Pastor Nolan is INCREDIBLE. God definitely led me to him. I'm learning SO MUCH and growing closer to God everyday. Praise you, Jesus! Thank you for saving me.
The capacity, competency & character concept I love. However I do think capacity & competency is more collaborative than the job/responsibility of the leaders in position. Team leaders are responsible for providing frameworks and opportunities to develop. However they cannot force team members to get better, all we can do is empower them with the avenues to do so, but we can't force growth, only encourage it.
Introvert here married to one. WE HATE THE HANDSHAKE DEAL. Stop, enough of it. And calling you out to pray and be acknowledged, just as bad. Where can I hide.
Thank you for bringing this topic us communication leaders to research the current demographics not just our church's current demographics. If we don't consider the next generation, church's will die off with the generation they are currently catering to.
Great video as always! I'm commenting half-way through because you were just talking about capturing "sacred moments." We've been trying to be careful not to get pictures of super private personal moments or prayer ministry, but our ministry model revolves around healing prayer ministry. What would your recommendations be for the type of photos to use on the website when we don't actually take photos of our primary ministry?
This is exactly what my Sr Pastor and I(Associate/media/youth) have been looking for! When making a shot list for my church, is there a way to use those you've shot to provide examples? I have tried downloading some of them for our list, but it is password-required. Thank you for all that you all do! We've learned so much from you already!
We just started our collection of church photography equipment with one camera (Sony a7c) with a kit lens. We know we need another lens, but we're on a budget. Any suggestions?
Hey gentlemen! Great cover on this topic. Glad the algorithm put this video on my feed. Another I'd love to see you cover is equipment and setup for a quality live-streaming video service. I'm at a small church, so I'd appreciate some budget options if possible? Maybe starting with a beginner/small church, and upgrading as the budget and space allow? Thanks again!
Exactly what I need. I was literally trying to capture photos for our website and publicity last Sunday as I had no Pastor duties (a rarity). Any tips on how to do establishing shots when we don't have a distinct building and the way in is not in the most attractive street?
It is very disheartening to hear this! I watched and heard from this woman's own mouth , which sounds like a bunch of babble! I am a fan of Steven Furtick, but uncertain now! The only collected voice is Christians sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which includes Easter, Resurrection, Calvary! Jesus calls the sinners ( " outsiders)"! It is sad a pastor allows her to talk like this!!!!!
Hey guys! I love these simple methods to help churches connect with their congregations beyond the church walls. Quick question: Is it possible to create Instagram stories without having the app on your phone? I handle all the social media for our church, but to maintain some healthy boundaries, I don’t keep any social media apps on my phone. Instead, I use Vista Social to manage everything-posting, scheduling, and engaging-so I don’t have to be on each platform constantly. However, I’ve noticed I can only post photos to stories on Vista Social and not create custom ones with sliders and such. Do y'all have any suggestions or tips for this? Again, love the work y'all do to help churches engage the world with the Gospel online.
That wouldn't be possible. The app itself *is* the design and editing portal for this kind of thing. So it wouldn't be accessible through third-party tools.
Make sure you check your photos too. We had someone take pictures of all of the trees on our property talking about things only arborists would be interested in and post them to our business page. Make sure you check them and update like once a month or so.
We just hit 12k on Instagram as a church of 70 people but it's still hard to see any benefit because it reaches wide but not locally. How do we hyper-localize IG?
True hyper-localization comes through ad campaigns. Discovery algorithms do have more of a local component (especially TikTok) than in the previous era of social though.
I wish there was more data somewhere about the religious connections to Trump- why is this happening now with Christian Nationalism and where it's headed.
Thanks guys. I do not use Instagram any more on a personal level but still social media falls under my purview. These videos keep me up to date which helps keep my team up to date. Appreciate it. 🙏🏼
When I post random reels on my stories I get little views. When I post a picture with my gf or a family member I get way more views on stories. Why is that?
Right on team. I tell churches that Google search, Map pack and business is the digital high-street and your website is the digital front porch. They can't find your house if they don't know which street you live on.
51:48 what book are you talking about? Or website to be able to track the strength needed at my age currently so that I could lift my grandkids in a few decades later?
How many photos should we add? We've had about 15 pro photos added for years but another church in our community has HUNDREDS that they have uploaded. I believe it was limited when it first came out with quantity. Also, have you talked about Google grant ads and how to strategically use them without paying a company to manage them?
We’ve got a Google Ads Grant pod scheduled for September/October right now. For photo quality, I’d say quality over quantity here assuming all the boxes we discussed are being checked.
Seems this is more for the "mega-churches' which some of us aren't very fond of.........Megachurches seem to THRIVE on the 'show' not the Bible. , just my opinion for where I'm at..........the 'greeters' and the pastor can do all the 'hosting' that's needed
About the singles point...I have a theory that a lot of pastors and church leaders get married early (maybe earlier than average), so they spend most of their life married and thus aren't as familiar with singles' lives and needs. I also think that there can be a dearth of involvement options for adult singles. Many churches have options for kids, HS, YA, college, young couples, empty nesters, and elders, but singles in the 30-50 age bracket get kinda left out.
This whole thing implies the wrong method in general. Are Sunday's for attracting new visitors? Or are Sunday's for the edification of the Body? This completely disregards Discipleship. Very..."Cheap" in general.
Doesn’t disregard it. I address that in the first three minutes at 2:35. Many churches don’t operate that way though. If your church does, this information may not be as useful.
I think the pushback that people have is more with the language than the practice. The example you mentioned about the ancient church is perfect to illustrate that. The way I'm wired, I get the ick when overemphasizing a "fluid experience" because that absolutely sounds performative, syncretistic, and experiential rather than authentic and God-honoring. BUT, having a person help engage people within the service and coach them on where we are going so that nobody is in the dark and people feel cared for and informed about our liturgy so that they can be included is obviously way more words, but way less icky-sounding. At the end of the day, same function and practice, but language that may be more palatable for traditional-types. I definitely don't disagree with the value of bringing people along and inviting them to participate in a more informed, structured way. Super good.
Brady, thanks for this video. I really like this concept. I recently moved and started attending a new church, which is much smaller (50 - 60 people) and less programmed. I came from a larger church (2500+) and never noticed all the things done to ensure smooth transition and consistency. I have talked to my pastor about my first impressions and am now in charge of improving it. Funny story: On our first service at this church, one of the transitions went like this: Church Leader: "You know what time it is." (Then, everyone stood up and started walking around and greeting each other.) Me: "Nope, I have no idea what time it is - my best guess is intermission."
I enjoyed this conversation, but couldn’t miss the irony of the amount of cringy churchy jargon that seems to be naturally part of these guys’ vocabulary 😂 “let the Word wash over you”, “wrestle with scripture”, invite people to “the table”… and the worst of all… “folks”😂
Well, our audience is exclusively people that work and serve in churches. I can promise you we speak differently from stage to our churches. Different language for different audiences! 😁
