Sooooo, was Arin involved at all with this? Because I see a lot of people blaming him for all that happened to them and it all sounds like a lot of behind the seens stuff that never made it to his ears? He refers to "they" a lot but he rants a lot for me to follow everything on a single watch.
I really hate hearing all of that, especially near the end him talking about how they were trying to convince him that suicide would be a “powerful tool” and being serious about that. What a fucking absolute degenerate and exploitive way to weasel in such a thought. Being so callous about telling someone that is pure evil. I really hope karma gets to a fuckton of those people who treated them this way.
The sad part is, I know people in the LGBTQIA+ love and respect them... I told someone, "hey you realize what they did, right? Him: oh you know them it's not a big deal. Its sad.
Game Grumps continues to be performative. Preaches about being against racism, homophobia, etc. but the moment they're criticized, they gladly throw the morals they go on about.
Not surprised considering all the dumb drama stories over the years about GG and SuperMega. When your whole schtick is that everything is a comedy bit including your personal life/relationships because that's your job now it's bound to get really fucking psychotic and worthless at some point. At least with Oneyplays there's a lot of just sarcasm and self awareness. Not fake enthusiasm for fans they would never interact with irl lol. Not to mention they all have other jobs they did or do outside of the silly let's play shit.
Matt at this point has had so many people say so many bad things about him that I do believe he is a pretty bad person. Self-centered, two-face, manipulative, and that’s just from like one dude. DingDong, TwoMad, And all the Lex stuff even if it isn’t as bad as it was reported, he has a track record now. “SuperMega is my Magnus Opus” probably was true. Who knows about Ryan, he seems like the quiet follower sometimes.
Chris/Oney had a pretty publicized disagreement with Arin/Egoraptor regarding something with SirPelo, I believe? Essentially, and don’t quote me on specifics because it’s been a minute and the details are foggy, SirPelo made a joke in an animation that was kind of just, lowbrow, little controversial but not overly damaging or scathing. Arin blew up about it and made some comments about how the Newgrounds community are all just like edgy or something, and Chris responded by calling Arin a hypocrite and shit, because Arin pretty much got his fame from Newgrounds and that community. As far as I know, they haven’t interacted since then. Edit: I’d google it, I’m sure you’d find it if you want an ACCURATE retelling of what happened, but thats from what I remember.
This should be obvious, but any respectable boss I've ever had always assured me that even though my work was needed, they would help facilitate my growth if I needed to move on to something that was better for me. Needless to say, it's hard to be in the opposite scenario, and I wish the boys all the best in life.
It honestly pains me to hear all the shit that happened to DD&J. Hearing Ding Dong's voice and how angry and sad he is downright depressing to hear. I hope everything works out for the both of them, truly.
Revisiting this after the Selen/Dokibird situation from the beginning of the year, and while it’s not all the exact same, there are definitely a lot of shared signs of danger in both of their situations with who they worked for
@@Looneyboy Selen Tatsuki was a vtuber employed by the company Nijisanji There was a lot of shit behind the scenes that led to an attempt on her own life irl, and that shit behind the scenes had her contract terminated Nijisanji has a lot of shady dealings behind the scenes and I wouldn’t be surprised if management talked in that weird way the anonymous people DD talked about did Hell, even fans of Selen said the “if she actually died it would ruin the company bullshit
First time I am hearing about this and it is honestly heartbreaking to hear but unfortunately not surprising at all considering how they treated JonTron.
I used to love Ding Dong and Julian for being funny men, but now I not only love them, but respect them for standing up for themselves and managing to endure all that.
I knew that Game Grumps were always trash and had been saying it for years but no one listened to me. Ding Dong describing human drones. Soulless corpos. I commiserate with him.
It was interesting to see Arin suddenly getting mainstream attention and minor voice work in cartoons right after he dropped Jontron and didn't defend him when the Cancel Club was trying to ruin his career.
Bro the bridge flinging the people up is so weird to me I’ve never seen that one before, it honestly looks more like a blooper segment than an actual scene
@@saret4647 Well it’s obviously not HIM who caused all the issues but he sure as hell didn’t help at all and if anything I’m just kinda more pissed at Matt than anything because I could always tell he was this actual douchebag by the way he talked that he was gonna do something awful one day
This is either a really cool way to show divergent points on the same sequence of events, or just some minor adjustments to dialogue and animation. Either way, it's rather neat.
This is the most concise way I can put it. DD and Julian had some harsh criticisms about Dream Daddy being insincere pandering. Certain individuals with influence within the company made their lives hell for essentially stepping out of line while others did nothing to intervene. It culminated with a suicide attempt, and some people DD thought he could trust told him that him being dead would make some people they hate look really bad. The two realized the entire organization was rotten to the core and just cut ties completely.
after the most recent SuperMega controversy, im getting the vibes it was definitely matt that said that shit to DingDong at the end about the note, lol..
Sir, please take this video down ASAP. DD and Julian demanded several times throughout the stream that they didn't want this to be kept up by anyone since it would result in people using it as ammunition for causing harm. Show some respect for their wishes; they just want to live their lives and make their games in peace.
@@opticfloyyyd The whole point of the stream was that it was a vent. It was never supposed to be shared around by people in this way. Leave them alone.
@@SkelNeldory Like I said before, the stream was done as a vent; exclusively for people tuning in at the time to the whole thing so that they understood how people using them as weapons in a petty controversy was hurting them and that spreading it around to the general public is pointless, doesn't help and only makes things worse for them. They specifically said to make sure to convince anyone doing these reuploads to take them down, and that's what I'm doing here. Quit name-calling, kid.
@@thesupernintendophile7404 So then you will know the information and others won't? How is that fair to others who haven't seen it? You think you're more deserving of the gossip?
I think its wild that this "drama" is just this weird Shadow that alot of people and also no one knows about. I guess GG and Supermega just managed to attract the exact perfect storm of an audience. The majority are reactive but performative so the hypocrisy of ignoring this kind of crticism or defending them is totally plausible. I do think Digdong is a bit extra at times, just like i believe that of Lex. But its interesting that the concept of Matt being more interested in a career than in human connection appears in both issues even though otherwise theyre quite different. People talking about "well more would complain if GG or Supermega were really that bad" dont seem to grasp that what DD and Lex described are subtle actions or lack of actions that cause the problems. These subtle things likely go over many people's heads, or they dont amount to much for most people to have an issue. People dont understand what the problem even is, much less the little tidbits that paved the path. I dont think anyone in Supermega or GG is EVIL, but they do seem to be a bit callous or fake in a way that would make people who are very genuine uncomfortable (not talking about Lex because shes sus, i mean like DD) but many hollywood clout chasers see as the norm. Thats why no one else has an issue, its just like four people that had the closeness and emotional intelligence to notice there even was an issue.
God. That ending part about the suicide attempt where Ding Ding started yelling. Despite the fact that back then I supported them and still do now, I can't help but feel like I was personally being yelled at. There is genuine hurt and emotion in those words and in a way, I'm glad he was able to get this out there. That these events genuinely had an effect on their lives. I've been there with trying to keep someone as a friend, or keeping my head down because I've been guilted into doing so. It sucks and you never know what it feels like until it happens.
goddammit I'm so f*cking glad i left the game grumps community like not all the time now i do watch older videos but that's just my ADHD but regardless and after learning what Arin and Lucy had done in the past can confidently say one day this will backfire in a meaning that will ruin his career i do not condone harassment as well please be respectful to those involved this is just my opinion at the end of the day
I cant watch them at all, not even the jon era. I mean, it's a de ad horse at this point, but Jon leavjng was the beginning of the end, cuz he was one of the few of the team that had an actual heart.
The tech world is full of these people, they have to play mind games because their skills is lacking and that's the only way they'll get ahead. Yeah u just need one per office to make the whole workplace feels like hell
I don't really understand, I need some context. What was actually stopping them from leaving with what DD was saying at the start? Were they under contract or like on the lease at the place they're saying or something? I don't know the whole story but from where the clip starts it sounds like the only thing stopping them was just other people telling them to stop?
They were under contract with game grumps doing their editing as well as collaborating with Chris for OneyPlays, the inability to leave seems to suggest Arin is a giant baby dick when it comes to deadlines and doesn't take humanity into consideration, so consider that they were not only doing long hours recording things with Chris, but then they immediately had to go edit whatever other BS game grumps was pumping out at the time and had to pay for an apartment in LA so if they needed to do other things besides edit or had other obligations Arin would threaten to cut them off because I'm sure Arin just thinks it's "all about business" Its actually why I've come to despise game grumps, they have become a serialized money grubbing faction of elitist snobs and I'd wager dollars to donuts their managerial practice of keeping their editors in financial shackles hasn't stopped just because DD and Julian left to form their own company
I literally hated Matt for no reason when he is in others videos. He just seems so fcking fake as a person and now I know i was right thanks to this video lol
As much as I like Ding Dong and Julien, it sounds like neither was ready for Los Angeles culture and corporate life. That is fine. No shade on either - it is hard, high pressure, and not for everybody. I am glad they have found a nice base of medium energy fan success on Twitch. The thing with Game Grumps is that they likely aren't all that bad to work for. If they were we would be hearing multiple stories like this coming out of the business. Former employees having a huge Twitlonger about it. Compare to Channel Awesome which, Doug seems nice, sure, but he had no idea how to run production and was ill prepared for running a company. No catering for shooting in the Mohave for their little movie, no understanding in how to run sexual harassment complaints, and so on. Thus almost every producer from the late 00s has horror stories about how bad everything was when working under the banner.
Just bc a thousand ppl arent running out of the company doesn't necessarily mean the company is "not that bad" or isn't shady at least. And it doesn't negate their OWN experiences with the company either. but sure please give them fake support while blindly praising their former employment
