I don't get why kids use social media, wouldn't you want to be different and not use that crap? We were lucky that we didn't have it growing up, I'm so grateful that garbage like Twitter didn't come out til well after college and I've stood my ground on never using the app, going on the website, or ever creating an account. The closest I've come is people cover 'tweets' on RU-vid channels I like, but screw that, I never would want to get involved in that shit. I have never had any friends that used it, and for good reason.
I always thought Kauffman was Alyssa’s dad. When I played this as a new game in 1999, I thought it was explicitly stated at one point, but I can’t recall where I got that from.
This game is so rad...It was the only game (at the time) that 1 person could play and others in the room could watch, and actually feel included/invested. And that God damn siren, every time I hear something even remotely close to it, I make sure a trusty Glock 19 or a SiG is at the ready!🤷♂️
This game is a love story, between Elle and Alex, a sort of similar to SH2, but in this situation Elle summoned him from the grave, and he is similar to Maria, Alex the soldier is a manifestation of the town, this explained the vomit of blood, and the drill on the leg, and after that he walked fine. This also explained the absence of Shepherd's mausoleum in the game, bc probably Alex was buried there, the other option is the Dargento graveyard, since SH always open locations related to the character. Maria never face the truth about herself, the same situation probably happened to Alex.
This Silent hill title would've made more sense by at least involving the same OG lore lying around in the form of dialogue and/or documents and files... other than that I guess this game got a bit more positive feedback in retrospect years later.
1st: you play part of Silent Hill 4 in first person. 2nd: The mother let the boy die in the closet and then put him in the fridge. 3rd: it's not that she was invited to shop and change her mind about the su1cide, it's that when you're on the edge of unaliving yourself, s simple invitation from a friend, from someone who cares, can save your life. 4th: yeah, The Silent Hill Phenomenon. Silent Hill needed that. The same way we are not in Raccoon City anymore... The series needed to reboot somehow. Lots of inaccuracies in your videos... I expected more from you. Time to unsubscribe.
I don't care about the haters: love this game. The monster design and boss battles were awesome and I loved the crunch noise when bashing them with a steel pipe🖤
So cool to see this review! I loved your old silent hill videos! I really liked Silent Hill: The Short Message. I was so excited when it dropped. I played the heck out of it. I think it was meant as a proof of concept for Silent Hill’s return. I feel like this game is held to standards that are largely unreasonable. But I get why some people don’t like it. It’s made for a new generation of horror fans. To survive the series needs to adapt. It’s probably why I’d died out in the first place. Did it do it perfectly? No. But it told a story that I could relate to. That made it scary. I personally disagree that someone who has been that low wouldn’t want to relate to her. I totally get why you wouldn’t but it’s a person to person thing. It’s way more personal than a statement saying “no one” so definitively. Yes, I never want to feel that again but a story that shows that feeling and someone overcoming that feeling is important to me.
Someone has maybe already posted this, but it has been confirmed that Rei has no connection to the Kurosawa family in Minakami village. What she does have is a relation to the Kurosawa family from Mount Hikami in Fatal Frame 5. She has been stated to be a relative of Hisoka Kurosawa, but it's unclear how closely they are related. That's why she could defeat and calm down Reika's spirit, because she had something akin to the Mitori ability which Kurosawa shrine maidens had on Mount Hikami
P:S Sidenote here buuuuuuut... If you ever get around to playing more of the Fatal Frame games I'd love to know your take on Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water! (if it's somehow ever possible! ^_^)
Planned to do that a year ago 😅 Life happened. At first I decided to walkthrough the 4th part (which is a story worth telling by itself) and planned to finish the video before the remaster. Then the remaster came out and I decided to finish it too and take a look at the official translation. Speaking about Maiden of the Black Water I only remember that any movement of girls was accompanied by bounces. And cannot say I'm against it in games like Nier Automata or Stellar Blade, but I was surprised to see something like this in Fatal Frame... considering that games have never had any emphasis on sexuality. Maybe I'll change my mind (haven't finished it yet) but these are the most vivid thought I remembered. (P.S. Miku got pregnant from her dead brother in a dream?!)
I personally didn't like it before when they started to lean on psychology heavier more than the occult (or complete removal of the occult) It makes it all feel much more flatter due to the symbolism becoming more simplistic and the mystery seems to somehow be less obscure this way since you can gues where everything is going quite early. Also teenager angle for me doesn't exactly work that well since everything in the span from teen to adult seems like the end of the world and its much harder to differentiate if it actually is serious. In Heathers case the cult activity is kind of a big fucking red flag that shits going down. Here indeed, it might of all been in her head.
This game feels soooo generic, relying only on the brand itself and is completely out of context compared to prior Silent Hill games. It's kinda sad. It's not even a game that hypes me up for the upcoming games, besides the remake of Part 2. Prior games payed so much attention to details and a certain tone of the game. It bothers the hell outta me, that it takes place in Germany for the reasons you mentioned in your video. Our protagonist here is a whiny attention seeker I can not identify with in any way - since I'm not measuring me popularity in Likes and Followers - so I'm not invested in the main character at all. But I guess thats what the current generation is up to... which is actually the sad part. But hearing Yamaoka-San back in the booth makes me beyond happy tho...
God dammit this game is boring. I couldn't play it for more than 5minutes, It's somehow even harder to listen to a recap. A free SH game could be the dumbest idea of this decade. "Hey fans, have you been starving for a quality game? Here - have a free one! We didn't even try, as you'll see when you watch the filmed cutscenes." Also - the cringe forced dialogue about suicide and social media is fucking unbearable. "Lost more followers... no exit... just like MY LIFE". Just lol.
So glad to see you back! I completely agree with everything you've said. The SH2 parallels you added were spot on, the game itself felt like a checklist of things the creators thought they had to go through to achieve a Silent Hill Game™ without understanding why these things worked in previous games in the first place. The end result of that is a story with no identity and a weak attempt at exploring mental health that completely flops. It's a shame too, because I thought the premise could've really worked if they actually bothered to explore the themes they were presenting.
I was deeply disappointed by this game. I wanted to like it so much but I geniunely couldnt find much of it redeeming. Writing was bad, story was convoluted, gameplay was boring, characters annoying and most egregious, the horrible treatment of such delicate themes. Monster design and score was good, that's about all I can say.
I don't think that's the case. Silent Hills P.T. had been praised even before it was revealed that game had any connection with Silent Hill and had big names in it. And we are talking about the game that had one corridor to explore. In this case, the story and gameplay are "meh" right from the beginning no matter whether you put "Silent Hill" name on it or not.
The story and characters are boring and annoying. It is like a 8th grader wrote a short story about "scary stuff". Nothing original, EXCEPT the monster, which we see very little of.
Glad to see you back man. Sadly this game bored me, sure I got scared a few times but I got scared by the movie The Nun so is not a high bar if you have a few scares XD
I'm confused why this was done under the SH name. And oh boy trauma. Like we haven't seen a game dealing with trauma before. I'm so glad I stop at SH3. Yeah 2 had trauma but at the time it was unique. And 4 may be stupid as hell but at least it doesn't overtly deal with trauma. Oh well glad I'll never touch this game. Good review as always. And glad to see you back.
Welcome back! Your documentaries a few years ago got me to explore more about the Silent Hill universe including the amazing and in-depth lore behind the various monsters and characters. I''ve since played SH1,2,3 and 4 and am looking forward to the upcoming SH2 remake. Appreciate the videos and keep it coming!
Heeyyy, couldn't agree more, this game felt at best like a really bad fan fiction, I was so pissed that she also never used her phone in any logical way, like calling for help, or sending messages and screaming ANSWER ME!, dude like, just freaking call!! I understand that this would not make any sense in the "setting" but the phone in itself is just so dumb IMO, hopefully the remakes/new games are better
The remake is going to be trash, the new games are going to be great because their going to be made by 7 expansion and he knows how to make a good story
It's great to see you're still making content about Silent Hill! I've always enjoyed and even come back to reference your videos when it comes to talking about the game franchise. Hopefully, the upcoming releases will give you much to discuss as well as revive the franchise as a whole.
