WCML Diverts at Barassie 3-05-21 featuring classes 66 68 & 88

in this short video we see three diversions off the WCML on to the G&SW route on a cold May evening. All drivers were generous with the tones and thundered through the station. Note the raised panto on 88007 - not something I've noticed before on an 88/68 combo. Hope you enjoy!

Why would they divert via Barassie? Wouldn't they need to turn north for Kilmarnock then via Dumfries? Any information welcome..

Thanks Keith, we get quite a few of these diversions over the G&SW route which helps to make up for the loss of the coal traffic and closure of Barclays works (Wabtec). Hope you and June are keeping safe and well!
