I'm a chap living at the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales. I like to ride around the countryside on my motorbike, and make silly little videos to review things, give helpful tips, and moan about bad design when I see it.
The question everyone asks: What's the light running along the centre of the ceiling - it looks like the roof panels don't meet up in the middle :) Well actually it's a nice design feature - there is a translucent white plastic piece that runs along the ridge of the roof, to let light in during the day. It's just hard to see on my camera.
Holy shit this saved me so much stress, I was freaking out because the drivers seemed fine, the lights were connected, just no response. Truly thank you for this!!!
Cool! Just the video I was looking for as I was a bit surprised by the price but it does look well made and convenient. I guess the price includes the rack and back rest?
@@seansixfive to be honest the bike was used when I got it, and the previous owner had fitted the box. However, the back rest is built in to it. Also I can't imagine the price not including the rack, because the box needs that specialist rack and electronic connection to work.
@@mrhouse3826 There's a magnet in the hex head that is also required for it to work. I think the Suzuki Burgman has a similar mechanism. But yeah, I wouldn't keep anything really valuable under the seat.
This is very helpful and I wish I had known about it sooner. I lost my keys yesterday after leaving them in the top box lock. About 2 miles later I noticed the key light flashing on the dash. Of course silly me stopped the bike and it wouldn’t start again. So I had to walk back to where I was last stopped at and luckily I found them at the side of the road.
Mine is from 2019, still standing straight and assembled in no time. I have even dissasembled it several times and reassembled it in another spot, still waterproof, although I was sure it would start leaking
@@zootius same as you were showing in the video. The motorbike was acting up and would not start. We followed step by step the processes and it finally started. Only thing is we had to repeat the process again afterwards so probably need to figure out what s wrong with the help of the dealer.
Well what with other issues judder CVT noise and this that’s finally confirmed I definitely will be keeping my NT1100 😮this bike is full of problems and complicated solutions it’s really put me off 😢
@@grayman999 Fair enough. All I would say is that I've yet to encounter problems with judder, noise and keyless signal jamming yet, but that's not to say that it doesn't happen for other people. The thing I try to keep in mind is that people tend to only moan on the internet when they are having a problem. There may be a silent majority of ADV owners who haven't had an issue. NT1100 is a great bike though.
I've owned mine for nearly 2 years. At about 6 months I had the bike lock me out while out at a party. I used this method to open and start my bike. I had been having issues with the bike not recognizing the key for some weeks before. I reported this to my local Honda dealer and they put a warranty claim in for a replacement. Honda agreed to the claim. All fixed and I've never had any issue subsequently. However, I spoke to the mechanic who did the work and he gave me a rundown on what was replaced. So we obviously needed a new ignition switch also 2 new replacement keys and a replacement ECU, add to that large parts of the body work from front to back being removed to swap the parts. If you are out of warranty this is a £1600 + VAT job. After 2 years has passed and you are out of warranty this could easily be half the value of the scooter, 3 to 4 years and you have to start thinking is it worth fixing. The lame argument that its convenient to have the keys in you pocket and not have to rummage around in your pockets is an aspect I could do without as I've never had an issue with a boring key. Add to the inconvenience of not just having the key but the bulk of having carry the black seat opening key, the card with the key code on it a spare key battery just so you can make sure that's not an issue I would advise that you keep a copy of the emergency start sequence as I can guarantee that you wont remember what you were meant to do at 10.30 on a rainy night. Not so convenient now. After all of this I have to say that the ADV for me has been the best all-around scooter I've owned but I will be looking to replace it once the warranty has run out and try to find a scooter with a normal bog standard key. Even cheap scooters such as the Honda 125 cub have the same system and would be a technical right off in insurance terms in about one and a half years.
Nice video m8 really helpful It was good to meet you today and thanks for taking the time to chat I'm still shocked how light the ADV350 actually feels even with my leg problems Cheers Keep the Sticky Side Down
@@michellewong2911 sorry I haven't installed any electricity or lights. FYI the central strip in the roof is semi transparent plastic to help light it up during the day.
Well just picked up my 2024 ADV 350 yesterday this is good to know, Question the dealer only gave me one key fob is that customary, they all spoke Thai.
@@daveclarke5766 AFAIK a new bike will have two fobs and two emergency seat openers. In the UK at least, this seems to be the case. Did they give you the tag with the emergency code on it?
I bought my ADV 350 in Thailand. They only gave me one smart key and 2 emergency seat openers along with the emergency code tag. This issue has happened to me twice in the year I have owned the bike. I left it 5 minutes or so and in each case it came back to life but this solution is good to know. My owners manual is in Thai 😊. I have copied the code and procedure to my phone
I had a SH350i, couldn't see the point of the complication. Sometimes several tries before could get it started. Never would have again. Now have Triumph Speed 400 with normal key.
Yeah, I pondered on that, but TBH the thieves are likely to know this stuff anyway. Better for owners to be aware than trying to pretend this info isn't already out there :)

Is your racking just on top of the plastic floor? And if so, does the plastic floor seem fine where the legs are? Couple of reviews on the Costco site where people have said the floor was flimsy so wondering if I might need to put some sheets of OSB over the whole floor when mine arrives, perhaps.
3 months in - I've stopped wearing my other watches, yikes! This is the ultimate every day beater. Also, it hasn't lost a single second in 2 months. The Miyota movement is great! I've only found one downside to the watch - the crystal is NOT sapphire, just mineral glass. I banged it against my granite kitchen counter and chipped the tiniest bit off the edge of the glass. Invisible to anyone else but I know it's there. If Addiesdive made this with sapphire crystal it would be deffo worth the price increase.
