Hello everyone! My name is Cyndel. I am an avid sewist building a #memadewardrobe. Join me every Wednesday and Saturday for tutorials, sew alongs, and more!
Thank you for a great demonstration. How do you reset it to do more than one buttonhole at a time? I couldn't seem to find any tips in the manual about that and wasn't sure what I needed to do to advance past buttonhole number one. Thanks for any help you may have.
Hi! Nice review thanks! I'm personally in love with the Esmod lingerie method it's a bilingual french/ english book, there is one book for the construction and the other for grading, everything is very well explained (Esmod is a french private fashion school wich opened in 19 century), and an other french method called "la coupe a plat n°2" from Jacqueline chiappetta, she explained construction and grading and at the end of the book there are basics sewing pattern in real sizes wich you can use for your construction but it's made with her own size chart so I just used it for reference, this book is really well illustrated, I recommend it to anyone who can understand french! I also have the method from Ann Haggar, I don't really use it from bras because I preferred my basic block from Esmod and from Chiappetta but she shows nice transformations and others models like beachwear and nightwear, Ann Haggar don't include grading rules, but talks about how to change a cup size for the bra. Chiappetta's basic block for bra method uses only measurements, Esmod's method uses the Esmod bodice basic block (wich is explained how to do it in the book) this bodice block has 2 darts on the front and 2 darts for the back, it's really accurate, I personally didn't have to modify it while I was using standard sizes for my dressform. Ann Haggar method use also the basic block. All of these methods also cover panties and bodysuit, Chiappetta and Ann Haggar also include nightwear and beachwear. Please note that all these methods uses metric system Like you, I really enjoy "making my own sauce" using multiples methods ☺️ Books is always a good investment! Especially when you can find them in 2nd hand lol Hope this was helpful, stay creative ❤
Great job Cyndel, it's beautiful!!! Thank you so much for this series it has helped me out a lot learning to make bras. I would love to see you design a strapless bra including wire. Would you also be able to help us design our own pattern as well for a strapless bra?
I absolutely love this pattern! And soon I will get around to sewing it!🤣 You did a wonderful job on both the pants and on the video! I wanted to share with you a sewist that I follow on RU-vid that does amazing work! She has a video that addresses the slash pockets and the half elastic waistband that looks so professional! I know you want to make this pattern again and might want to incorporate some of her hacks! Her name is Thuy Phan. Do a search for Thuy Phan Made With Love. She has three different channels! I hope you take some time to watch her videos!
Hey, thanks for the info, very helpful. And i was wondering, what do you think of the book of DR KRISTINA SHIN, Patternmaking for Underwear Design: 2nd Edition?
Thank you so much for all the detailed information you give on construction. I am trying to learn all about lingerie construction and will attempt to make something thing for the fist time. I have watched many videos but yours are one of the best ones I have found in terms of detailed info and tips. I look forward to seeing more work from you on your channel. Will you be making some more lingerie pieces other than just bras?
Hello Cyndel, Thank you for this series, it was very clear, and I appreciate that you gave the stitch lengths for each sewing application! That has been the most frustrating part for me, as a beginning sewer, when people say things like, "Sew with a regular stitch length", my thought has always been, "what is that?", but they don't give an example...Your series has been very inspiring, keep up the great sewing tutorials! Well Done! 🤗
I like the video I need to make my one bra Can you text where did you order all that Suply I Love the color and I’m learning how to do bra please thanks
Hi Cyndel! I love these videos! Can't wait to try it for myself. I am a begginer 🥰 can you please suggest the best sewing machine for lingerie making? Thanks again 💗💗
Hey Tiffanie! Thank you! Contrary to belief, you actually don't need a special machine to sew lingerie! I have a Singer Heavy Duty 4432, which is an all around champ. Any machine with a straight stitch and zig zag stitch will do the job :) a 3-step zigzag is a bonus, but even I don't usually use it. It just takes time on any machine to figure out your tension, stitch length, etc. which is truly trial and error. Final note, some people find success with a walking foot with lingerie fabrics, I personally didn't. If anything gets really tricky you can always run tissue paper under it. I hope that helps!
Thanks for this - a few little tricks n tips not covered in the Singer tutorial. I love the trick with straight pins to act as stoppers when opening the slit with a seam ripper!
If you get a multicolor lace that matches the rings/sliders you could use the white findings/power net for the back band and that would look really striking. . . You know I might just make a set for myself with that color combo, lol. ☺️
Hey! Hope you see this. Loved your video. I'm about to buy my first book, I've been sewing underwear for a while, but I want to see the most accurate to launch a collection and stop making them according to personalized measures. Which one would you recommend?
Hi Cyndel, thank you for reviewing this for me! I need help because I do not fit normal patterns of clothing with less stretchy materials such as leather, metal, hard plastic, Ramie, Mohair, knit cotton, silk, wool and linen. Not being able to find 100% textiles materials in my size, I am unfortunately down to having to craft my own bras. (Large breast cup and small ribcage band). They do not make very much hourglass so thank you once again for researching for us. I wish you luck in opening your shop!
I'm making my first pair of Winslow culottes and this tutorial has been really helpful. I love the French seams (I recently used them on my Sagebrush top and LOVED them) so finding th is was great. I also love the suggestion for the waistband elastic; I'm off to Joann's to get some for mine!
