I’m a stand up comedian from Bangalore and have been performing since 2016. Struggling to answer life's most basic questions, my jokes come from a place of confusion and ignorance. Being another clueless and generic MBA grad, I now spend my evenings trying to make people laugh at my crippling mediocrity. Welcome to my channel! Same here. My name is Sreekumar from Chennai. I was working in blore. PPL ask me whether I am a malayalee as Sreekumar is common name. Then I tell I am from Chennai. Huh so Tamil huh. Then I tell no I am from old Madras and mother tongue is Telugu. Sometimes I feel good tell about madras history.
I am hopeful. A day will come, when a stand-up comedian from South India, specially Tamil, will do an entire act without north-south reference and still engage with his/her audience
I am from Assam. I have become a north indian in Bangalore. Only uneducated and/or old north indians call south indians madrasi (because Madras province almost consisted of entire south india minus Mahisur and Travancore) but educated, uneducated, old, new, rural, urban all south indians think everyone up Vindhya is north indian. I don't mind being called a north indian. But when I visited delhi I realized that north indians don't consider me north indian. Hindi is not my language (yes, not entire india speaks indi), our society, culture all different. So its all very confusing. Stereotyping exists everywhere. In west, we are all pakis.
