I don't get Anthony Bender. Dude has the stuff no doubt but he isn't really a good reliever. He's essentially a replacement level player with elite stuff 🤷

Consider that Bendix is laying the foundation for his team. Bell and Anderson are out, Garcia is already gone, and he's lining up the deadline trades. To me, the only big uncertainty is Alcántara and how long he stays. The 2025 rotation gives us reason to be hopeful. Let's see what comes back in the trades.

Jazz and Nick Gordon seem like the type of duo you wanna retain during a rebuild. Burger is blocking a few prospects and has a lot of control. Bell and Burger the Kim NG holdovers I'd expect to go to open up time for Gray and Troy. Also Joe Mack needs a call up

It starts from the top: the Panthers have a committed ownership who are not cheapskates like the Marlins ownership. Once you have a committed ownership, then they would have to find a great front office. With a great front office comes great players that are either drafted and developed in-house or acquired. The great thing is that since the ownership is committed, then they can keep great talent long term instead of doing fire sales.

As a life long fan having been through all the tanking years I gotta say that this is a weird year and here's why...yeah the Marlins are a bad team record wise but they are not as bad as their record shows and I've seen Marlins teams that are bad and they had minor league talent...this Marlins team has good major league talent...I mean I love Bell, Burger, Lopez, Scott, Fortes, Fauchier, Nardi...I can't stand Sanchez or Jazz
@thomasjoseph3488

Bendix's credo of discipline is interesting to watch. I agree with your assessment of the dearth of pitching. So, don't give our prizes away. Still, why are league hitting stats in the crapper?
@robertweisberg5570
@robertweisberg5570 3 дня назад
Soler was not worth many wins. Nobody wants bBell as a .240 hitter, mostly strikeouts, cant field, aagain his upside is 20-25 homers maybe low rbis and he wants real money. Burger is a poor mans Bell. For Bell his best years are in the past.
@robertweisberg5570
@robertweisberg5570 3 дня назад
Burger has been a disater. Facing facts his skills are very limited. Terrible fielder. Strikes out alot and for that you may get 25 homers, low average and low RBIS for that. Marlins Maniac blog thinks Trevor Rodgers is great. Heading for 20 losses.
@aaronchapman3
@aaronchapman3 2 дня назад
To me Jake Burger is a classic DH but if he has to play the field it should be at first base.

I am encouraged by the recent Anderson's hitting surge and the SB aggressiveness. Still, he was responsible for the error at third last night and definitely lollygagged it to first base on the eventual DP. Once again, I would much prefer Edwards for the renainder.

Rogers after three innings: hanging in there, but 55 pitches, including three BBs on 3-2 pitches. He's a nibbler, and much of that is on Stottlemyre. Get mean, attack. Yeah, plunk a few guys. Five inning starts ain't enough every time out.

Until MLB adopts some sort of revenue sharing / salary cap, there is little to be learned from successful teams in leagues that do employ them.

As a fan of the Marlins theres so much to get into about the organization and front office. As someone who was born and raised in Miami the Marlins have been plagued by bad ownership since their inception and sadly with an owner like Bruce Sherman the Marlins will never be real contenders for a WS. It’s as simple as that. A couple of reasons why i think that way, 1. Bruce’s net worth is concerning coming in at 500 million dollars which is second lowest in the MLB only behind the Reds owner Robert Castellini. 2. Ownership has no intention whatsoever to spend money on quality players. For example, the Marlins are bottom 4 in payroll at 99.1 Million with only the Rays, Pirates and As in that order behind them. How can you even remotely think that this Marlins team that is in dire need of some bats (since they didn’t want to pay Soler and his 36 bombs are gone) in the lineup as well as a serviceable catcher (since they didnt want to retain JT as well because again we are allergic to spending money), and a solid leadoff hitter that… oh yeah we just gave that away in Luis Arraez a 2x silver slugger… need i say anymore? And then everyone asks, why is it that when the Baseball World Classic and Caribbean Classic comes around Marlins Park is sold out but yet the Marlins are 2nd to last in attendance? (As come in last place not hard to beat them huh?) its because Miami is a city where if the team is nit successful the fans wont show up. Simple as that.

The Panthers have provided a blueprint for turning around a long troubled franchise. It all begins at the top (as with any organization). They reversed course once they were purchased by an owner willing to invest in bringing in top level management & players (and locking up some those key players with long term deals). There's just no substitute for this. Until the Marlins change ownership it will be difficult to remain optimistic about their future (even more so with no real salary cap in MLB). As a huge, long time & long suffering Panthers fan, I hope the Marlins can eventually have an owner like Vinny Viola and and find a GM like Bill Zito. If so, their fortunes could also quickly turn around.

Munoz could not make a single team in the majors. He could give up 50 home runs. He makes Lance Lynn look like a top starter.

Aren't we right back to the definition of success? Until now, the Marlins have two world championships since inception (31 seasons) - more than all but the Yankees, Red Sox, and Giants. So, is success "competitiveness" or the ultimate goal of titles? Bet most of the other (twenty or so) teams in MLB would exchange their last 30 years with the Marlins.

The panthers signed good role veterans and made solid trades. The Tkachuk trade send the team over the top. The Bobrovsky deal, Bennet, Reinhardt, Verhaeghe, Barkov, Montour all were acquired played together for a while. They drafted and developed a good core, spent on good free agents and traded talent for talent that fit better. They also had the right coach to bring it all together.

If you have Comcast/Xfinity (cable company) and you live in Miami you have not been able to watch any games this year. They are in a war with BallySports and no longer air the games. Perhaps that has been a blessing.

We always talk buyers and sellers. I think we can trade stars and get fresh blood in key positions. People would say your sellers, but if you win more without a Goldschmidt or Arenado because of who you acquired? You said I wanted to sell trash when I included BroNeill in deals. If we had gotten Sale in that deal, it would look better than Robertson/ Santos. We were tired of him being injured and undervalued him in the trade. Too bad they didn't have the same opinion about Matz.

You follow the players and praise there accomplishments, and realize that they can't win every game nor every series. But what you can't accept is the incompetent front office. With Sherman as owner, and Bendix as President of Baseball Operations is team will never go anywhere. The Marlins are wasting the talents of a good Manager and players. You acknowledge the business part of baseball, but these two are just putrid.

You have rightly spoken about the Marlins having no "juice" this season. This word can be swapped with "competitive intensity". All the "experts" pigeonholed Arraez as a one dimensional player but he embodied competitive fire (recall his intensity at the plate, his enthusiastic/violent slapping of the 1st base coach after a hit, etc.). Jazz brings swagger but Arraez brought competitiveness. Former MLB players (like Skip) understand & value this attribute but it does not factor into the analytics & spreadsheets of whiz kids (like Bendix). Bendix may have studied sabermetrics at Tufts, but I doubt he'll ever fully understand all the non-quantifiable intangibles that comprise winning players & teams. You may want someone like that in your organization as a consultant, but not as the person on top calling the shots.

Complete TRASH! How bout now, Bruce?!? Think you can SPEND THE F’n MONEY NOW?!! Since your management CANT draft, CANT sign OLD players and STILL CANT make trades that work! Those players were garbage anyway! Paid arraez on top! What a F’n JOKE! SPEND THE MONEY LIKE EVERY OTHER F’n TEAM does! Do the Braves or Phillies just do firesales every 5 yrs? No, they compete and Ppl show up!
