This explains why so many of the affluent professionals in and around Atlanta are well versed and aquainted with therapy and the bennefits of seeing a counselor and/or therapist. First Lady Rosslyn Carter has done our world a tremendous service for encouraging others to support the field of mental health and lobbying for the support of mental health comsumers. Kudos to her and thank God for her good work.

I shed a tear not only in gratitude for Carter's example, but for the America that could have been, if we had not lost our minds and started electing corrupt people who appeal to our lowest instincts. Reganism was a mental illness of our polity. Untreated, it worsened into Citizens United and Trumpism. Just look at the chasm between Carter's humble engagement vs. the prideful manipulation of Trump. It will take us a very long time to get back to making progress and not just produce a few billionaires.

What a terrifying figure! I bet it will take decades to fully comprehend the devastating impact her "repressed memory" theories had on so many innocent lives. Surprised that such a reputable institution is even endorsing her.

I read Dr Terr's book Too Scared to Cry twenty years ago and have kept it on my shelf ever since. A heavy read and fascinating. The field of psychiatry has been ignoring the effects of real, external events on people in favor of studying internal fantasies, motivations and whatnot, ever since Freud. Terr is part of a welcome shift to correct that bias, with her detailed research on traumatized children and how to recognize and help them. Before the 70s or so it just wasn't being done, at all.

Why the hell is trial by jury in criminal matters, especially in a situation as complicated and subtle as this one, even a thing? People go to law school for years to be able to evaluate evidence, and then verdicts are decided by 12 random people after a crash course? I don't think anyone but a judge could have given a verdict in a case like this.

Important point that I picked is patient cannot be criteria guided, they can present different from books description. So until we seek new things and anticipate discovery, we can't find something new treatment means of helping patients.

So what do you do if you think your covert narcissistic mother killed your four brothers after she gave birth to them. This is a burning question for me. It was a family secret. My father told me about the brothers when I was 16 and the fact that I would have had four brothers if they had lived. It took me several decades more to discover what covert narcissism is and to look back at what my father was telling me. Knowing what I know now I think my mother killed the boy babies to hurt my father. There was a boy baby born in between each one of the girls. Why did only the girl babies live? Four girls lived, four boys died. I would like to find justice for my brothers if she did murder them. Is it too late? It was 50 years ago.

I'm in a wheelchair wearing a diaper and eye patch. I (trained dentist from Norway and photographer) have cerebellar ataxia and my cognitive abilities have gone south over the last two years. Finally I've found one smart neurologist who can explain what's going on. I had no idea that the cerebellum was so important both for the physical and the mental functions. It feels so good that someone has done the research and presents the facts. Thank you!!
