And when they invaded the bunkers and crossed the cave that led them to the Golden Cube, only some managed to enter and get lost in the Golden City, it could even happen to their leader, while the rest who were outside the Cube were transformed into the grotesque creatures. that prevent access to certain places in the cave and that Jack Hole must destroy with explosives. I theorize that the closer one is to the artifact, the mutations will be worse, and it is exemplified by Jianyu Zhang, the guy was right next to the Golden Cube when it closed and we saw that he became the worst mutants.

(SORRY IF THERE IS A LOT OF TEXT, BUT I WANT TO MAKE MY POINT OF VIEW AND ANALYSIS CLEAR) The religious theme comes into play a lot with the crosses, the story of the fishermen and the cave where the "Demons" come out and can be hurt by the golden crosses. My theory is that the Golden City or the mutants have nothing to do with hell and demons, but that the artifacts influence human minds madly, but only some specific people receive the visions and dreams, as it was with Mr. Puffton, the leader of the Children of the Sun, and former employee Jianyu, who had in common the knowledge and resources to find and activate the artifacts. Perhaps this mental control is because human minds are more susceptible to control or because they are similar to the ancient species that created the artifacts. Remember that the Peninsula of "The Forest" and the Island of "Sons of the Forest" have cannibals, all equally savage, but with a hierarchy and worship of artifacts. I theorize that the transformations are not due to the evil within the human heart, but due to genetics and that the closer one is to the artifacts, the worse the mutations will be. Most of the important guests were in the event bunker, the workers and some of the staff around, all transformed into the blind and deformed mutants. While the cult members were inside the cave near the golden cube, they were not the Demons, but the grotesque creatures that are stuck around and obstructing Jack Holt's path. This makes sense because Jianyu was right next to the cube when it closed and became the most dangerous mutant but with some "control". The cannibals around the island may be people from the past who were influenced by the Cube's mind control and who were further away when it was activated, thus only having their minds "degraded" to being feral, but gaining physical abilities and some longevity. In addition to that we see savages in modern uniforms, which may be members of the staff who also went savages when they were outside the caves. Virginia Puffton's case is more complicated. I think it is due to genetics, since her parents became blind mutants, but much stronger and more resistant while maintaining more of her human appearance. 3:27 As you say in your video, it could be that she was getting out of the pool when she started to mutate, or it could be that she was scared by the explosion in her parents' room. Since she had an access card, Virgina managed to escape from the bunkers and when she was reaching the outside her body began to mutate but she managed to have enough strength to get out in time. 5:13 So those conditions caused her to just gain extra limbs, her mind to degrade, and her to lose the ability to speak. Which makes sense because her personality was more that of a puppy than a traumatized person.

Best part is you, Virginia, and Kelvin are one big happy family and go off on whatever we do after the end, with Virginia being pregnant and having gone through a surgery to remove her extra limbs.

There should be a mod that respawns bunker enemies. Clearing the bunkers is the most fun in the game I think and after the first time it’s just for looting. You can’t even spawn the enemies in yourself and come back later, they will despawn

coming back to this after the 1.0 release, things are a little clearer, as we now know that the player is a member of the press it allows for the idea of the characters not being solders more understandable, thinking about it we have, Timmy - a scientist and expert in parallel universes. Eric - Possibly an expert in alien artifact and has some beef with Sahara XD. Rodney another scientist with expertise in parallel universes. Jack holt - a reporter who was informed of what was happening on the island and likely researched and reached out to all the others. and finally protection escorts such as fish eye and the other solders we find in the island. after this it does make the Rodney theory more possible
