Awesome review! I have a similar setup with electronic gear and outboard using a Soundcraft GB2R 12-2 which I bought second hand for 350 euros. It also has tiltable outputs, (awesome to store it more conveniently) 19 inch, direct outs, but the EQ is a bit to muffled for my taste, I am missing precision. Also having only 2 mono sub outputs makes it hard to patch nice group mixes with outboard gear like a patchbay you also use it for. So definitely going to checkout this mixer! It sounds like the upgrade I am also will be very happy with!
Hey sorry about this, I discovered an undocumented bug in OBS where the remuxing does this. I struggled with this for months but it s finally gone... I record straight to MP4 now
the difference is not 5 to 10% IMO its far less. The one reason i dont invest in tinkergear like that is that the ONLY chance you could hear the difference is by compairing side by side wich, and thats the hard truth, no customer will ever have on the tracks you present them. Took me years to understand but now I only buy analog that really makes a big difference, everything else stands in the way from getting things done.
Hehehe that s actually just an Olympus OMD-1 MKII with a 12-40 Pro Lens that I am manually shifting on a video tripod. I highly recommend these and lenses cameras as they can be had for about 1/3 of a Sony A7 MKIV with prime lens and the video quality is 4K and IMO plenty good enough for YT vids. Hope you agree
Can you help Me! My apc40 turns on and all the button lights up when i touch. However, when i connect to my laptop nothing happens. It is not recognized at all. I tried different wire, usb port on my computer etc. there are no drivers for apc40 mk2 to update.

One of my favorite records I ever tracked and mixed was done on an APB Dynasonics desk. It was a Spectra Ti and had the absolute best Mic preamp EQ combinations I have ever heard in a console of that size. 4 band fully parametric EQ that Rivaled anything at the time. But the Preamps were Burr Brown 3 kilo-ohm preamps of liquid gold. After that session I went search for one on the used market with no luck. Still to this day I have never had a better drum sound!

So many of rhe iriginal artists came to it through other types of music. In UK, typically through rock/punk and Hawkwind and most could already play one or several instruments and had a keen and at least half-trained ear for tunes. Originality was cherished and to pursue the technology took a massive commitment in time and money.. Now, anyone can dload the midi, presets and a whole host of videos in arranging. The same time just isnt invested and the music has become almost a series of genre orthodoxies.
I have played a Model D and to my ears they sound and feel very different. The Model D feels much creamier for lack of a better word and has a more pleasing general tone. Not to tsay the Matriarch is not pleasing, but it sounds much more raw

thanks for this. nice review. there's only a few bits of info on youtube about these but sounds like opinions are all good. sounds like the go to mixer for electronic musicians if someone needs one and can afford it. i emailed APB and shipping to USA from their canada distributor isn't bad. only like $45.00. but has to be ordered directly from them as appears there's no USA retailers stocking it.
Wow that s crazy, I need to check where APB is based... Thought it was a US company?? It s a really great very professional mixer and while certainly not cheap, for the features it s actually a more than fair price. Was so happy when I realised it actually has 40 inputs 😅👍🏾

how do you suggest we work with commercial samples ? gain them down ? seems like gaining them down and running through the super channel creates distortion

Do you use the stereo RNDI just for "Vibe"? I've never heard of using a DI after mixer but I'm keen to try it now, I have the mono RNDI and it's amazing

It depends a bit. The console 1 plugin is essential for my workflow, it s on every channel.jn my template. But I don't use the controller all the time. Only when doing the final mixdown. For.productikn I just use the plugin as desktop space is rare...
