Hi Mick! Thanks for the kind words. The bags were actually made by an Upholsterer named French Touch Upholstery- she’s packed up shop but you may be able to track her down and have some made up, she kept a template of the ones I designed.
Amazing, it turned out very nice! I am transferring the ignition switch to the airbox on my K75 as well - any tips on where to let the cables exit the airbox?
Amazing build! I was inspired by your build to build my own street tracker and am currently working on it. I really like those mirrors as well! Mind if I ask what brand they are, and where you purchased them? Same question about the handlebars as well. They really help complete the look!
Thanks for the kind words. The mirrors were just from eBay, it took a long time to find a set with long enough threaded stems to fit through the switch gear. Unfortunately one broke and the seller doesn’t distribute them anymore, I’ve have been unable to find ones with longer stems but a threaded bar could be welded on to a shorter set. The bars are LSL street bars.
This is a great build. I managed to get a tired K100 for £300 several years ago. It’s slowly getting transformed. I’ve had a look through your blog, but couldn’t see any info on how you managed to polish up the metal work so well on the exhaust down pipes. Mine are very dark and despite grinding with a wire brush haven’t come up amazing. Would you mind giving a rough overview on what process you used for this? Hope the bikes still going strong! Cheers
Thanks for the kind words Michael. I used a wire brush attachment on a 4” angle grinder, you end up getting turned into a hedgehog with this approach however. Unfortunately if you use the bike the pipes don’t last long like that hence I wrapped them, the best option would be to have them ceramic coated. I hope this helps, give me a shout if you need anything else.
@@djewen Great, thanks, I appreciate that. ’ll give it another go with a new attachment and see how it goes. I might spray them black with VHT exhaust paint if they’re prone to dirtying back up 👍🏻
Great bike! I read that you have managed to add a fuel level sender. Can you perhaps share how to install this and where you can get it? I've read that a lot of people haven't managed to add this to a new odometer.
Thanks for the kind words. The transmission (gearbox) was painted as was the swing arm, final drive and engine, every other component was powder coated.
Christian Wünsch Thanks. It is street legal, yes. Has an optional removable baffle, with the baffle in the bike is about as loud as the original exhaust.
Not entirely other than the old type fuel level sender with the thermistors. Everything else was easy as I used the BEP 3.0 which is plug-and-play. Hope that helps.
Thanks foe the kind words. Originally they were just the standard K100 bars but, from the PipeBurn and BikeBound features it’s running the LSL Street Bars. Hope this helps.
The build cost was a £4100 (including both bikes I used to build this) I’ve never considered what my rate would have been. It took me 384 hours over 76 days. 😅
Thanks for the kind words. I created a custom one, is placed behind the radiator and in front of the airbox, You can see it in the video at 1.58 Wrapped bottle with hose connection.
@@djewen thank you! Building a scrambler as well and your build has given me a great look on what I’m going for. thanks for posting a video about your bike!
