Thank you for this review! Almost bought MX Master only to found out that it actually laggy. You also brings up the technical explanation, which makes a strong evidence to your subjective experience. I guess I will just stick with my trackpad. It already gives me the best experience to work on a Macbook.
Okay, I just wanna be a 🤓 for a minute: The reason you couldn't uninstall obsidian using apt is because it wasn't installed using apt. It was installed with Flatpak, and the software manager told you that. In Mint, there are 3 packaging formats (tools): - snap (i.e. vlc is installed with snap) - apt (the one you tried, also discord and Minecraft are installed with apt, .deb is an apt portable package) - flatpak (the one obsidian was installed with) There's like 50 other formats out there, but Mint by default features only these. Each one has its own set of advantages and drawbacks, and apt (aka. advanced package tool or aptitude, whatever one you prefer) is "the original" way to install stuff on debian Linux distros ps. Yes it is simplified af and i know all the tirade about .deb and dpkg and apt having almost nothing to do with it, don't comment it out, move on with you life maybe
I have no idea why mx master series are so popular. Almost every tech youtuber recommend it. I bought mx master 3 and was surprised by how bad it is. With bluetooth, it's not usable. Even with the dongle, it doesn't feel precise enough. It's also quite heavy. I'm currently using Razer deathadder essential and quite happy with it even though it's wired. I'll definitely try out Keychron m3
Only thing I can say is that your C disk partition is gonna run out if you only allocate 100 GB to it, even if u try to install everything on the other one
Saying Linux is better has a lot to do with context. But it's now a real alternative to Windows. To spite being told how impossible it is to do anything on it, I've found that to be totally untrue. The core issues have been people giving long, complicated explanations on how to do things that have much simpler, easier ways to do them.
Nice one. I laughed a lot😎 Arch is overrated. I'm not even going to try to do it the Arch way because I'm just to dumb and besides that I'm not wasting my time when I can install MX Linux in under 3 minutes.
The state of gaming is sooo frustrating. All the major game engines work on all the operating systems. Scrolling through Steam is so depressing. 90% are not available on Mac, and probably 80% not on Linux. It's just laziness. That's what gets me about the modern OS debate. Windows is always touted as being the gaming platform. But it's not inherently better at games. It just *has* all the games.
2:39 verify signature. Nobody talks about how to do this and the wiki is confusing. Thankfully a channel called the Linux mench has a tutorial on how to actually do this.
I love how there are some obscure apps(in my opinion) near the top while some seemingly basic ones are closer to the bottom. Like msi afterburner seems so ubiquitous if you have a gpu. OBS being used by streamers and RU-vidrs and known of by everyone else because of streamers and RU-vidrs. Heck windows store should have been at the very top with how well known and common it is.
This is exactly how I got into Arch. I tried dualbooting Windows and Ubuntu, and it ended up breaking my windows install. I said "fuck it" and just went straight to Arch. I couldn't be bothered to install it manually, so I used archinstall. I kind of regret it though, one day I will install it the right way.
i'm someone who screenshares on discord using (redacted name) virtual camera. check your bitrate and general codec settings, the weird blocky things are a telltale sign of bad configs from that, or simply some setting in the (redacted name) player. (in the worst case you may be correct and that might just be a corrupted video). for search utilities, i remember (redacted name) having a few trinkets like (redacted name) has ((redacted name) being (redacted name) search bar), you might find some extension otherwise, i think. been a while since i've last been on (redacted name). for installing and uninstalling applications. word of advice, if you're uninstalling (redacted name) packages, prefer "purge" over "remove", this should additionally remove dependent packages that will become unused after removing a program. second thing, (redacted name) was available and installed through (redacted name), which is a different package manager with some different rules, most notably a permission/sandboxing system similar to your average (redacted name) phone. what you need to know is that uninstalling (redacted name) required you using (redacted name) remove (redacted name) lastly, your preferred screenshot tool should already be available by pressing the PrintScr button, even better when the shortcuts prompts you to select a rectangle on the spot like i configured in my (redacted name) desktop. shouldn't be difficult to configure app shortcuts. for a suggestion, there's a couple of video editors like (redacted name), (redacted name) or (redacted name) caption composer you can find on (redacted name) alongside games like (redacted name) and (redacted name) which you can have some fun with. i distrust youtube filter with sending long comments so i'm not gonna write any further. have fun exploring :3
3:50 ish. NEVER use 100% of your SSD space. The less space you use, the longer it lasts. If you use ~100% of your SSD it'll break. This is why you should leave at least 10% as a reserve when partitioning your SSD
