Thank you for the effort to make this available for us to view. Much appreciated. Can't say I've seen much video footage of popsicle DX's which was enjoyable to watch.

What a fine gentleman and model railroader. And Audrey, a great supporter of Ray. Both sorely missed. Both great friends, had the pleasure of many great talks, and took his daughter for two entertaining cab rides . Liked ( Love) the videos. Original 4 windowed cabs(DX), 😍decent trains and oh wow! guardsvan's !👍👍 Thankyou

Things that have (mostly) disappeared since this was taken: DQ locos, Mechanical alarm bells, Corn Cobb locos, twin DBrs in Fruit Salad, searchlight signals, Ganz Mavag Units in blue, North Island DX's, elephant-style locos, North Island DXr. I cant say I miss the Cato blue liveries tho. And I didnt spot any EE units.

I lived in Pukerua Bay toward the end of the 20th century and spent a lot time watching trains between Plimmerton and Paekak. It's nice to see a lot of footage from around that area at about that time. The late afternoon weekend goods heading north were generally long trains (usually two of them) and in the summer I watched them from the beach. It was a nice place to live.

I'm loving these videos, especially the telephoto shots. I'm also very impressed how Mr ? can get from certain scenes to the next one so quick . Although years ago when these trains rain there were speed restrictions on trains going through the Paekok to Pukerua Bay tunnels....But still...😄

Careful planning and lots of luck. I did a few paces in the late 80's with my son videoing on the ECMT and Kinleith Branch. Traffic was much lighter those times but even so it only took one slow road vehicle to wreck the best plans !

I will ask but doubt it Gareth, the guy tended to follow the Twins initially and chased trains out of Wellington north to about Otaki and back.... I will put up everything I can and you may see something I dont know accurately.... Regards Mike😌😀

I swapped some of my early vids from that era with Dave Allen who was a keen rail enthusiast back then. Once I get this set done and tapes from two other families I will take a look at it. It was still in the horrible VHS times and most vidcams were terrible.... But still its history. Regards Mike

Thanks Peter, spent a year here in 2003, went back to my homeland in the Eastern Waikato for some years but came back to Palmy 8yrs ago. Have enjoyed the video captures I have made and have met a number of Palmy and Wellington drivers while out and about. I do it for my own pleasure and to add something useful on YT for history and the locals. Enjoy your retirement in Feilding. One of my favorite areas is from there to Halcombe. Every few metres there is another site to trial new camera angles....... 🤠

Yep I was just a few years too late to get the Db class. My very first day out with a hired VHS cam I caught a Db helper behind a Dc on the ECMT at Morrinsville but that was very tame, just shunting. We are very lucky to have these videos from Gordon and Jeff, more to come as I work through their tapes.... Have sent you a PM with more info 😀
