Welcome to my creative corner. My name is Emma and this is a podcast mainly about knitting but also about any other craft that I can try. I hope you enjoy it!
I find the vest very beautiful❤. If you don't like the idea to separate the strands of unspun, I recommend you Plotulopi or Nutiden which come single stranded and then you can pair it with silk mohair. I also recommend you the Jeny's surprisingly stretchy bind-off for binding off at the cuff. Let us know of it worked for you.😊
Hi! I am happy to see you wearing your Miles Shirt Jacket! I am using for mine the unspun from Hillesvag and one strand of drops kid silk mohair and I am gettig a very nice thick and warm fabric with it. The mohair should help to prevent the felting and give more strength to the garment. I guess this will be my go to with unspun from now on. I loooooved your mohair Shawl. It looks amazing! What a beautiful piece and great idea!. Your mom will love it for sure. Lovely greetings from Germany.
Emma! agradecer tu podcast me ha gustado mucho. Y tengo que decirte que el TOMBO TEE te ha quedado perfecto! precioso! tejes divino! Te envío mi abrazo!
Hello Emma. Thanks for this wonderful video with so many details of your project. I have been searching for information about this pattern because I was not sure about it. Now I am and thanks to you! Now you have a new suscriber ;-). I have a podcast too but in spanish. I guess I will also share my process in spanish to help others to get closer to the process of the Miles Shirt Jacket. Thanks again and see you soon :)
Hello Rita, I'm glad this video was useful for you! I often find it easier to understand some project with videos than just with photos. I started to watch some of your podcast videos (with subtitles, I can't understand everything but learnt some new words!) and I enjoyed them! 😊
@@petitvelo Oh! Thanks for watching my videos too. I am asking myself now, how good are the subtitles working...I will check jeje. I am very happy that you enjoyed anyway jeje. I have everything now to start with my jacket. ;-) ..I just need to start. I will be talking about it in my channel. Thanks again for your video and for answering.
That makes me really happy to know that you like it so much ! I'm going to grade it to be able to knit it for my partner, so I could actually grade it for all sizes!
It's so nice to know that it inspires you! 😊 I used 3 balls plus a tiny bit of the fourth to sew the second pocket. But I knit the cardigan a bit smaller than recommended in the pattern, so I would have used something closer to four balls if I had knit it to the right length.
Your cable sweater is beautiful - love the gorgeous plump cables. I do the same thing when knitting cables or lace - I use a lot of stitch markers to keep track - also helpful to catch errors. I love Woolyknit yarn and I agree it can be a bit heavy when held double. For this garment, I may try it single and holding with an airy lightweight yarn or even their merino for a lighter sweater.
Thank you! It's such a good idea to hold it with an airy yarn or Woolyknit's merino. I never tried it yet and I really like that idea! (Especially since they seem to have almost exactly the same color with nepp, so it could be perfect!) Thank you for lovely idea 😊
You make such lovely things. Very sweet little hands. That thrift shop sounds so fun ! It's a little distracting to hear the clicking sound of your camera always trying to focus : ) Merry Christmas to you and your family
Thank you for your sweet comment! 😊Yes, I realised when editing that the sound of the camera was quite annoying when I was not wearing my mic. I'll try to either use my mic when I have it or be in manual focus for the future 🙂I hope you had a lovely holiday!
I enjoy seeing people's sewing as well as knitting. Your dress seems like a very useful and beautifully made piece! I'm knitting the same tiny sweater you showed while watching this video, coincidentally. 🙂 My second one, started and finished first yesterday and already almost done again. I want to make quite a few for a christmas garland.
@@petitvelo I am fairly new to knitting socks, and have not tried Mondim for them yet, but I do have some socks in Mondim planned. I have used Mondim for a pullover and also for several cowls and shawls.
Hi Emma, you could not tell the microphone was off, I am excited to see the cable sweater😊,take care Melissa. 🇨🇦 Ps - I am going to look up your sisters yarn, I hope you had or have a great time at the yarn festival, also going to favourite the sumac sweater.
Good to know about the microphone, because I recorded another episode without it 😅 I'm glad you like the Sumac, I just picked it up again to finish it 🙂
I am so glad to hear your adventures. I’m jealous that your sister shares your appreciation for fiber. Your cabled sweater is going to be a masterpiece. I get that excited about math and knitting charts😁💗
Ahah it's nice to know we're not alone loving those maths and charts! It takes some time but then I find it magical to be able to knit something that fits perfectly with those numbers! Yes, I feel so lucky to be able to share my love for fiber with my sister! ❤
Hello Emma you made a beautiful miles jacket and i would love to make too... May i know how many grams/plates you used.. I have 320 grams but they are not doubled like yours... Thank you if you have time to answer... Waiting for your next video and thank you for sharing... ❤❤❤❤
Hello Melinda, Thank you so much, I'm so glad you like it and that this video was useful! ♥ I used exactly 3 plates (so 300g) plus the beginning of the 4th to do the ribbing and the bind off of the second pocket. I weighted the 4th plate to see how much I used but it's still 105 grams 😅 but I think it was maximum 2 grams from that last plate. The plate are about 230m when yarn held double. Also, keep in mind that I shortened mine of about 3cm, so that used less yarn. What is the yarn that you are planning to use?
@@melindafabro7584 I have just ordered my first plates (300g) of Nutiden yarn and was wondering the exact same thing. Have you started this jacket yet, and if so, how is it going with your project?
@@Malin01Borg hi,,,i dont cast on yet but i have a feeling that i will run out yarn (as usual) i would love the size m......maybe i will make a slipover for it..
@@melindafabro7584 Ok. I got the notice today that they shipped my yarn, so it will hopefully arrive in a few days! I was thinking that it takes a lot less yarn if you don't make it oversized, which is my plan. Also, one can do the pockets and hem in another colour if the yarn runs out. That is my plan B ;)
Sorry about my last two comments,my keyboard just disappeared, it was Anna, from a Bluebird box, her latest episode,I think it was 21. Luckily I asked Siri what to do and it worked. Good luck with the button holes.
Hi , I was just watching a RU-vid, I will go and try to remember, but they did button holes after ,but just using sewing thread to pull back a hoe with just the 🧵 thread.
I cast on the cuff in a smaller needle and then I knit the rest of the sock in the needle the yarn calls for. So maybe I cast on with a 2.25 and then knit the rest of the sock with a 2.75. It helps with making the cuff not stretch out too much.
I enjoy your podcast. Your knitting is beautiful. (Hope you can finally finish your partner's sweater...the best things sometimes take a lot of patience.)
My English is only with google translator. I hear these mmmm, but it does not bother me at all. The girl is a little embarrassed in front of the camera.
I just discovered your channel and enjoyed it very much. Your English is excellent. You speak slowly and clearly. A joy to watch and listen to. Thank you.
Your Sveaborg pullover is gorgeous! I love the color, as well as the cabling! A lot of yarns soften up once they're washed and blocked. I hope that works for your Sveaborg, so that it is comfortable on your neck. I'm glad you found the Old Norwegian cast on/German Twisted cast on helpful. It is my favorite now, even for some things that don't necessarily need to be extra stretchy. I look forward to seeing you next episode!
German twisted cast on for me! I use it for everything really… hats, socks, sweaters, you name it. Andreah Mowry had the best tutorial on RU-vid in my opinion. ❤ (also, didn’t mind the umms… it’s just the way you talk I think. Didn’t bother me at all.) About the Fabel socks, did you get two socks out of one ball? I have some Fabel in my stash and I was wondering if one ball is enough for two socks! 😊
Thank you ! That's so sweet to tell me that the way I talk doesn't bother you ☺️ The German twisted cast on seems like a really popular one! I tried it after seing the different comments and indeed, I really liked it! I tried it on a beanie and on mittens and it was really elastic it had a nice finished look! About the Fabel socks: for my partner, I used 34 grams per sock so more than one ball for the whole pair with a leg that is 17cm long and a foot that is 26cm long (with 60 sts). I have made him another pair of socks with the same foot length but with only 12cm for the leg and I used 54 grams. So I guess that with a contrasting yarn for the heel, I could have used only one ball 😊 For me, I usually make a whole pair with less than one ball (usually 45 grams) but I have small feet (36 European size) with 56 sts. I hope that helps you to know if one ball is enough or not for you 😊
The beautiful baby sweater, 1) would it fit if you steek it and add the button band. Also remove the sleeves and then you have a wider garment that is easier to put on. 2) a sweater for a teddy bear. 3) Could cut out and sew mittens from the felted wool.
Those are three really great ideas! 🤗 I think I have a preference for the mittens idea, although that could be a great exercice for steeking (I haven't tried that yet but I would love to try it someday). And until I try either one, the teddy bear option would make a good use out of it instead of keeping it in the closet! 😊
I want to watch and I realize that English is probably not your first language, but maybe when you’re editing you can do like I do, and edit out all of the many many many “umms.” I say “so anyway” a lot. When I edit I remove them. After a while you will become more aware and you can eliminate a lot of the ums.😊
English is indeed not my first language. I think I'll get used to talking in front of a camera after a while and get rid of some of my language habits (I already tried not to say too much "so yeah" at the end of every project haha). Thanks for pointing it out, I'll keep in it mind for the next video 😊
@@petitvelo I don’t mind the umms and ahs at all, perhaps it’s because I live my life in a foreign language but also I think it’s just so lovely to see. I struggle to knit in my foreign language, so hats off to you!
@@woollenhearted Thank you so much ☺🤗 That's true that it's not always easy in a foreign language but I think it's nice to learn and see that we can improve with practice 😊
