I certainly think the Sire has a better spec. My only reservation is that with the Fender, you can change the electronics, pick guard colour, and the neck if you're into periodically changing the look and sound of the guitar. If Sire sell replacement necks and pick guards (and I don't know if they do or not), then for me, the Sire would be a hands down winner.
Я купил s 7 в белом цвете на синглах! Я буду менять звукосниматели на сет Dimarzio! Гитара превосходного качества! У меня был Фендер Де люкс мексика и он намного хуже по качеству!
I bought the Sire S7 FM Blue V2 with coil splitting in the bridge and it's not a just for the money comparison, it actually plays better than the Fender. Frets are better finished, no sprouting and I get better tonal variety from the Sire pickups compared to the Fender's which are very narrow sounding. The locking tuners are also stepped so I don't have to bother with a crappy string tree resulting in much better tuning stability! I know fanboys will standby their selected favorite name brands but I KNOW I got a much better guitar for even less money! The big 3 have rested on their "Made in America" BS for way to long putting out mediocre quality guitars and just like the arrogance that ruined the auto industry, they're now losing ground daily!
NOT ANY MORE they have gone way up. You can still get Fernandes and Yamahas MIJ pretty cheap. Still worth the price of a vintage one…after you replace the trem, pots, and do some fret work your at the same price as a very good used one. You will also have a much better resale on a MIJ guitar.
I have a G2420T in gold dust. It’s a really great guitar. Regarding the tuning , if you replace the bridge for a roller bridge, & if the nut is cut at different angles, there’s no problems whatsoever with the tuning & the bigsby . I have some good quality guitars in my collection. A LES PAUL , & a FENDER STRAT . & a few other. I have to say , the 2420T is my pride and joy. Great review. Thanks.
Apparently it wasn't included on Infidels because Bob felt the song was incomplete, so I read somewhere recently. But likewise i think it's a great song, and i like your version too, 👍
Just purchased a G2420 in Walnut Stain which looks fantastic and also means no painted neck! (pet hate) Somewhat strangely it sounds great cleanish but even better with overdrive into my Marshall DSL20HR tube head and Line6 4 x 12" cabinet loaded with Celestion Vintage 30s. No sign of feedback with this setup but I did get feedback (controllable) when using my Laney VC15 tube combo. I know combo amps are more prone to feedback because of how close the amp is to the speaker. With the Marshall/quad setup the amp is a couple of metres away from the cabinet which may well explain the lack of feedback. The hollow body does produce a unique sort of tone, sort of hifi sounding.
Well I really like your playing I think I should get a few lessons in, nice playing. Regards the two guitars I thought the S7 sounded a bit muddy as you rolled off the tone and was quite harsh compared to the Fender but that could be me. Anyway, most helpful as I was considering a Larry Carlton. Thanks.
I bought a bunch of them over 20 years ago. I thought the booklet with the exercises to practice were really cool. It's not for rhythm and power cords. It's strictly to work on picking economy. I have one left I'm probably going to break it out and use it now that you've inspired me. God bless
I read or saw a review of Sire H7 has the nut truss rods quite high meaning that the tension is at least at lower cords on the board. Which can be fixed but I’m a bit a afraid to mess with that. Anyone can reply on this. I have great guitars like strat and Gibson but my Sire has become my favorite 🤩
Ì bought a 2420 t Brooklyn burst besides been a stunning looking guitar the tone and playability is fantastic for the price they sell for I just sorry I never bought one sooner
Thank you for the review! To my ears the Sire sounds like it has a more buttery smoother tone that blends nicer in the mix, while the fender has a more sparkly one with a bit of attitude that gets a bit more in front. I prefer the sire's sound in the mix from what you've shown us. I feel like they complete 2 different roles. If you're a live guitarist that wants his guitar to cut through when he's soloing i'd say fender is the way to go, for me, i'm getting a sire for the studio sound. But then again, if you're a live guitarist the locking tuners are not a bad idea either so....... dunno, you can upgrade later if you feel the need for them i suppose.
haha. I am not sure "partially" is a thing...in science. Just being cheeky. Thanks for the video. I have a Gibson 335, 1961 dot neck, and I have a Grote 335 copy. I got the Grote for 129 bucks delivered from Amazon. I spent another 300 on pickups, locking tuners, bridge, tail, etc. AND it plays, sounds, feels as good as a 20 grand Gibson. AND, I can drive it like I stole it. That Sire is a perfect 335, the Epiphone is a perfect 335, these guitars are all better machines than we made 50 years ago. Coz it is old does not make it better and if you are a gigging musician, are you really going to take a 20k guitar to a gig in Bolton? The only downside is the name; Grote sounds like something you might do on a farm, "ee av gorra grote some sheep today." I will be sanding the decal off.
@zackpack8 haha. I have played bars where a Squire would get nicked in two seconds flat. I am getting really interested in this Larry Carlton Sire, though. Happy playing, brother.
I liked the Fender better in every position except one: the humbucker in the S7 bridge position sounds better than the single coil in the Player bridge position.
I am in Korea and will go to Japan soon to buy an electric guitar , this video is helpful. thanks but right now I need a telecaster do you have any idea?
I think the Fender sounds the best and l am happy since l am lefty and Sire doesn’t make strat style in left. They say they do but extensive search in USA yields no luck.
Sire by a mile! The Fender isn't even comparable, costs more, less features, less quality hardware and the so called revered pickups pale in comparison overall. Sire also has straight pull going to the headstock so no need for those terrible string trees that f up your tuning! Sire STAYS in tune, Fender? Retune after 1-2 songs every time! And forget the whammy bar on a Fender, use, re-tune, use, re-tune, use, re-tune. Wash, rinse, repeat!
I used to have number 2! Sold it about 20 years ago when really strapped for cash and regret it now. Found it cheap in a second hand shop and used it for recording and touring. I only discovered it was the second produced just before selling it. Actually, it has four pickups (well, mine did) the forth is a hum-cancelling dummy coil that is installed in the back of the body ?!? There was a cutout and the pickup is recessed into the body. Another oddity was that you could see a second headstock logo that has been placed in the wrong location, painted over and another applied more centrally. I assume they were still refining the design.
I liked all the features of Sire S7 and and was planning to get one. Also very goo for my budget. However, comparing to fender, even player series, Sire sounded too simple and artificial against it.
Very nice demo. According to Sandra Sherman (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CYQUtJk-NYk.html) the H7 has to little low end. The 3 lower strings sound to "thin". What's your opinion?
