Record of Lodoss War has an amazingly intricate artstyle in general. Such a great influence narratively and artistically on Japanese sword and sorcery media even today.

Too many 'fantasy' anime are actually 'fantasy videogame' anime and/or isekai. I know this is heavily tabletop inspired, but it isn't bombarding me with rules and classes to impress me. Its just a bunch of fantasy characters on an adventure.

@@redfiend ppl are being dramatic,,,, there were tons of fantasy and high fantasy shows up till about 4 or 6 years ago, even today there is a anime called feline or something it’s fantasy…im 42 I love this show and berserk they are high on my list , but to act like shows. Don’t do it any more is just nuts, remember shows like record and berserk Where not main stream at the time….i had to go to sun cost video to see them in the early 90 along with vampire hunter d ghost I. The shell and ninja scroll on vhs. Same deal today. Ironically……..anime do NOT do music like this and they did for the late 80s and 90s anymore u have to look to video games…….for good music like this..

Sadly, it doesn't get better, though the tv series isn't bad. Some of the other series were worse.

The TV series was trash, though. The first half was almost unwatchable but it got better in the second half.

But, if I were to make a humble suggestion to you, if we're talking classics, then I would humbly recommend the English versions of "Do you remember love?" from the anime movie Super Dimensional Fortress Macross: Do You Remember Love? as sung by two VERY TALENTED Ladies, namely Caitlyn Myers & Amanda Lee AKA AmaLee! Trust me: You WILL find my comments on each of these WONDERFUL Ladies if you look long enough! And if you feel the same way as I wrote in their respective channels about their BEAUTIFUL renditions of the same song, then I humbly urge you as a fellow fan to subscribe to both of their channels as they are both WORTHY of it! For more contemporary songs that are far more strident & with more testosterone, I humbly recommend both the English versions of "Guren no Yumiya" & "Sasageyo" from the anime series Attack on Titan & the BEST I've heard renditions of both songs are from, again, Ms. Amanda Lee AKA AmaLee, Jonathan Young, NateWantsToBattle & Cole Staggs! I grew up with this. It was one of the first anime I saw. First was Venus Wars, then Akira. Lodoss was maybe the third or fourth anime I saw. The teeth are very goofy. I know what they were going for, it’s a very classic look, but the anatomy doesn’t make much sense.

The dragon is there to prevent people from simping for the elf.

They do kind of "cheat" a little by adding things that aren't in the original version, such as reverb and harmonies. Whereas in the original, she just has her voice alone with little to no added effects. What I find awesome though is that rather than one version being better than the other (cause really, that's subjective to each and every one's taste), it instead gives us two different moods. The Japanese one is softer, melancholic, and contemplative; you can feel that she's just lost in her love for whomever she's singing to. While the English one is more romantic and theatrical, almost like an opera song, which makes it more of a passionate declaration of love than it's softer counterpart. And quite honestly I think that, THAT, is the beauty of covers. Everyone interprets songs differently based on their own feelings and experiences, and there is no "one true best version".
