional military powers, they have a robust economy and this will reflect in their militaries. We're now making a presentation with subtitles, and maybe in later times we will also try to make an audible presentation. But what matters is the content of the topic we are presenting. But thanks to your suggestion too.
