A lot of these dogs are quite nice, typey but nice. There are definitely some dogs there though that should've been DQd. Judge seems too lenient. The first dog is a marcato dog I know that.

Any chance that you can tell me where I can find a show catalog about that group. I'm in the market for a Dalmatian puppy and those looked quite nice. I know it was many years ago. If I can get the organizer's link, I may be able to get the catalog. Thanks for the help. I'll keep digging for info.
WOw even the little show choke collar is being used wrong its up side down. Sad....these dogs are just as sad as the women that put their kids thru these kinds of shows. Ill stick to the working like Shepherds they are loyal and much better dogs better trained too as you dont need to use treats while working them cause its fun
It's not a choke collar. It's kind of like a slip lead, but it has a stop. They're being used correctly, but honestly could be longer in leverage. These dogs aren't sad at all, but there is definitely a dog in here that shouldve been dqd from the beginning. Dog shows are no where near the same as a kids beauty pageant. A dogs lineage has nothing to do with it's training. Training is an environmental factor. Loyalty also can't reliably be measured. You should always use some sort of positive reward even if the dog is doing what it enjoys. It's called positive reinforcement.
Dakota Doyle Ugh yes this dog...and the loose ligaments too. That loose ligamentation is what makes the dog look weak all over, weak pasterns and hindquarters.

Wouldn't that be a disqualification? If a dog's conformation is so obviously screwed up like that, why would it even be allowed in the ring as a representative of the breed?
Weirdanimalboy because it is not a disqualification. It is a very severe and serious fault but not to the extent at which the judge is allowed to disqualify the dog. Just because we see some dogs like this occassionally it does not mean they win an award or it is considered correct. Many of the dogs in the video were actually not all that bad. Mikasa and Wesson were here which are dogs titled in herding proving that the gait is functional.
So a dog with a white coat can be disqualified, even if that dog is essentially perfect in all other aspects. But a dog that's a certain coat color can't be disqualified even though she's basically walking on her hocks. Completely understandable.
Most these dogs have level backlines when not being stacked. The stack is what creates the illusion of a "sloping" back which everyone seems to believe. The real problem with american showlines is not the back but the over angulation of the hocks, which creates that weak unbalanced looking trot. sickle hocks are a big problem..
+Tt Ss German show lines tend to have extreme croups even when not stacked, every American line I've seen has a level topline in a 4 point stack. The common issue with American lines is over angulation of the rear legs, not a "sloping back."
Megan Osborn A lot of breeders have been misinterpreting the standard. The American standard calls for a 90 degree angle in the hind quarters, but this only applies when the leg is positioned naturally with the paw placed under the pelvis. North American breeds mistook this for meaning that the leg should be 90 degrees when the hock is vertical, which creates the dysfunctional and overangulated rear.

Not this guy. He died at a young age. He became a Grand Victor because he was the best dog that year but honestly was a complete mess. He wasn't so much of a good mover and was a little awkwardly built if you ask me. If you wanted to use oldies as examples you should've used a different dog... Perhaps American Grand Victor Ch. GSD MOM The woman in the red attire actually has her dogs partake in herding regularly. I've noticed American showlines are more obedience and herding title based, while German showlines are generally IPO focused.

Well actually there is no such thing as a "show breed". Its practically necessary to have dogs show in the ring so they can choose which dogs are good example and which are not. This way good traits are kept by breeding only the dogs who are proven working and show champions.
***** dog shows are dog shows(confirmation). Dog shows that show dogs working are not shows... They are schutzhund, tracking, herding etc trials. If you know what a dog show is actually for and what its like then you would know that many of the dogs shown in the AKC ring that do become Champions are proven working dogs. MANY of them have proven that they are capable of working...at least do herding. I also do not like the dogs that show terrible traits such as that bit I disagree with the fact that people say these are crippled dogs. A few were showing bad traits but it doesn't mean we consider that correct, understood? Very few "deformed" Gsds ever become champions and those who do, look bad in the ring but are nice dogs when they move on their own. Most people think its just standing around and gaiting in a circle but its more than that. Judges check the dogs Alot. Sometimes the winners dog is not correct but it is not the judge's fault. The judge only chooses from the bunch of dogs the people bring in. If people bring in bad dogs, they can't do anything about it. Frog legs... Rightttt... That's such an ignorant thing to say. It's what the people that have been brain washed by the "Pedigree dogs exposed" documentary say. First off it's nothing close to what a frog looks like. It's a terrible "comparison". Second... Nobody likes a dog that looks that way. We seriously can't believe that everyone thinks that we consider that correct and attractive. IT'S NOT!!!!
Did you not seriously watch the movement of the very first youngster in this video? That dog has perfect kinetic balance. And what makes you a herding expert? You showed your lack of knowledge when you posted a picture of a gangley puppy in a partial sit and tried to make people think it was standing with it's hocks on the ground.You never gave the ages of the dogs in the pictures and everyone who has studied dogs for more than 30 seconds knows that large breeds don't mature until four years of age. You twisted the facts to suit your personal agenda.Your intent is clearly to harm reputable breeders and eliminate all dog breeders. Were it not for dedicated dog breeders the dog would have never existed except as Pariah. And if you had your way that is what will evolve.
