I've watched dozens of takes on this issue and I can say you guys are very informative about it. I listened to the lawyer from yesterday's interview and I agreed with a lot of his takes. IMO, 23XI and Front Row are trying to make NASCAR better and if NASCAR takes their cars away, both teams should form a new stock car series that is run by the owners with a commissioner like how other sports operate.
I'm thinking that 2024 may not be Denny's year. I have to say up front that I think Denny took it upon himself to be a spokesperson for the other owners all year on this and I think he was horrible at it. With that said, I'm inclined to believe he is largely justified in the complaints he has introduced because there is almost always a massive imbalance in these disputes. I have to point out however something that I think is extremely disingenuous on his part and that's the complaint about the single-source parts. That was done purportedly to reduce costs and increase competition on track. I believe that is true in practice as well, though without knowing the numbers it is still speculation. The thing is, in the sport of racing, supplier competition likely will not drive costs down, but rather up because it will become an engineering arms race between a few firms to find small ways to gain advantages that will drive prices up because no team with the money will buy the slower part because it's a better value. That is the nature of racing. I'll also add that the only real leverage Denny has had is this attorney he has on this issue. NASCAR definitely doesn't want to go far down that path of litigation unless their books are squeaky clean and their operating costs are so high(and they are high compared to other sports, I imagine) that the revenue split isn't that unbalanced. I'm not saying I think that's the case, so I'm thinking NASCAR may be forced to make some major concessions on the charters if they indeed aren't keen to go through the legal process.
Disappointing take by McReynolds. Those historical teams are already “in the club” so to speak, they know they’ll be taken care of regardless… Everything is a who’s who and who do they know… no wonder no new teams come in. It’s a wonder that Marks and Hamlin successfully pitched to Jordan and Pitbull TBH. France family, undoubtedly, needs to be checked. These new teams are what brought me into the sport because of how fresh a breath of air they are… not just racing product but their whole package feels modern.
Either make the charter system permanent or pay out each team for their charters and go back to qualifying for each race! Let the fastest 40 car race each Sunday and penalize start and park teams.
I've watched several reports on this historic breakout news and I have to say, you gave a much more in depth report on the whole deal! That's why I watch all of your broadcasts! Thanks Taylor!! 😎
Great video. This whole situation is very complex and I’m glad you made it earlier to understand. Here are thoughts on the lawsuit. I hope both sides can reach a settlement without a trail and secondly i hope NASCAR shares more revenue with the teams.
It didn't have the intensity of the spring, but it was another good race from Kansas and I enjoyed it. The battle between Busch and Chastain was quality racing. Lots of interesting things happened during the race. We even got a three-wide battle to end stage 2, but it wasn't for the lead though still great to see. As far as the Busch spin, I see both sides of it. Briscoe raced hard to stay on the lead lap, but if Busch feels like he owes him something back, I can definitely understand it. Just to add context from the broadcast, even Jeff Burton thought Briscoe was giving Busch the lane which was the impression I got. Likely, that's what Busch thought too. And it looked like Briscoe might have slowly crept up a little bit. While he didn't make contact that we could see, he may have forced the 8 to react, just like when Denny ran Elliott high last year and when Larson did the same to Bubba. Plus, they pointed out that Busch had the pressure from Chastain from behind, so he had reason to push hard to get around the 14, even if being patient would have worked out better in hindsight. Even if Busch doesn't feel like he needs to even the score, he would be justified in racing Briscoe harder than usual. Still, they have to happy they've found some competitive speed regardless of the result. Great to see Zane Smith keep his momentum going. What a turnaround for him and I hope it leads to another Cup ride because he seems to have the potential to contend in Cup. And kudos to Corey Lajoie for getting off to a great start with 15th after the driver swap after his dismal summer. That was RWR's best Kansas finish and a few spots better than their finish in the spring race.
i agree with Blaney. if you have flat tires and need a toe, I say you should be done for the day. i will say if barely hitting the 6 broke his steering, idt he finishes the race at all. one hot to the armco would probably have broken the steering. i'm hoping DVP changes are listen in the new charter agreement.
Classic millennium answer! These last 2 generations are all about me, me, me. It is called common courtisity. Respect for your fellow driver. Or the golden rule, that doesn't get taught anymore. Do unto others as you will have others, do unto you. Don't be surprised if Kyle Bush returns the same courtisity back to Chase Brisco.🤔
That’s 100% fair. After the race, Kyle Busch after said he did wish for more respect from Briscoe but admitted he shouldn’t have gotten too antsy which ultimately was his undoing: “I guess I just got in too big of a hurry. We were leading when a car trying to stay on the lead lap came up and took away our air and I spun out. Back in the old days when there were under 30 laps remaining in a race, lapped traffic would lay over, give you a lane and let the leaders race. I just wasn’t getting that, so I tried to force my hand into getting that and get to his outside, and for whatever reason, it just gave all the air in all the wrong places and it took away our chances at a win. We ended up 19th. Not the finish we hoped for but we’ll head to Talladega Superspeedway next week to try again.”
Fun race! I enjoyed it as it was pure excitement from start to finish and like Alex said, it was refreshing to not have an Overtime Finish! As a Zane Smith fan, I’m pretty happy with that Top 10! I’m pumped for Talladega!
I really enjoyed the race. Not having an overtime finish was pretty nice. I listen to Chase Eliott Radio and his strategy throughout the race with impressive to get a top 10 after starting last.
I know you tried to match your lipstick with your blouse but you failed. Leave off the whites and try to match your beautiful hair. Browns neutral colors. Shade so your eyes look farther apart to match your cheeks. Use auburn instead of peach for your blush or just less of it. That or quit wearing make up all together. Love your channel and NASCAR reviews.
Who I think are going to be the Nascar Cup Series Winners and Eliminated Drivers in the Round of 12. 1) Kansas Joey Logano 2) Talladega Austin Cindric 3) Charlotte Roval Kyle Larson Eliminated Drivers Alex Bowman, Chase Briscoe, Chase Elliott, Daniel Suarez.
I like this train of thought! Bold pick for Elliott but not impossible. I would hold out hope on Bowman though. He has finished the last 4 races at Kansas inside the top-10. He has also never finished the ROVAL outside the top-10. As for Talladega, it can be ht or miss but he knows his way around drafting style tracks. I don't think he's out of this one yet.
Worst cup race of the season and it’s not hard lead bunch laps when there’s 500 Larson is fantastic at road courses your funny he drove into the barrels at the street race an was lucky finish 12th at the Glen
I couldn’t watch the race last night. I always appreciate the great recap. As a Chase Eliott fan I’m happy that he had a solid finish and will be moving onto the round of twelve.
Two straight races where Goodyear stated we'd see tires that wear and would see differences between old and fresh tires, yet we saw nowhere near what was promised. It's kind of crazy, if we're being honest here.
It’s still the Sharpie 500 in my book. But overall that race was tiresome to watch with how awful the Gen 7 races on Short Tracks which is sad because I had high hopes for this event and was looking forward to it but sometimes you get a stinker which I thankfully came prepared for so it’s not surprising to me either EDIT: I like most others was also expecting Part 2 of what happened in the Spring but I guess it wasn’t meant to be
Because Danny Denny, Hamlin and Michael Jordan are gonna try to buck the system because Denney doesn’t like the way the system is run now he don’t he doesn’t think that the drivers get a fair shake even though most of the top drivers make millions of dollars a year granted it isn’t that way through the entire field of cars, but they’re gonna try to be the rebels of NASCAR and I really hope it doesn’t backfire in his face, but I think it’s going to
One of the reasons that SVG and Chastain were able to stay out for so long was that they adjusted to the tires with their driving skills. And the setup of the cars. I think Goodyear can build a tire that will work. It just takes a couple minutes to get it right. It's incredibly difficult to build these tires to be safe and fall off at the same time.
I mentioned the "playoff curse" which is my term, and these last two races are what I was talking about. Once the playoffs start, it seems bad luck finds more contenders than you'd expect. I think if I was rating it, I'd probably come in a bit higher than you. I enjoyed it. Maybe it's because the finish was great and I was happy to see Buescher win it. I was surprised SVG wasn't able to drive away once he got in the lead. That's how Buescher was able to keep the pressure on and force SVG into a mistake or two. I am a fan of overtime and I think the current procedure is good. I was watching in the days before overtime and races ending under yellow was always a huge bummer. Is there a restart and aggression problem? Yeah, probably. But I think what we saw today is a product of the track configuration. After the restart, there's not enough time for separation before a sudden slow down going into turn one. It's a very similar situation to what we saw last year I believe in Austin. That was the race people were saying was a bad look for the sport due to the wrecking. Same deal here to a degree, the restart funnels everyone into turn one too close together. I don't think there's much else that can be done in this particular case.
Very good information on the race great presentation as far as the race NASCAR has got to figure out how to keep these drivers from taking each other out in the last two laps of a race
Really entertaining race. The finish was insane. I do hate that in overtime everyone just wrecks each other. The tire fall off wasn’t as strong as advertised.
Good race that was fun to watch but it’s getting frustrating to see Overtime every week and on top of that, the over aggression with less than 10 to go was frustrating to watch too as was that Lap 1 crash. I’m super excited for Bristol
