Welcome to my channel, here we're all Eurovision all the time. I react to Eurovision songs, national selection entries, other songs by Eurovision artists, and more! Videos are released as songs are released, so always subscribe to stay the most up to date :).
Such an underrated song in my opinion. Yes, the live version was a bit lacking compared to the studio version, doesn't take away that she is a very good singer. Also I love me a windmachine moment. She served
Great to see a reaction video to this legendary song. I still remember my reaction in 1995 as a patriotic 11 year old who was watching the Eurovision song contest on TV whilst holding a small plastic British flag. After hearing Nocturne I packed my little flag away. My mother asked me what happened. I told her that all of the countries might as well call their contestants home because nobody was going to beat Norway that night.
I am soo disappointed they did not sing this on the Eurovision 2024, their BEST song. I was so excpecting them to come down in a discoball and rock the place. Unfortunately that did not happen.
Ukraine and Russia still got along back then even during the revolution. My best friend is a pro-Russian Ukrainian girl, her sister was even more pro-Russian than her but she became extremely anti-Russian with the war. That song was, as far as I remember, an homage of Ruslana to her great grand father who had been a Cossack, an ethnic group spattered between Russia and Ukraine with their own rules, communities, and system of government, characterized also by men and women being equal when no society was like that, etc. We were at the home of my godfather back in that Eurovision, it was one of the longest, it ended at 02:00 in the morning and both my father, me, and my godfather wanted them to win, but the girls didn't, guess why :P PS: I am pro-Russian, but that song oh god oh fuck.
Came back to watch this reaction one more time. There's an interesting fact about the band that performed this song. On the members of the band (Matthías Matthíasson, also known as Matti Matt, he was a singing voice for Magnus Scheving character Sportacus (Íþróttaálfurinn) in the original "LazyTown" plays ("Áfram Latibær!" and "Glanni Glæpur í Latabæ") had his own song that qualified to the final of the national selection. The song is called "Eldgos" ("Eruption"). ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Jsf_3LOPYSM.html - there's his national final performance. He had to change the costume before he could perform the other song in the final (he performed 4th out of 7 in the national final, Sjonni's Friends were performing 7th out of 7).
Placed 4th with 111 points. Should've won easily. The lyrics tugs my heart strings. The golden era of Eurovision was pre 2000 encompassing the 70s 80s and 90s. I remember ABBA winning the contest in 1974 and the rest is history.
That song , it may be the most strong one that Greece , sent to Eurovision, back in Düssendorf in 2011. 7th place, not bad. Stereo Mike and Loucas Yiorkas, gave their soul on stage. Especialy the melodic singing parts of Loucas were fire. Fantastic modern, mix of hip hop and laiko, greek zeimbekiko dance in that 9/8 , characteristic time signature.
You can also look up what "kesäpanot nyt"(was used on last Finnish line) means in Finnish. I ain´t gonna tell you now cause we might have children around us lol.
