Hi Dirk - I managed to deeplink from outside S/4HANA to a guided tour by adding the help-tour= paramater to the URL, but I can't fathom how to deeplink to a Help tile (not sure it's possible).
Hey, Andrew. No, I don't think it is possible to do it the way you want. The tour parameter is an actual parameter so that will work. The only way to launch a specific help tile is to use an API call, but that really uses a JavaScript call and I don't think you can code that into a URL parameter - likely it would be stripped out as potentially malicious. That said, you can force the opening of the Carousel and set a specific tile to display as an announcement, but then it would always do it, and not just when someone used the deeplink.
Hi Dirk, I went back to a course I just assigned. Rachel called me about her problem and I tried to help her, however when I went back to test my course assignment, I could not get the Learner View to update with status after taking this course. Same issue. We did 100's of these at Paramount the status of completion doesn't seem to work.
Hi Dirk, I have a Simulation as my Selected Object and a Simulation Demo for the Lesson Type. The user’s progress is not showing once they complete the demo. Would you know why this is happening?
This is SCORMed or via Learner View? Either way, try putting the Simulation inside a Book or Group, and have it launched from a link on a Book Page (possibly the only page in that Book).
How to record screens apart from English for example if I want to record screens in German then what do I need to record in German in this type only we can change only simulation but how to record screen in other language
Well, if you are creating a new simulation, just set the UI language for the application to German. If you are localizing an existing simulation and want to replace all the English screens with German ones, use the Rerecord functionality (which can run automatically if you're lucky). Personally I just capture new screenshots using SnagIt and replace them in the simulation - it's generally faster and less error-prone than using Rerecord.
For the Start Page, no. For the Intro Page, also no. For your own bubbles, sure - you can just add a hyperlink (which will always be the same as the file is an asset of the simulation project).
Hello Dirk, I created guided tour from successfactor, but it is not visible in guided tour playbacks or content visit in reports option in manager, can you please help me how can i track guided tour created in web assistant.
You need to have the trackingUrlSEN parameter set, and then make sure you are selecting the Workarea specified on that parameter selected when you run the report.
@@EnableNowExpert Thank you for replying Drik, but I am unable to find web assistant setting in that web page. Is there any another way I can change configuration or how can I find web assistant settings.
@@krishnasai5291 It needs to be specified in the Fiori Plugin configuration parameters. Contact your Fiori Admin person, and refer them to the SAP Companion Integration Guide if they need more help.
They already do, with SAP Companion and SAP Companion for Desktop... (and you can use SC4D with Fiori quite easily). My guess is we'll have Fiori and non-Fiori options that look and are maybe built) the same, but have different code underneath. I think SAP is very interested in how WalkMe 'reads' the application - and basically wants that code. Whether they can replicate that in SC or need to keep it separate is the big question.
Hello Mr. Dirk, First of all, thank you for the great videos and the amazing book, which I would recommend to anyone. It's the perfect combination with the videos! 👍 I've recently started working with SEN. Both the Producer and Instant Producer are fantastic, and I just need a bit more practice to improve the quality of my simulations and documentation. I have one more question: the integration of Companion into SAP ERP and whether it works well or not. Have you had any experience with this topic? Thank you, and have a great weekend!
It depends on what you mean by "SAP ERP". For S/4HANA it works extremely well, and I would definitely recommend it. For ECC6.0 you would have to use SAP Companion for Desktop, which works reasonably well, but is more effort to get right (and a lot more effort to set up). SAP Companion for Desktop can be configured to look and (mostly) feel just like SAP Companion (for Fiori) but to me it doesn't _quite_ work as well - although I do have clients who use it extensively, to good effect. Your last option (for ECC6), if you just want to provide access to simulations via the in-app help, is to use the Context Help File. That is very easy to set up, but you don't really get 'in-app help'; you just get access to training material via the help. Hope this helps. Reach out if you need more info.
@@EnableNowExpert Thank you very much for the answer. Yes, I meant SAP ECC 6.0. In our company, this SAP is also informally referred to as ERP. In any case, thank you. I will continue to try and will get back to you once I have results. I wish you a pleasant day.
Hi Dirk, is it possible to create a guided tour in a way that it can be opened anywhere in the process (i.e. with some sort of context recognition)? The idea is to create a smart guided tour that only shows relevant steps and omits certain parts
All Guided Tours have context recognition. And they should pick up with the first step applicable to the current screen/page. So from that perspective yes, it's possible. With SAP Companion you can choose to skip a step if the associated object is not found on the current scene, but you can't really have if...then logic (yet...). Usually it is cleaner to have separate GTs for each scenario.
Yeah, I don't know that I would trust much about recording / context in Manager. It's not really Fiori (although they try to make it look like it is in some places), so the usual rules don't necessarily apply.
Outside of SAP, the context help doesn't quite work for me yet. In Windows Explorer, for example, the context help is always based on the title of the window, i.e. the title of the currently open folder. However, I would like to display the help everywhere in Explorer, regardless of the folder. How can I achieve this? I have tried a few changes to the page attributes so far, but without success. I also have the same problem with Word files. Here too, help is only displayed if the Word document has exactly the same title as in the recording. Would be super grateful for any help.
@@EnableNowExpert Hi Dirk Sorry, I didn't receive the response notification. Perfect, just let me see how the page works and I'll send you the coffee. One more question, do you know if it is possible to add a checkbox's to a book page?
I've been having a root around SAP Q&A, and some other help articles, and I can't seem to find information on making SAP Companion content such as guided tours available to specific SAP roles. Am I missing something, or is this simply not possible?
Well, it should work by assigning a Business Role to the Guided Tour or Help Topics project, and then making sure that same role is passed to SAP Companion by the application (or specified by you in the URL - e.g. for testing). It's the role parameter. But my testing hasn't been that successful. I see the defined role in "Requested" but "Available" isn't being used...
The expert feature has been in it since 2021, so not sure if it ever will become standard as it almost three years in the product: There is a piece of functionality currently available that allows for the use of SVG images in Enable Now; it’s not yet officially released so there is no support for the functionality currently. To update to allow for the use of SVG images, please add SVGSupport=1; to the Expert Features section in the Workarea settings in Producer.
Yeah, but given that SAP's new .svg images worked fine without me having that Expert Feature enabled, I thought maybe they were getting ready to make it an official part of the product. Seriously, why does it have to be an 'Expert Feature'?
Interesting; I hadn't come across that Expert Feature before, but indeed, adding it will allow you to import .svg images as Media Objects. Hopefully SVG will be fully-supported natively at some stage without the need for using an Expert Feature, but this will work in the meantime. Thanks for the tip.
Great video. I configured the explanation's "Next" buttom to a custom button like "Continue". Will this be reverted back to next button after every SEN release? If yes, I will be released from an SEN project in few months. So I will not be there to revert it to "continue".
Sometimes yes, customized buttons get overridden by upgrades. If you can use a different name for the image file you may be OK, but I couldn't guarantee it. If you personally won't be around, and you can't leave instructions with the client on how to re-activate it after an upgrade, it would probably be better not to customize it.
Hello Dirk, Could please help me with recording profiles? I try to record fiori app on google chrome. JavaScript is enabled, extension is installed, zoom is 100%. However, when i choose region before starting, enable now informs me about 3 elements (warnings) - extension need to be installed - it is - browser need to be on 100% - it is - DPI is different - didn’t check this out yet Anyway I’m starting with „SAP UI5” profile and after just first click, profile is automatically changed to „Generic Web Application” I don’t know why, appreciate your time
Which extension is installed? There is SAP Companion, browser extension and also SAP Enable Now browser recorder. Install/enable both and see if it helps. DPI is worth checking. But at the end of the day they are just warnings and you can ignore them... / The profile is changing automatically because of the Authoring Setting > Recording - General > Profile Change = Always Change. Set it to Never Change and it won't switch. But the fact that it is trying to switch AWAY from SAP UI5 indicates it is not recognizing the application as Fiori. The extensions may fix that, else confirm scripting is enabled on the server side in S/4.
Nice video (as always). When I playback the recorded video from producer, its opening in Microsoft Clipchamp by default as it is in webm format. I know this is not related to SEN but do have any idea on opening it in media players like VLC?
Locate a .webm file in File Explorer, right-click on it and select Open With... then select the app you want to open it in, and select the "Always use this program" option. (Exact wording may vary depending on your version of Windows.)
Hello Dirk once again, What in your opinion is the best approach while recording few apps 1) chrome fiori 2) excel 3) file explorer for example I thought about browser content area but excel sometimes being trimmed so need to be placed in selected browser area, in addition on second plan we can see the background of the chrome Active windows looks pretty cool but it’s recording bars and tabs as well, region is just not appropriate for me. The purpose is to create PDF and Word docs so maybe should we use active window and then cut by bulk all chrome screenshot and the tasks bar? Whats your opinion? thank you
Hello, at 1:01 minute you showed that options might be changed for whole macro intializarions and so on. But as I see those options are greyed out from either my and yours side
Hello, once I have already created the simulation is there any option to duplicate the project but with NEW TEMPLATE? Client would like to update the template and deploy it into already existing simulation Could you please help?
Hi Dirk. Is it possible to generate Documentation (Word or pdf) from the Web browser or Manager? I haven’t found a way to generate outside of Producer and am hoping that you have. Thank you.
I use Audacity - mainly because it is free, and provides decent-enough filters for background noise etc. Then I import those MP3s into Audio Media Objects on the Book Page. I'm trying to get SAP to provide TtS for Audio objects, but it's not there yet.
@@lindarebeckamacdaniels5886 If you use the default Windows voices, then yes they do. Google Cloud Text-to-Speech integrates pretty well with SAP Enable Now, so that's a good choice.
And one more thing i noticed is that bubbles are misshaped after translation for obvious reasons. So do I need to check and reshape bubbles after translation?
Hi Dirk, Where do I need to exactly place the text unit inside the group? Is it at the top of simulations or bottom of simulations or anywhere in the group?
Hi Dirk, At 4:35, the green check is missing for me. What is the meaning of "Reviewed On" here? Is it just opening the simulation or playing it in library?
