I had surgery on 11/8/23 and I am restricted to no more than 4oz/half cup of food total per meal for the next 12 months. Amazingly, you can eat more than this amount.

Thank you for sharing. I'm going through the process now for a revision. I had the VSG back in 2017. My doctor said he can definitely get me approved for surgery only thing is, he doesn't do the duodenal switch. Which is my first choice. But His co-worker, their pretty close, he's an expert on the duo-switch. Their supposed to be the best two surgery doctors in the whole hospital. My doctor suggested I pick between the RNY or duo-switch. He told me he thinks I would do good on either one. He's not for sure that my BMI is high enough for the duo-switch. The RNY for sure he can get me approved. I started my paperwork and booked my nutrition, upper G.I, etc. I do have to wait to hear back from my doctor about his co-worker response to performing the duo-switch. If not, my doctor is just going to do the RNY. Crossing my fingers for the duo-switch but, at the same time I wish my doctor performed both procedures. Whichever one will make me happy. About 2020 is when I experienced the weight gain. I'm still down from my highest weight, I got that going for myself. We both got this!!!
@whiterussian22
@whiterussian22 Год назад
How much did you lose after VSG and then how much did u gain back?
@DivatoSabrina
@DivatoSabrina Год назад
@@whiterussian22 exact my stats; starting weight 255-260. Surgery day 247lbs. I dropped a few pounds on my own. 12 months post op I was 168lbs. Maintenance weight was in the 170's. About pretty much, around the pandemic, was when weight gain started. I would say after September 2020, is when I started experiencing weight gain. I started my paperwork Jan 2023. When they weighed me, I was 240lbs back in January. Current weight now is 226lbs. VSG didn't get me to my goal weight. I wasn't happy. There were some RU-vidrs bigger than me but, then got down to 120lbs with the VSG. Some of them have kept that off. I must say, most of them gained the majority of that weight back. I strongly suggest that somebody looking to have surgery for the first time should consider the RNY or dudo-switch. VSG in my own personal experience does help you lose weight fast. But in that 6 month I started to hit stalls. I really had to work hard to drop the last few lbs. It depends on the weight goal and body type. My body at 168lbs was smaller; size 18 to 9's. But I wasn't completely at the goal I wanted. If I knew what I know now, I would have gone for the RNY. I picked the VSG because, I thought it would be a healthier choice. Not such a good reason and now I'm going through a revision. I should have told my doctor I wanted to get to 120-130lbs. Somebody like me needed the dudo-switch for long term results. I still don't regret surgery. Watching that weight melt off me like water; I felt so good. My energy levels were high. I was constantly at the gym. Eating healthy. Something I hadn't done in years. You would be surprised how that procedure can really change you. Mentally and physically!! Sticking to a healthy diet and routine helps to be successful.
@whiterussian22
@whiterussian22 Год назад
@@DivatoSabrina Congrats! I'm sure this revision will take you to your goal. Yes, many people choose VSG because it's less invasive and it helps many to get to their goal. I know a very obese couple who got really thin just by VSG, and they keep this weight for several years. But I know, that many developed a serious reflux, and this is why they had to go for bypass revision. Didn't you have any problem with acid reflux?
