Welcome to Dreams We Dreamed, where we are re-releasing our TV show Dead Head TV. To be clear, Dead Head TV is not about bootleg concert footage of the band. It’s about the deadheads themselves, and the fascinating scene they create as they followed the band on tour around the country. Dead Head TV and Dreams We Dreamed are in no way affiliated with the Grateful Dead or Rhino Entertainment. The original Dead Head TV was a half hour, monthly news-magazine show, with 3 to 5 segments. Besides the Tour Report, regular segments were Venue Reports, Deadhead Profiles, Show Reviews, Interviews with key members of the Grateful Dead family, San Francisco musicians and artists, educational Features, and The Dead News. For this Dead Head TV re-release, we have collected the segments individually for those who have a particular interest in one subject rather than an entire program.

I still think ''Without A Net" was a Brent masterpiece. As Barlow says, he's everywhere, not out front, but everywhere. When I listen to that double albums and listen to spring '90 shows, Brent is right up there in what makes that so spring so beautiful, bouncy and fresh. He is absolutely 50/50 responsible to the tight freshness of that period. Just when I saw my 1st shows. The live bounce and dance friendly cosmic jive Brent brought to shows was amazing and contagious.
QSM lyrics still resound today 2024. "Those who put their faith in fire, then by their faith shall be betrayed. Oh, oh, Pride of man, broken in the dust again." Heard John in a little club in the hills above Santa Cruz one nite away from the concert series. Great jam.
This is a beautiful tribute. I was lucky enough to have seen three amazing shows with him: Rich '89, Hamilton '90 second night, and Rich '90. Thank you, Brent ✌🏼♥️
Brent was my era loved him. He did play w a lot of emotion. Its a shame he never felt he fit in as he was loved by many. All the deads key players were great no one should forget pigpen he was an incredible performer
Wow, I had no idea he thought so little of himself, then again all of us addicts are broken in one way, or another. He was the best and my favorite after Jerry.
The first time I heard. Quicksilver Messenger services first album. I was a fan for life. I still bring it out every once in a while just to listen to It over and over. I could never get enough.
I was 8 years old in London in 1968 when I heard my brother's copy of the first QMS album. John's whipping and snarling guitar sound grabbed my young ears and I was a fan for life.
Thank you. John was one of the kindest, most self-effacing, hilarious and sarcastic characters I've ever met and had the privilege to know. Our collective loss is still felt today.
Brent told me that he didn’t feel a part of the band so I told the boys in the band that so Jerry was the one who he looked up to + was very happy to c Jerry bring him his smile that they ended up sharing !
The longest stint of a keyboard/pianist in Dead history. "We Can Run" is epic. "I will take you home" is my song for my daughter. One of my favorite Grateful Dead eras. I also love the Hornsby era.
When i saw Quicksilver, John Cipollina was already gone...I saw the Gary Duncan/David Frieberg version of Quicksilver....I did have the pleasure of seeing Cipollina in his band Copperhead with Pete Sears...
@akgo Gary Dunan was unfortunate to be in the same band as Cipollina it took a lot of limelight off his playing, watch him on the RU-vid QMS live version of Fresh Air his playing is superb but only Cippolina gets the praise. I love both but don't think Duncan got his fair share of praise.
