Thanks great information, removed carb and cleaned to try and solve hunting issue. No luck. Removed carb again and found auto choke pin gummed up. Removed pin, cleaned and gave it a drop of oil. Motor running fine again. Tip to know if it’s a sticking auto choke: motor will start and run normally for about minute or so until it warms up a bit. Then starts hunting as the auto choke does not deactivate due to the sticky pin. This is on a HONDA GCV160.
Thanks for posting this step by step process of cleaning out the carburetor. I used some Marvel Mystery Oil Spray kicking around that I used along with compressed air to clean everything up. I did use some welding tip cleaners to make sure all the holes were clear as well. Showing which way the tube goes in before the jet was VERY helpful along with the notes on the correct spring and linkage hole locations. The mower wouldn't start before, and now runs fine. I did also clean the float needle and seat.

Replaced the carburator on my boyfriend's son's ATV and it still only lasted a week. Bad invention there. But if anybody deserves one it'd be my student of month, with autism.
What size is the throttle cable on the Tao Tao I have the exact same bike but I can’t figure out where and what size throttle cable to get since my old one snapped please let me know brother
I’m considering doing what you just did to my kids ct100u. Did you notice any performance benefits with drilling the jet and deleting the governor? We’re just looking for a little more power and I’m not quite sure he’s ready for a 212 yet. Just wanna know if the mods you did are worth my time
STILL SURGING??? What he failed to show is on top of the carb is Philips head screw. Under that screw is the IDLE JET. it is a fixed jet, meaning it cannot be removed. That jet gets clogged & will cause no idle or surging idle. The bad news is is that the hole in the jet is so microscopic small that it virtually impossible to push a wire through it. Soaking the carb or using a Ultrasonic machine is the best bet. I just usually buy a reman carb (Chinese clone) from eBay or Amazon ($15) & that solves the problem. 99.9% of the time is that the idle jet is clogged!
I take my riding test tomorrow I can not get out of my head my instructors are pretty rude and when ever I felt like I was getting some confidence they would knock it down with smart remarks or just being kinda of an asshole about things! I passed the written test today! Praying I pass this road test!
Really depends on your instructor , some fail u for foot down on uturn even its its 1 time ,, others still pass if u put foot down multiple times on uturn and everything else
