Welcome! My goal is to make the complex world of gymnastics judging accessible to all. Join me for deep dives into routines, myth-busting, and a behind-the-scenes look at the sport we all love!
This video is SUPERB. I love artistic and rhythm gymnastics but I never understand the deductions. Your editing has allowed me to see what judges and gymnastics athletes be talking about. Thank you so much. This video is crazy Great and helpful.
It’s amazing that anyone can watch a routine in real time and catch those deductions! It goes so fast for me that I generally can’t tell unless it’s something big like a fall
Can you explain the artistry deductions a little bit? I only saw them at the end of the video. Also, I know with each new code of points they are trying to really differentiate everyone but I think that the laymen would look at a 7.6 execution for that routine and be like wtf?? Execution is so harsh these days. :(
Awsome! It would be great to see your opinion on the floor final event 2024 olympic after all the mess regarding the bronze medal. I would love to see all the first 5 routines of the final scored by you. 🙏🏻 Your editing skills are just another level. You are making COP looking so easy to understand by everyone.
Leave this to ice skating. They look awful even when performed well. There are many other moves (many of them banned and no one knows why) that are equally difficult and far more artistic
What’s is her difficulty in this on the current code of points? I’d love to see what her score is and how she would do in comparison to the Olympic champion this year
Thx! So there IS a perfect TEN! They said there was no perfect 10 anymore. But apparently there is that possibility. I wish these media people would get things right and stop spreading inconsistencies and falsehoods. Again, thank you for this video.
Was there any particular incident (or individual person) which triggered the revamp of the scoring system by the International Gymnastics Federation in 2006?
Why is the angle measured when it’s measured? I mean what was the reason you stopped the video at that exact moment to measure the angle? What does the gymnast do for you to know “this is the angle”? To me it looked like she was spinning around at many different angles
question: has strictness and difficulty levels changed a lot over this new cop? people used to score things like 15s 16s and 17s, but now the average seems to be in the 14s to 15s. sorry, new to gymnastics and have no idea whats going on

Many elements have gotten downgraded over the years, especially on vault (I think we’ve lost about a point of difficulty per vault since 2012 or so), and elements on other apparatuses have also had lowered difficulty values as they get too popular.
Ridiculousness at its best!! Some of those moves cannot be done without having the legs separated, try them and see flexed foot really? The code of points now is looking for more dance than physical tumbling and difficult moves. I did not like the thin as a rail female doing those rocking motions and showing the rib cage not a good thing to see. You can use the entire body without doing that! NOBODY is perfect on any apparatus there will always be deductions but some of them are not justified!!
