The more I think about it. The more I realize Don Cherry was actually our unofficial prime Minister of Canada. The man you listened to every Saturday night to gauge which way the wind was blowing. Miss him so much.❤❤❤
RIP Gord Downie. Very sad that two great Canadians - Don Cherry and the great Bobby Orr - have disappeared from Canadian media for not towing government and corporate lines..
I saw him play countless games from 1962 until retirement when I attended the Gardens in those days. I met him for the 1st time in Nov. 2011.....what an HONOUR!!! Canada will always miss you......we will NEVER forget.
Don Cherry hasn't stopped working...he retired. Ron Bigmouth "I'm-Perfect-For-Government-Work" MacLean is still working...but irrelevant without Don Cherry.
I know if he was drafted on the yanks or soxs don't doubt he wouldn't have gotten close to 300 wins and multiple chips. Played on one of the worst teams for over a decade and win nearly 20 games a year. He was something else.
Meet Don many many moons ago at his bar that he had opened in Barry. I didn't know shit about Hockey (sorry, I am a gear head). And I wanted to ask for an autograph for a friend of mine back in O'ville who was a huge fan of his. i tumbled my way to Don and gracefully asked for his autograph. And he oblige and instead of keeping my mouth shut. I asked him how did he enjoy being the coach for the blue-jays...........ooops.
