We're Karin and Jeremy, just your average married couple with regular full-time jobs and limited vacation time. We have a passion for travel and we want to make the most of our time off. Follow along on our adventures as we maximize our vacations on our series called "Mapping It"
A few fun facts about Bosnia and Herzegovina: 1. The potato "burek" you ate in Sarajevo is not called burek actually. It's called krompirusa. "Pita" or a pie is the name for all the cheese or vegetable stuffed pies in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the name "burek" is reserved only for the meat filled pie. 2. The tradition of jumping off the Mostar's old bridge for money collected from the onlookers is almost as old as the bridge itself. An Ottoman Turkish travel writer Evlija Celebija wrote about it in the 16th century on his travels across the Herzegovina. Thank you for visiting Bosnia and Herzegovina. 💙
That's really interesting information and great to know! Thanks for sharing with us! We loved exploring Bosnia and Herzegovina, seeing the beautiful scenery and the historic cities and trying delicious food! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for bringing it our attention, looks like the Airbnb host changed the listing. Here's the correct link for the Airbnb we stayed in in Dubrovnik (and we updated the link in the description too): www.airbnb.com/rooms/1071725449808874146?source_impression_id=p3_1719668875_P3xaunMAjuOAGD89
We've only been to Bosnia in July, so we're not sure if the flowers will still be in bloom in October. It might depend on what the weather is like and if there's been a lot of rain/cold days. Thanks for watching!
You are a wonderful couple and thank you for visiting my homeland, and I'm really sorry that the wrestlers robbed you of your tickets to the cow waterfall! The ticket price is 20 BAM (10 euros). You should have checked the prices online in advance! Unfortunately, corruption is the biggest symptom of the disease called nationalism in my country! Citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina who consider themselves Croats prefer Croatia and work for their interests, destroying in every possible way the reputation, economy, security, etc. of Bosnia and Herzegovina, because their goal is to destroy the country, and that part that they ethnically cleansed of all those who did not considered themselves Croats, eventually joined Croatia! That's why I recommend all tourists to inform themselves about the prices in advance!
It was pretty cold in December, but not too bad (but we're from Minnesota, so we're used to cold weather). We were very comfortable with winter coats, gloves, and scarves. Layers are your friend because it can be windy at times. There wasn't much snow while we were there, but it did rain a lot, so we definitely recommend packing an umbrella or raincoat. Thanks for watching!
Did they have the elf houses on the side of the road still. I remember that from when I was there, they built tiny houses for the elves when I was there. It's like a whole tradition.
We read about that tradition while we were researching for our trip, but once we arrived, we completely forgot to look! It's entirely possible they still do this, but we didn't see any while we were there. Thanks for watching!
We had some locals cheering us on so it was a little easier with their support 😄 and we now that we've done it, we can say we've gone swimming in the arctic!
Thank you for the great blog with lots of important information on going to Nusa Penida from Sanur. We will be visiting in late July and we were wondering how do we arrange for pick up from Nusa Penida port to our hotel? Can you share contact details of the driver who picked you up from the port? Thanks in advance.
We just messaged our Airbnb before we got there to ask them to organize a driver to pick us up from the harbor. When we got off the boat, there was someone holding up a sign waiting for us, it was great. And after we got to the Airbnb, we were able to have them organize a sunrise tour. We highly recommend reaching out to your hotel or your airbnb host to have them help you organize a driver. If you're interested in where we stayed on Nusa Penida, you can find the link in the video description. Thanks for watching and have a great trip!
I am definitely going to follow your adventures through Norway! I loved your video! You might want to explain what fish balls are a little earlier in your meal prep, just so you don’t lose the unknowledgeable. 😅 Also, half the fun is attempting to say the meal in the native language… fiskeboller!
You make a good point about the fiskeboller! 😄 We have a lot of fun adventures in Norway to share and some incredible bucket list activities being crossed off, so it should be a lot of fun! 🇳🇴
You two are so cute. We loved the bloops they happen to all of us! I thought sandwiches for dinner but you surprised us with a gourmet meal! Incredible it was so bright at 11pm! Fun video! ~Cara 😊
We definitely surprised ourselves with that meal too! We were planning to do something simple, but going to the local grocery store really inspired us to be more adventurous! Being so far north in summer is such a cool experience to see the midnight sun! Thanks for watching!
Most tourist videos about Croatia are stereotypical. Natural and cultural historical sights, fancy restaurants... I was most impressed by how much you tried to learn about the places you visited; olive groves, wineries, and especially your excellent pronunciation of the names of places, wines, olive oil... From your video, I, a Croat, learned something new about my homeland. Hvala
That is so great to hear, we're really glad you enjoyed our video! We loved exploring Croatia and feel like we just scratched the surface of all the things to discover, it's such an incredible country. Thanks for watching!
We love the Minnesota State Fair! It's one of our favorite events every year and we're looking forward to another fun time at the fair later this summer 😄
Wow! You packed a lot into this vacation! We LOVE Chania we’ve been many times. Just found you and after your Bali video we decided to start from the beginning of your vlogs. ~Cara 😊
We loved Chania! We were only there a short time, but we fell in love with the place and wish we could have stayed longer. The scenery, the people, the FOOD - it's all incredible! Not many people watch our first vlogs (those were made when we didn't feel comfortable talking to the camera LOL), so we're pretty impressed that you're giving them a shot! If you stick it out, our more recent videos are much better!
You two are so cute! We watched the entire video…we’ve never been to Bali but feel like we have now! What a beautiful video loved the drone shots and you’ve done a wonderful job at filming and story telling. Great job looking forward to more of your channel & exploring. ~Cara (Found you from Daily Drop Lounge😊)
Thank you so much! If you liked the drone shots in this video, you might enjoy our Iceland in September video (to be fair, it's hard to make a bad video about Iceland because it's just such an incredible place). Thanks for watching!
It really depends on what the weather's like when you visit. Some of the areas might still be covered in snow making for difficult driving (F-roads might not be open at that time of year), and hiking trails might be closed in some areas. That's exactly why we went in September: decent weather and all roads and hiking trails were still open for the season. Thanks for watching!
I like how you keep it real and honest in your vlogs. Karin is definitely keeping the videos alive. Jeremy is so quiet and usually has a frozen smile. Assuming he's very shy or nervous? Still, I enjoy your videos and like that they're not too polished and glamorous, since that's unrealistic for my travel.
Hello! Thanks a lot for the detailed video and itinerary! What week of September were you traveling in? How many hours of daylight did you have each day to explore?
We visited at the beginning of September. Sunrise and sunset were different each day based on the location we were at (sometimes by as much as 30 minutes difference). On average, we had about 13-14 hours of daylight each day. Sunrise was usually between 5:45am - 6:30am, and sunset was usually anytime between 7:45pm - 8:30pm, depending on where we were. We had quite a bit of daylight, but we pushed our itinerary to the max and had to pretty much be on the road by sunrise every day. Which is why this itinerary is much easier to do in the summer because you can stay out later at night instead of waking up really early.
We're glad you enjoyed it! We bought our tickets for the Vienna opera directly from the Wiener Staatsoper website. Here's a link to the main website, and then you can go to "Calendar & Tickets" to search for and buy tickets: www.wiener-staatsoper.at/en/ Thanks for watching!
Also in North Macedonia have this Clipsy snacks , and is amazing 😍 first try maybe not but after is sooo delicious i rate 6/10 .Next time plss try Smoki is even more better than Clipsy.
Clipsy definitely got better the more we tried them! We tried Smoki when we visited Slovenia and we made a video for it, you can watch it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CgFTCyeDnY8.html Thanks for watching!
We're glad you enjoyed it! For the rental car, we had to pay a one-way fee and it was huge ($700 USD) but it's not necessarily because we dropped it off in Croatia, it's because we dropped it off at a place that was different than the location we picked it up. We knew it was going to be expensive to have a one-way rental but it was the best option for our travel plans. It's not always the most affordable option, but we built the expense into our budget so we planned for it. Another great option would be to fly into and out of the same airport (Zagreb would be a great choice) and then save money on the rental car that way. Thanks for watching!
was it in the start or end pf september? I am going to iceland in end of september and trying to understand if its worth to take a 4x4 or F-roads will be already close
We visited at the beginning on September and all highland roads were still open. Many roads may stay open through late September and even into early October, but it's entirely dependent on the weather. If you're at all considering going into the highlands, even if you're not 100% sure, we highly recommend renting a 4x4 just in case. It is more expensive than a regular car, but if the weather works out, you'll be so happy you have it! Plus, many of the regular roads that lead to waterfalls (not even highland roads) are a mess and we were so happy to have a high clearance vehicle for them. You're going to have a blast in Iceland and thanks for watching!
It’s definitely a long video! You can check out our Balkans playlist to see how we spent individual days of our trip if you want something a bit shorter. It’s the same stuff, just broken into smaller videos.
Wow! What a great day! Also good tip regarding not trusting google maps because I’m the person who would have. The katsu looks like chicken breast?? Looks delicious.
I was in Bratislava on that time, stayed one day had a lot of fun. That’s for sharing this video reminded me how much fun we had there. Hello from Chicago 👍👍🙏
We visited the gorge in late June. We arrived at the entrance to the gorge at about 9am. It wasn’t too busy at that time and the weather was really nice. Thanks for watching!
