Man when Eddie played he tore it up I can understand why Alex doesn't want to play with anyone else when you played with the bert nothing else compared how can you play u look out front n ur little brother is gone no person or sammy or any guitar player can take his place I respect him it's like when Bonham Robert said no one could compare it's cool Sammy is celebrating his legacy God knows Sammy has one but he could never compare to these two brothers. Anthony is a good sport n seems like a nice guy but anyway nice to see Eddie putting it down but honestly I never liked them with Sammy I like Sammy solo God bless us all 💕🙏

The only time I saw VH on tour and Eddie’s worst performance ever. I think everyone but Sammy was wasted. This was a first date for my wife and I, we left early.

I notice EVH unnecessarily likes to use term that doesn't mean anything. "So to speak" I heard him say that few times so to speak lol.

TBH i'm sad the sammy reunion did not work out. Imagine Ed sobering up and they made another Sammy album, or even better they never split in 1996. DLR had 6 great albums, and it seems most people agree ADKOT isn't up to par with the original 6. Also listening to the tone of Balance and Humans Being we can only imagine what the 5th Sam album would be

2004 Eddie was REALLY fucked up by booze and coke. Terrible tour. He kept wearing these weird gaffer taped shoes.

I was at this show, Ed was playing indistinguishable solos from some new songs, it's about time.... I was like what's up with that???!! Did the VIP sound check and things sounded fine on like on 7th Seal.

without a doubt the worst playing I’ve seen of Ed. Even so it’s vastly superior to many but his standard was so high that in this shape no wonder it’s a disappointment. He was in a bad spot in life here.

I was at this VH concert, way up top. Never had much money growing up and finally got to see one of the bands I grew up loving. Years later I read reviews and see how they talk about EVH sloppy playing…. I’m just happy I got to see them. If I want perfect I turn on Spotify.

The Eddie Van Halen seen early in this video, talking about how Sam was such a great guy. Just wasn't the same Ed that treated Michael so badly. Eddie was dying for years he was so heavily addicted to drugs. How he lived as long as he did is honestly a miracle. There is video after video year after year of Eddie being paper thin and being so destroyed by drugs. If you have an interest watch Van Halen with Gary cherone on the Howard Stern show. It's obvious that Alex was complicit in Eddie's drug use. And if you look at Eddie in that studio, I don't believe that he was doing cocaine then he was using meth. He could not sit still and was tweaking like you wouldn't believe. It's so unbelievably sad, Alex knew what was going on, Eddie was using so heavily and became so insecure. There was even a massive blowout with his son on stage when Eddie could not play. The drug abuse and drug addiction was so bad and Eddie could not get clean. Making Michael Anthony an employee of the band was unfathomable and if truth be told he would have taken any deal just to stay a part of it. Eddie lost his mind his soul and his way and Alex watched it all. Just look at Eddie's mouth it's called meth mouth and is plain to see.

It is absolutely hilarious whoever made this video thinks Sammy Haggar replaced DLR. DLR, never got replaced. Van Halen was never as good as they were with Dave ever again. Even in the end when Dave came back to the band. DLR could never be replaced. 1 or 2 tried, just like he predicted.

We all remember our 1980s party hearty never miss a concert days of our no steering wheel required youth . One thing I remember was on the days that we were going to see a band at the arena that evening , there was always a little buzz in the air. There was a little buzz in the air because the Scorpions were in town , a buzz because Judas Priest was in town , or Motley Crue or Ozzy , or a number of other bands . But when Van Halen visited your town , it was a completely different vibe . It was a vibe that no other band had. Van Halen came to town with that invisible Tsunami that just hung around the day of the show and even a couple of days after. Like their image, like their reputation , like their music, like Alex Van Halen’s Drum set , it was off the charts different from their peers. ! I seen them 12 times and they never disappointed me. After seeing them my first time , I had to the rafters expectations every time and they never left me un satisfied. The 3rd time I seen them , Dave was a bit lack luster But I forgave him for 2. Reasons 1). I live in Fresno , in the middle of California. The 3rd time I seen em , the band had played Reno, NV, 3 show’s in Oakland , 2 shows at the Cow Palace San Francisco and 3 shows in Sacramento in the previous 10 days in a row before hitting Fresno. I b was up close and Dave did not look good . He was white as a sheet and he lacked the all over the stage acrobatics that he normally had . He looked like somebody who partied their fuckin ass off for 10 straight days, and then had dry heaves all day on the 11th day before taking the stage . It was a bit of a let down but that’s one of the reasons we love DLR. His ‘everybody hoist your glass again attitude ! So I couldn’t hold that against him ! Yeah Dave go ahead and party like hell but not before my hometown show ! Ha ha . I will give Dave credit for one thing. He was there , he did the whole show and finished fairly strong . That’s what I give him credit for that . He had a look that most lead men would have cancelled the show over so he soldiered on Quite the Warrior!

I saw the Toronto show in July 2004 and it was absolutely fabulous. Everything appeared fine. Four months later in Hamilton, Ontario the band was a complete mess. I was shocked at the decline. Something was seriously wrong. Thank God Eddie cleaned himself up. For fans be sure to view his Smithsonian interview. You see the real Eddie VH and the person we want to remember. RIP

sammy coasted in on david and eddies fumes. he picked up the torch. he did really well. but we would not know van halen today if they had started with sammy. thats all there is to it. eddy was just that good. so was david.
