Welcome to my Channel, which is intended to highlight all railway locos especially steam but also diesel and electric and the odd Clyde River Ferry, Steamer etc. I try to get a mix of subjects and I'm learning all the time so bear with me, I'm still under construction! My Channel is intended primarily to show Steam locos at their best. I am a retired Mechanical Engineer enjoying my hobbies of photography and locomotives preferably but not excluslively steam. I have uploaded a selection of great vids by talented photographers from north and south of the border to add to my own efforts. I would like to travel over the border a bit more in 2012, both to scenic lines like the S&C but to heritage lines and private railway centres.
Just stumbled across this video of yours Ken and found it very interesting as it's an area i frequently film around today. Do you still get out and about these days ? I only moved to Scotland in 2019 but love to get out with my cam as much as possible and was only at Coatbridge last week. I have given you my sub in the hope you still get out filming, Colin.
Excellent video Ken, very well shot and great HD picture. I knew the Bulleid pacifics were renown for wheelslip, but that bit at 11:40 took me by surprise! You are right, when I have visited Carlisle in more recent years, it has taken me by surprise how quiet it can get for such long periods. Great to see a pair of 50s head up the Nith Valley as well, a line they worked regularly on West Coast diversions.
Hope you are well Ken, long time since we spoke on RU-vid or Scot-Rail. In 2002 I could never see the 67s becoming such an under-used class of loco. The regulars used on the Fort William sleeper when I travelled on it a lot in 2014-15 were quite tired-looking and faded in EWS red/gold. Great video.
All the 3 car class 314s are scrapped except 314209 renumbered 614209 have retired from ScotRail in December 2019 and it looks like they won’t be coming back. Class 614209 still survives in 2022 however it is not used for ScotRail anymore. Most worn the Strathclyde livery. All accommodation is standard class only means no first class and no toilets on the class 314s. Thankfully none are with the operator anymore. All Caledonian Sleeper and ScotRail convey a lavatory on the trains. I bet rail staff and passengers are probably pleased that class 314s have finished with ScotRail. Class 314s are made in 1979. 😊
Some great content there, it takes me back to the days when I used to load those LBT Trains for Fiddlers as well as some other locations. Just a note, when they were going to Fiddlers loaded from the LBT, They were class 7, not class 6 👍.
The days when there was just a few of us waiting in the cold, snow, rain, sunshine etc, to see the trains pull up that bank. Now the whole bloody universe and its dog wants to see them
A fantastic video of our day out at Carlisle in September Ken. Although it was quiet on the freight front, it was a most enjoyable day and it was fantastic to see you once again. I hope we can meet up again soon. Best wishes - Allan. :-)
nice to see this Ken but sad that there's hardly a spotter in sight..I was there for 4 hours or so a couple of years ago and saw 2 freight. great shame to 5 years ago. We are lucky here with Stafford, Tamworth and Ealing Broadway and Clapham Junction etc,.However I am not so keen these days to sit at any station all day. Older and wiser. Hope you and your lady are keeping well.
Yea Keith, we're both keeping well and hope you and June are too! I know what you mean regarding hardly any spotters, it didn't really feel like Carlisle any more, sad to say. You're certainly blessed with all these places down there with lots of trains to film, and I'm with you and I'm not inclined to sit all day at any station, although having a pal like Alan with me made the company enjoyable and helped to pass the time. I always watch your videos and enjoy your humorous conversations and of course your knowledge of movements is great! Keep safe and well my friend. Best wishes.
Excellent video Ken and a good representation of our day out. That was an excellent idea to add in the feature shots of Gleneagles station, it really is a lovely place. The panning shots, particularly of the HSTs' passing Gleneagles were superb. :-) :-) :-)
Thanks Keith, we get quite a few of these diversions over the G&SW route which helps to make up for the loss of the coal traffic and closure of Barclays works (Wabtec). Hope you and June are keeping safe and well!

@@KenBrownekb71000duke Good to hear you are doing OK! :) Here in Poland we were free to move however masks are mandatory at all times, hotels are closed, too. But the trains run normally so I was able to travel around my area a bit. They've just announced that some of the restrictions will soon be lifted so hopefully it is going for the better quite soon! :) Best wishes from Pomerania - Mike
Yes the ROG drivers seem quite friendly if you give them a wave first! The sound from the 37 was great - same as 37611 a few weeks ago - that driver has since been in touch with some handy “inside” info! Best wishes as always.

I was a little surprised to see anybody at Kilmaurs Ken, hence why I blew the horn for you! While driving 37's, almost all locos actually, you don't get the same noise in the cab as you get lineside. This is a really good soundtrack of a 37 on full power and working hard. I commend your video and hope you don't mind me sharing it! All the best, Andrew. (The driver...)
I'm honoured to have you comment Andrew and no probs with you sharing it! I live in Kilmaurs so it was a 5 mins walk for me! That's the best 37 sound track I've ever recorded and it's thanks to you for the amazing sounds. Yea, they to do the same here Keith, but daytime appearances are quite common too on Colas test trains. Thankfully the local Brodie rail repair works bring ROG 37s and 47s up here too. Thanks for your kind comments and best wishes. Ken
