I haven't operated from that area of the grounds. Maybe I'll go give it a whirl from over there and see how it goes. I'm usually on the Northwest End which puts me as far as I can get from the AM broadcast antenna that is nearby and causes massive noise levels when operating near the gun range. Just happy I finally got my Kilo there!
Nice setup. I also like using my WinkeyerUSB, even though it is a bit of a hassle to have another gadget to connect. The advantages of using it with logging software are great for automated messages, but I also like the consistency it provides regardless which radio I am using. Your portable table looks very usable. I just got one (straps to the back of the seat, so you operate from the back seat). I'm looking forward to using it when the temps cool down here in UT. 73
Yes, whenever you use an external winkeyer to send code, it mimics a straight key on the output. Thanks for the comment, coming back to this video makes me want to take that radio out again
Jon, nice video. What is the table thing you have on the passenger seat? Are you recording on your iPhone? How are you making the transcript? How much noise does the Tesla create?
Recording on Insta360 Go3s action camera. The transcript is made in Adobe Premier software, the Tesla creates a lot of noise on certain freq, so have to POWER OFF through the menu sometimes.
I do something similar with the 7300 but don't use a winkeyer, just two cables to the notebook. Then I use N1MM to do the sending when not using the key. What if any is the benefit of the winkeyer eeems like extra hardware to hall around?
I guess the advantage is having a paddle as well as n1mm sending cw in the same outing. The other advantage is in the past I have had RF issues on my laptop when using a usb connection directly to the radio... but that is solvable. More of an issue with the ic-705 than the 7300.
Good morning. Now I master this plane quite well, which was new to me. But now my tanks are empty and I can't figure out how to fill them. In XP Weights and Fuels, I have over an hour of flight, but my copit gauges are at zero. How to do? Thanks in advance. Frank
Hi Jon , how to get rid of two pilots on the seat. Unable to get rid of them. Also no response from speed levers and few other switches too. Kindly if you can throe some light on the same.
This tutorial must be more interactive and MAKING POINTS. As the host, you should read the OM before sitting in front of your microphone and listening to the experienced pilot talking about what and how to do it. Please do not overact your host position. This is not HOLLYWOOD. After all hope, there is no bad feeling.
I love that spot. I activated that park on 2m FM alone! But, after that, couldn't help it. I had to slip 20m CW in too... I'm going to have to order that radio. I like what I've seen with it so far.
I need to get back up there. I do enjoy the TR45 radio. Do know that that maker announced his retirement so just a few left to buy before they go away forever. 73 Jon K7CO
Somehow when engaging the autopilot I only get 5deg bank turns not matter the mode (heading or nav). I'm using X PLane 12. Any idea what could cause this?
Nice setup. Easy to deploy. Where did you get the spooled up antenna from? Also, what do you call and where did you get the seat tray you have your radio on? I can do an antenna but need that seat shelf. I have a steering wheel shelf coming so the logging computer and CW paddles can sit on the steering wheel shelf, but I need that seat shelf. Barry, KU3X
Hi Barry, the antenna can be found at reelefhw.com/ and if you search for Autoexec car desk on Amazon.com it will show a few different models available. I think my particular version is discontinued. 73 Jon K7CO
Interesting key. Is it making some “mechanical” sounds? I like how you’ve set up your radio in the car. I catch UT once in a while from San Antonio. I hope to meet you on the air one of these days. Vy 73 de David AE4LH
That looks like a very fun program, unfortunately us Chromebook users will never get to have fun like that unless there is some type of $300 solution that my retirement can fund, lol. I have a TR-45L Skinny on order. My TR-35 is in for repairs as I broke off the BNC connector one morning during an activation. Its hard to get by without a radio you use every morning, lol. Cheers, Davey - KU9L
Great Vid Jon !I just bought a Twin Otter on Fseconomy, and bought a wrong one, now bought the Aerosoft one for msfs ,it sucks , if i sell it back to the bank.
