The Playoff Woes Keep Coming | Hamlin in Danger of Missing the Round of 12 (Watkins Glen Analysis) 

One of the reasons that SVG and Chastain were able to stay out for so long was that they adjusted to the tires with their driving skills. And the setup of the cars. I think Goodyear can build a tire that will work. It just takes a couple minutes to get it right. It's incredibly difficult to build these tires to be safe and fall off at the same time.

I mentioned the "playoff curse" which is my term, and these last two races are what I was talking about. Once the playoffs start, it seems bad luck finds more contenders than you'd expect. I think if I was rating it, I'd probably come in a bit higher than you. I enjoyed it. Maybe it's because the finish was great and I was happy to see Buescher win it. I was surprised SVG wasn't able to drive away once he got in the lead. That's how Buescher was able to keep the pressure on and force SVG into a mistake or two. I am a fan of overtime and I think the current procedure is good. I was watching in the days before overtime and races ending under yellow was always a huge bummer. Is there a restart and aggression problem? Yeah, probably. But I think what we saw today is a product of the track configuration. After the restart, there's not enough time for separation before a sudden slow down going into turn one. It's a very similar situation to what we saw last year I believe in Austin. That was the race people were saying was a bad look for the sport due to the wrecking. Same deal here to a degree, the restart funnels everyone into turn one too close together. I don't think there's much else that can be done in this particular case.

Really entertaining race. The finish was insane. I do hate that in overtime everyone just wrecks each other. The tire fall off wasn’t as strong as advertised.

It was really the most wild an crazy Watkins glan race ever,the final 3 laps of ot had me on the edge of my seat.

Good race that was fun to watch but it’s getting frustrating to see Overtime every week and on top of that, the over aggression with less than 10 to go was frustrating to watch too as was that Lap 1 crash. I’m super excited for Bristol

Very good information on the race great presentation as far as the race NASCAR has got to figure out how to keep these drivers from taking each other out in the last two laps of a race
