Diva is derived from it.

As a Ukrainian, I think it's safe to say that this song is more related to Ukraine, because ''With us mama Teresa, diva Maria'' might mean that we are being protected by higher creatures if I can say it like that. Furthermore there are some songs in this year's vidbir about power of women, and I think this one is included. In my opinion this is not related to raising a child, as you said, but being a woman overall. That's exactly what Alyona rapped in her part about. You're almost spot on. The condensed message would be that no one is born a saint, our actions determine our destination, with emphasis on responsibility... I hope this made some sense? And "Diva" is not only historical, it actually means "woman" in old slavic. In Ukrainian, with the exception of "Diva Maria", we usually use this word to describe successful business women or spoiled rich wives, or just women that know their price, sort of speak.. It has limited uses but its meaning holds strong presence in our language. And our word for "girl" is still "div_chyna". We are aware of the term "drag queen" though.
