This series got me into anime. One thing lead to another, now it's been almost over twenty years and it took me directly to my literary career and a life I wouldn't trade for anything. It's amazing how well the story holds up even after so long.
When you realize the OP is from Deedlit's perspective. One of the last lines is about Deedlit waking up, implying the song up until that point was from her dreaming. Of course she was dreaming, because she's reliving memories of Parn, who would've grown old and died while Deedlit stayed young. Yet even as she awakens from her dream, the song ends with a line about her still being captive to the chains of Parn's heart. It's a profoundly simple way of demonstrating just how in love Deedlit is for Parn. She REALLY fell for this dude right from the start.

As a big, burly guy, this is one of the absolute few songs that can physically move me to sobby, blubbering wet tears at just how beautiful this song is. Gets me every time..
Damn, now that mentioned it, I actually want to see them cover both OP and ED. Elan is the only other song that is on the level of the above. I ended up having an entire fantasy setting built from that song. Lmao!
@@Z-Man7 Yeah but that's not what the Lodoss stories with her and Parn are about, as opposed to Wonder Labyrinth. And it's different to know a thing intellectually vs experience someone's journey through grief.
