How is the RPM working for you? Can you setup the shift light? Also is there a mode on your CA085 to use the analogue gauge for RPM? I saw something about it on acewell youtube but havent gotten it to work. Was the neutral light, temp and fuel level working instantly after hooking it up acc acewell schematics?

Amazing build! I was inspired by your build to build my own street tracker and am currently working on it. I really like those mirrors as well! Mind if I ask what brand they are, and where you purchased them? Same question about the handlebars as well. They really help complete the look!
@djewen
@djewen 2 года назад
Thanks for the kind words. The mirrors were just from eBay, it took a long time to find a set with long enough threaded stems to fit through the switch gear. Unfortunately one broke and the seller doesn’t distribute them anymore, I’ve have been unable to find ones with longer stems but a threaded bar could be welded on to a shorter set. The bars are LSL street bars.

This is a great build. I managed to get a tired K100 for £300 several years ago. It’s slowly getting transformed. I’ve had a look through your blog, but couldn’t see any info on how you managed to polish up the metal work so well on the exhaust down pipes. Mine are very dark and despite grinding with a wire brush haven’t come up amazing. Would you mind giving a rough overview on what process you used for this? Hope the bikes still going strong! Cheers
@djewen
@djewen 2 года назад
Thanks for the kind words Michael. I used a wire brush attachment on a 4” angle grinder, you end up getting turned into a hedgehog with this approach however. Unfortunately if you use the bike the pipes don’t last long like that hence I wrapped them, the best option would be to have them ceramic coated. I hope this helps, give me a shout if you need anything else.

Did you end placing the BEP unit in the relays box as shown in the video or did you place in some place else?
@djewen
@djewen 3 года назад
Hi Alfredo. I did yes, I split and re-covered the loom in two separated runs (for each plug) so I could run the connectors back from the original dash position at the front of the bike back to the electrical box. I had to move a relay inside to make space to accommodate the BEP but it was simple enough. Hope this helps.

I've read on the forum that the 1990- on BMW K bike fuel level gauge is designed to read 0-130 ohm resistance in reverse. Meaning that If its full, it will read 0-2 OHMs. the problem of the low fuel level indicator shows because the acewell speedometers reads the resistance Level in a progressive way , meaning 0 ohm is empty - 130 ohm is full. so when your tank is full acewell thinks that its empty because the Fuel level sensor is reading inversely. you can flip the board in the fuel level sensor so that it'll work correctly. here's the link on how to do it: www.k100-forum.com/t9265-messing-with-the-in-tank-fuel-sender
@djewen
@djewen 3 года назад
Hi Lawrence. Thanks for the input. This was over 2 years ago and was since repaired until the thermistors failed again. The problem is there are no replacement thermistors available on the planet, BMW made them specifically for the K100 and bow no longer produce them. That’s all detailed in my build blog on Motobrick.
