Are you planning to share Ludwig Thuille's score of his first string quartet in A major ? If not, do you know where I could get hold of the score, as I really like the finale. On imslp, they have his second string quartet in G major but not his first in A. Have a great day and thank you for everything you do, it's great art !
Oh, he absolutely is not glorifying Lucifer. This was written by a Belgian composer in the 19th century and the prospect of a satanic oratorio having any success, in that setting especially, is ridiculous. The piece is about man overcoming Lucifer's attempts to overpower the Lord.
Benoit is enormously underrated here in Belgium for political reasons. He was part of a nationalistic romantic movement that was common to the whole of Europe then. Like Dvorak, Mussorgski and many others. But the peculiar nature of the unnatural Belgian nation dominated by French influence made that his Flemish orientation was ridiculed and rejected. This survives till today.
I'm not sure that the missing pages are really missing, and not just missing from the scan... Anyway, there should be a complete set of parts somewhere.
I sang the role of Eumee in the first production of Penelope at The Royal Academy of Music in 1952 . Alas no recordings of those performances are in existence .
The only question does not give me a rest - how could a human create something like this??? That is not of this world, definitely. And this is not the only example... Or we went one step down back to cockroaches...
Merci infiniment.
