Great report (again!) - - and great to hear your voice. I love flying QSuites. You've done a perfect job showing how special it is from the lounge to landing. Both lounges are great, but I prefer the Garden. As you mentioned, the crew is always the highlight. Soft product > hard product, for me.
i have a couple of questions: 1. how easy is it for bronze ff to get an upgrade, from prem eco to bc? 2. can you upgrade just the 2nd leg of your flight? say 1st leg syd to changi then 2nd Changi to LHR? thanks in advance
Just based on my experience, if you're you're referring to the bid to upgrade the yes absolutely. Where there's availability, Qantas often sends out emails inviting travellers to bid for a chance to upgrade. From memory, this kind of upgrade is really up to Qantas on which leg they offer. Otherwise, when it's available, there's the option of pay to upgrade within your booking. 🤔
there is no runway at changi named "R2" the only runways they have are 20R,L,C and 02R,L,C (20L and 02R are mainly for military use but sometimes can be used to commercial flights)

Nice video, but I missed your answer to your header question, "Is it safe to Fly?" Does the fact that you arrived intact and on time have any bearing on your opinion? The only thing you said about the 737 MAX8 was that it is "nosier" (did you intend to say "noisier"?) than larger transports, which doesn't tell us much about its relative safety component. At any rate, I'm glad you arrived at your destination safely.
It's more of a rhetorical given regardless of assurances, some people might still be uncomfortable with the aircraft. Thanks for watching and yes, typo, I meant noisier 😅😅
I would agree with your verdict. Qatar is a decent airline, but definitely not five-star. For many years they have proclaimed 'world's best' and 'five-star', but in reality, they are not. There are other airlines who deserve that title. A very informative and beautiful review. I want to ask a quick question. The nearest standard seat I was able to reserve on my Qatar flight in November closest to the front of economy class was 22A-K. would you know whether I would get a decent wing/engine view. I'm looking to capture some good views for a review I intend to make. Thanks again!
Thanks for watching and appreciate your feedback! I was in row 16 and had the wing/engine view so for row 22, I don't think you'll get an engine view. I'd say that'll either be right on the wing or on the edge of it which means you're in a perfect position to capture the wing flaps 👏👏
Emirates Premium Economy > I have flown Emirates PE on different types of aircraft > 100% NOT worth the extra cost.... the extra cost > there is NO lounge access on either boarding or transit to another emirates connecting flight. There is no complimetary chauffeur you have on the business class. PE Food is ok. The seats are a little wider and a small extra legroom. There is no priority check in with Emirates PE. Flights are expensive at the moment, however my opinion is to travel Economy/business/first class.... That the honest take on PE class flights
You're absolutely right that there are no extra perks with Emirates PE and even some BC fares, definitely have to pay extra attention when booking if that's important. I do think the Emirates PE has a better overall ambience and seat in comparison to some other airlines so it's a good starting point for those who are not quite ready for a BC experience. 💯 Agree with the legroom comment especially when the leg rest is elevated, not a very smart design 🤔
Cathay’ s business class always delivers to expectations. Cabin crew are always friendly, courteous and professional. The A350 is a pleasure to fly in.
Excellent quality footage, & a great review. It’s unfortunate Qantas hasn’t taken advantage of the excellent Finnair Marimekko cutlery, glassware & serviettes. A couple of tiny typos - chilli, I believe, is the correct spelling, rather than chilly, & towards the end, ‘… made out way to (Changi). Look forward to more of your work!
Thanks for the video & insights into Finnair service. Was it by pure chance that your flight was on the Finnair plane or was that evident when booking flight?
Thanks for the trip report! Yes Finnair often has great cabin service. The cabin crew on this route comes from Finnair's crew base in SIN, there's a similar arrangement on their daily HEL-SIN (A350) service, only SIN based crew there. So, no service in Finland's official languages Finnish/Swedish on HEL-SIN flights, but it seems Finns don't mind :) It's the same on HEL-HKG. In France this would cause riots :D
Thanks for your comment. Yeah, I was pleasantly surprised about it! But guess it's what works best in terms of efficiency and effectiveness as long as they don't mind 😁😁
Thanks for pointing it out! I didn't get one on this flight, it was too short of a flight. I usually do open it to share the contents and in few occasions I didn't dare to open it coz I got a female one for the lady at home. 🤣🤣
A typical example of Qantas ... overpriced, overrated and now over there (literally with Finnair). It will be interesting if the relatively new CEO can turn it around. It's too Sydney-centric. I much prefer Sing Air with better service and certainly better food..
Think we're all eagerly sitting through this period of 'watch and see' what happens with Qantas and new CEO. There's so much they can work on, I'm sure even a small change would go a long way for many loyal frequent flyers 🧏🏻♂️
Qantas are using Finnair as a cost cutting exercise, because crew are outside of Australia and don't have to comply to our workplace laws etc. Sadly again not employing Australian people and using overseas crews and same for planes, Qantas are scamming Australian people it's supposed to be an Australian company and Airline but it's more overseas than Australian now.
As QF Frequent Flyer I am proud of Qantas for their impeccable safety record, excellent pilots and many generous/kind Aussie-spirit you get from many cabin crew. However, the catering is just uncompetitive. The portions of the servings- so small/stingy compared to Singapore Airlines etc. - can be viewed as “cheap” by people from Asia/Middle East etc. This damages QF and Australia’s reputation. Not good. You are very generous by saying it’s only “mediocre” … As for the Finnair hard product: despite being “futuristic” it just lacks warmth/impressiveness when compared to ANA/JAL/Emirates etc.
The "generous/kind Aussie-spirit" you speak of is maybe appreciated by Aussies, but it's an international airline and that behaviour, 'she'll be right and I'll get ya a tinnie after take-off' is not seen as generous and kind spirit in any other culture, but it's seen as rudeness, inappropriate and even arrogant by almost all other cultures, especially those that QANTAS is competing with. And it shocks many Asians I've worked with. LOL. But still, after years of competing with Singapore Airways, now Emirates and Qatar which provide FAR better service that's not 'generous and kind and she'll be right, mate' QANTAS still doesn't get it. And the market is letting it know. The only full-service airline that QANTAS can beat in service, in my experience, is British Airways. And that's no compliment. (The last time I flew BA Business was London-Hong Kong, I actually didn't eat my soup, I WORE it! Accidents happen, but I didn't even get an offer to cover the cost of cleaning my suit before my meeting 😂). I flew the new Finnair business class about 4 months ago ..Wow!1... QANTAS is not in this race anymore, I'm afraid. Finnair is carefully "passenger oriented" in Business Class, and that's a concept QANTAS doesn't get. The EGO of the average QANTAS FA is a fearsome thing. But only Aussies defer to it, I think. PS safety should be a given. Not an advertising +. Qantas is second best after Air NZ. Of the major airlines plying QANTAS' routes, which ones would you NOT fly for fear of crashing, then? Emirates? Finnair? Singapore? BA? Qatar? Please don't say MAS, because QANTAS also flew across the Ukraine in those days. I always hear a bit of desperation when I hear 'fly Qantas because it's safer'. I live in Europe now, but in Australia a few years ago, and boasting about QANTAS being safe was common. I used to ask, "oh? When did Singapore Airlines last crash?" No response. 😂. It's scraping the barrel a bit: "Never mind the service, it's safe."
Loved that there was little talking and lots of viewing. Hopefully there’s more choice with food when we go. Not enough protein for me. Low carb eating. Very pleasant viewing, thx. 👏🇦🇺
