Oh Parma violets are my fave .....Just sent link to my boyfriend for the hahahaha Love your Vlogs they are very fun sorry your sister lost her dog xxxxx indeed ,Happy Etsy shop xxxxx
Hello Rebecca firstly thank you for taking the time to answer some of my questions. I can't thank you enough for sharing your blessed part of the world. I live in the US in New England CT. We have coast lines, benches with dedications, farms, cliffs oceans, all similar and so different. Your talent is beyond. I have Castle Arts Harmonious. I don't want to enable however these pencil colors are like no other. Just saying. 😘
I love that you outwalked the dog!😄 That was a lovely walk. Perfect day. I've done a fair few hefty walks in that area, including some of the tortuous coast path routes, in my time. But not for a very long time now. I've definitely been to St Bee's Head. Chinese food - ribs, prawn toasts and crispy seaweed are firm favourites. You earned that after the walk. I remember several years back now you went to London for a weekend and when you got back you remarked about how out of breath you were and how unfit. Well, you aren't unfit now. You have really turned things around. Huge life changing event. Awesome. Thanks for being persistent with Derwent and getting a proper answer in the end. We need to know this stuff. Have found a limit to the layers of them in Rita Berman's book. The paper was fine but in the end I could not get another layer to stick. I don't know how many there were down, several, I was building up a ginger tabby cat and couldn't get the dark shadow on around the base of his bum! I can't layer Coloursoft much beyond 3-4 layers either. But Procolour layer forever. I love all the pretty things. Those paint pallets were so pretty. Good call to get those. I have 3 Karolina books. The artwork is crazy and good. But some of the portraits make me feel so sad! Have a great week using your new goodies.
That Chinese food was delish, Sue. Although it did take me 2 days to eat it, lol, which is a good thing! It's an amazing feeling to be able to get around so easily after being to big and so unfit for so long. I can't quite believe it and often forget that I can do things as I was so used to not being able to do so many things. It's gonna take years of reconditioning my brain to think like a normal person. It's nice to hear that you know this area too. I remember a couple of years back when I went to Harrington Bay in one of my videos and you said you'd been there too. Oh so you found the Chromaflow don't layer too well either, that's good to know. I find sometimes it's best to put the shading colour down first with pencils. If I know I want a really dark area, I'll whack it down first coz it's not always easy to do that when layering over other colours. You've made me want to try the Procolours again. I'm gonna get them out! Yep, Karolina's pics are a bit sad and eery. I do love that though.
To me the Chromaflows are similar to Prismacolors in softness, but I am not sure about lightfastness. I am pretty sure the Castle Arts are not very lightfast, but I really liked the feel of them, too.
I talked to a Decent representative about the 150 having replacement pencils and her response was That they were going to have replacements for up to 75 pencils so that wasn't really the response I was asking about the whole 150 set!
That's a bit odd that you can only get replacements for 75 of them! Frustrating too, if we have favourites that we can't replace. That's another similarity with the pencils from the cheaper sets, that you can't get open stock on them. Would have been nice if she had explained why that is.
Thank you, it's just beautiful. It was part of the Coast to Coast walk, along the coast on the north west of England. We walked from Whitehaven to St Bee's.
I love your videos so much, I look forward to them every week!!! Those empty watercolor tin/palletts are gorgeous - it's a nice surprise they are affordable too. I'll be adding my 150 Derwent Chromaflow set to a blank chart at the back of the Ruby Charms Color Charts book, but it is going to bother me so much that they aren't in the Derwent section.
Can't stop laughing at your last sentence 😂🤣 I didn't realise there were blank charts at the back of the book (or perhaps I just forgot, lol) Thanks for that info, that's what I'll do too 😃👍
Hi Rebecca hope your well .. great vlog again .. what a beautiful walk you went on. The new 150 set of chromoflows look amazing hopefully I can get them at some point but not yet as I’ve just purchased the harmonious set they are even more beautiful in the flesh like you I had problems with castle arts as when my pencils arrived there was a couple of pencils missing so I messaged them telling them .. they got back to me saying we are sorry but we don’t do them as singles which I already knew… so I replied back saying could you send me a replacement as i wanted the full set .. they then replied sorry but we can’t send a replacement out but if I sent photos of the missing pencils they would give me 10% off .. I replied back saying that’s not what I wanted and it wasn’t the point .. I ordered a full set ,paid for a full set so I’m wanting a full set .. to which they replied well as a good will gesture we will give you 15% off .. by this time I was getting peed off so I replied back saying .. no im not happy with this your advertising a full set and that is what I ordered .. please could you send me a refund and I will send them back as I’m really not satisfied in your method of solving this issue .. then the next day a different person replied to my email saying they had took over this complaint and that they totally understood what I was saying .. he then went on to say as a good will gesture and for the inconvenience we will send you a new set out straight away as compensation please keep the incomplete set as spares .. I replied thank you so so much for this but I can send the ones back if you want me too .. he was really nice .. ppl just don’t get that if your ordering a full set of something then that’s what it needs to be not half missing ( slight exaggeration) 2 pencils in my case .. but still none the less it was incomplete…. Loving your vlogs Rebecca my favourite day of the week to chill out and watch your uploads thank you so much for sharing your amazing vlogs .. 💕🥰💕
Like where is the logic in that? They want you to send a photo of 2 missing items, lol. That's just complete stupidity. Ok, jokes aside, I know they probably meant for you to take a photo of the box with 2 empty slots but how does that prove anything? A dishonest person would just remove 2 pencils then take the photo. And it's extremely unlikely even dishonest people are going to try and rob a company of 2 coloured pencils, lol. Some of these companies have no common sense, it's just hilarious. Glad they finally got it sorted for you though. I had a similar situation with those Color Cubes by Sarah Rene Clarke. A few of them were misprinted so they had the wrong palettes printed on the reverse. They asked me to send photos. But how the hell do I take a photo of the back and front at the same time, to prove that it's the wrong thing printed on the back? Makes no sense! They obivoulsy think I might be being dishonest which is why they want me to prove it, but it would be impossible to prove that with a photo as I could easily take pictures of 2 different cards and they would never know. So I told them this and sent them a video of me flipping the misprinted cards over. And why would I want to try and scam a few color cards off them anyhow when I have the full set? They clearly never thought that one through. 🤣 Thanks so much for watching, Emma 😊
@@TheArtSpirits hi Rebecca.. that was my thoughts too .. just don’t get some ppl I really don’t … but at least someone eventually sorted it out for me which I was pleased about .. I love that you are doing these vlogs .. your my favourite Chanel I just love all your content it’s so relaxing and helps me so much .. did they sort your cubes out for you in the end .. I have the cubes too and I find they really help me especially when I get a mind block on where to go in colouring a page .. I do think some ppl think we are all dishonest but we aren’t.. .. big thank you ☺️🥰
Hi Rebecca. On Bromleys website it says Derwent cannot guarantee all of the components are vegan. Suggests that they don't manufacture all of the components? But that doesn't necessarily mean the core is Chinese
Hmm, interesting. If they are manufacturing them then they should know what's in them. Not sure if you saw in the video but they did get back to me to confirm that they definitely do manufacture the core in their own factory.
I use a dehydrator to dry my paints now but I must be doing something wrong. I do them in layers but I have noticed with my pearl paints they cool down and go sticky. I have tried using less binder or changing my recipe for the binder. I am in the NE too so I can only guess it's our wet climate. Also I ordered the small set of Chromaflows to give them a go after your vlog last week. I couldn't stop laughing because you are the same a s me. I want to try the big sets with all the colours but I have been sensible and ordered the small one. I really look forward to your vlogs. Thank you. <3
If you're using honey in your paints? If so, you could possibly be using too much. Also, where you make them, is it damp? I have a dehumidifier in my hut where I make them and keep the moisture level to 55% or less. Stickiness does sound like a honey issue though.
I didn't care much for the Chromaflow pencils, I ended up giving my small tin of them away, they break too much and the cores aren't centered, I do have the Lightfast pencils and they are beautiful.
Rebecca that was amazing fun to watch so thank you very much. You colour like a watercolourist, and I mean that in a very complimentary way. I was fascinated by your process. Great video. Much love from cold Perth, Western Australia ❤❤❤
I was just thinking about that book you got where you draw over the lines. A dip pen and coloured inks might look really pretty in that. I might get a copy and give it a go because I have a lovely box of coloured inks (present) that I haven't found a way to use.
Yep, I was thinking the same, Sue. Will definitely be giving that a go. I'm ashamed to say I also have some ink that I don't use so maybe this could be how we get them used. Hope you get one of these books, they're soooo theraputic 🎨
Just finished the video this morning. Lovely as ever, to spend time with you going about your days. That hut is very inviting and relaxing feeling. It needs bunting and your tea served in a china cup and saucer! I'm very close to buying the Chromaflow. It's a couple of years now since I last bought a set of pencils. That's good, I'm using my supply. But I like Derwent pencils a lot (not the Coloursoft) and would like them in my collection. Plus 150😍🤩😍 Have a great week up there. Hopefully it's a bit warmer for you now. It's humid as heck here. But nature watered the garden for me early this morning. Saves me a job.
Yes, it's getting a bit warmer up here but still a really cold wind that we seemed to have had all summer. I feel for you with the humidity, that's no fun. Hope you get the Chromaflows, I really like them, lots of really dark colours, which I love for getting that deep shading. I've heard a few people complain about breakage, so hoping mine will be ok. I never had a breakage problem with the Prismas so I was lucky 😊. Love my hut 😃 Hope you can get one soon too 🛖
@@TheArtSpirits My shed will sadly be a shed for storing all the garden tools, decorating stuff, things like that and then a workshop end. It won't be pretty like yours. My shed hobbies tend to cover everything in sawdust or simple dust. Everything gets covered in paint and stain too. But I have really missed having the space to do those things. It's a strange summer. The slugs are huge and my nasturtiums have such big leaves that we can't see the flowers! Everything is lovely and green, but it's been a hard summer for gardening. Pests are abundant. I've been colouring a page today with the 48 set of Chromaflow that I bought on Friday. I want to see what they are like and they were a good price. I will need a full set to be a Christmas gift I think. They are nice. I'm enjoying the process.
😆"Is anybody else like that?" ME! I really struggle to mix pens and pencils at all, let alone take them out of a neat little plastic box or a tin and put them in a roll or case. I can move a whole set of pencils over to a case. But I see people with 20 sets of pencils all mixed up by colour family stuck in mugs or boxes and I'm horrified! 😅
@@TheArtSpirits I understand. But I have not bought a lot of sets, many I've built up over time open stock so I don't have that problem. I did make myself put my Pablos in a case and got rid of the tin. Still regret that. But my desk is too small too have trays of pencils laid out on it. I have kept the Supracolors in the tin and I have Lyras in their tin, some of the smaller sets too. But I would prefer more storage shelves and a bigger desk. Then they would all have been kept.
Hi Rebecca. I recently bought a set of your fragments paints and just wanted to let you know they're lovely. Could you just tell me which colouring book with toadstools you used for the Chromaflow pencils please?
No problem, Lesley. It's called Magic Hour by Karolina Kubikowska. Thanks so much for purcahsing my paints, I really appreciate it. So glad to hear you like them 😊🎨
Rebecca when I bake cakes after pouring the batter in my pans & before placing them in the oven I tap the pans on my counter a few times to bring any bubbles to the service. I wonder if you do that after filling your second layer of paint in your pans if that would force bubbles to the service. Just a thought. 🤔Thank you for sharing your surrounding with us. I'm in the US. Far different then you.
I have tried that, Cheryl. I get the air bubbles to the top and pop them but even more emerge. If I make the paint into a thicker consistency, I can avoid the air bubble problem but then they still look ugly as they have a rough finish on the top. I thought about possibly getting one of those vibrating plates that chocolate makers use but then I realised they cost thousands. There must be some way of doing it as other paint makers have perfect looking paints. One day I'll get there, lol.
Hi Rebecca hope your well .. great vlog again as always. Sorry to hear about your sisters dog ted .. so sad losing our fur babies 🐶.. sending big hugs to your sister. Love your plant pot it’s amazing not seen any like that before. How beautiful are your leaves 🍂 you was colouring they look amazing. And the big full set of chromoflows wow I’m so jealous I have a 24 set and I love them .. hopeful I will eventually get the full set for my birthday or Christmas .. thank you as always Rebecca I absolutely love your uploads my favourite part of my Sundays is watching your vlog 🥰💕
@@TheArtSpirits your so welcome Rebecca .. yes new pencil are so hard to resist, I’m drawn to them.. it’s like we can never have enough .. Will you be doing an upload of your page that your colouring on your colouring channel the leaves 🍃 look amazing 🥰
Regarding the poacher report it to the police. It will help if you got his number plate. Remember you have to put your safety first in a situation like this.
I just saw that the Chromaflow have now jumped up to £200 on Amazon as well. So the same price on Amazon but only £160 on Cass Art. In just a few days, the prices have fluctuated everywhere. Art Discount were selling them for £148 a few days back and now they're £159.
Good morning Rebecca. Lovely vlog and walk about today. Thanks for that inspiration of organizing and having the gel pens, micro pens, etc in one spot. Geez. What a duh moment I had. I have them scattered in several fun cups on my desk. Cute but not very useful. Will be getting a pencil case for them. 😊
Thanks so much, Katie, she'll be pleased to hear that. He was such a little cutie. Her and her husband are devastated 😢. Mia's been a bit quiet. It's hard to know what they're thinking 🐶
@@TheArtSpirits awww I bet mia misses him 😢 he was really cute, loved how they would just chill and not want to go home lol so sweet, I lost a few pets this year, its heartbreaking. But another lovely vlog, thankyou, the man who was shooting the birds needs a bit of karma himself, I don't how he sleeps at night , what if them birds were getting g food for there babies or anything, it gets me fo mad. I really love your art hut, I need one 😍 xxx
@@katiejones688 Yep, it's really upsetting to think that those birds might have little families. So glad you liked the vlog, Katie, and I really appreciate your lovely comments. Hope you can get an art hut too, lol. 😊
@@TheArtSpirits They miss their family. A cat is terrible. They ask for all the doors to be opened so they can look in cupboards and other rooms. Your heart is already broken and then it breaks again for them. I'm so sorry she lost him. They are our family.
Aw, I love that ceramic head container! Can you please share with us where you found it? It's awesome. And so are your weekly vlogs. Don't. Ever. Stop. ❤💜💚💙
Thanks so much. No probs, here's a link to the sitewww.summerleaf.co.uk/products/ceramic-grey-norman-planters?_pos=17&_sid=178b878f8&_ss=r&variant=36706509488296
@@TheArtSpirits I tried to order, but they don’t ship to the U.S. I’m gutted. I think Norman is about the cutest thing I could put on my desk! P.S. I am so sorry about Ted. When I initially asked about the planter, I hadn’t gotten that far in the video. ❤️
Great vlog as always Rebecca. Just wondered do you still colour with coloured pencils in colouring books or are you mainly just painting with watercolour? Hope you are having a wonderful week x
Hi K, I rarely colour much nowadays but this last week, I've been feeling the bug again so I got the Polychromos out and I've been doing a page in Circle of Life (that book was enabled by yourself, lol) and last night started on one of the Karolina Kubicowska books, also with the Polychromos. Hope you have a fab week too. 🎨😊
Was a hoverfly on the jar - harmless but good to have in the garden. Love watching your videos - really interesting to watch you make the paints and all the work involved. Will be ordering some when can afford to next month!
Great vlog Bec 👍🏻 the Rust shenanigans was interesting…I’m. Glad it got dismissed because it was clearly an accident and apparently the dummy rounds looked almost the same as the live bullets, so even if he looked at them in the chamber, perhaps he couldn’t tell…
Hiya! Another great vlog ❤ which of the books was your favourite? I hadn't been tempted before but also just watched a few videos on them. I can't get all three, I'm on a low buy year as my shelves are full and I've not long taken 50 odd colouring books down the charity shop. But these look like a great way to use up the crazy amount of fine liner pens I've hoarded, so I'd like your thoughts on which one kept you most interested and lost in your own world. I was engrossed in the trial too and really shocked at that outcome. Have a fab week 🤗
Hi Marie, I love the Trace and Explore one. I think that was the cheaper one as well. I think I will enjoy the Reverse Colouring book but haven't really had a good go with it yet. The Ink Tracing one isn't really for me. I don't find it as satisfying and I think it's because I keep getting bits of the white lines left over and it's ruining the satisfaction level. Also, the paper isn't as smooth as I'd like it to be so the pen doesn't glide like it does in the Trace and Explore. Probs got a bit too scientific there, lol, but I hope it makes sense.
Okay! Was only going to buy one but they are both different styles... I've gone for the Reverse Colouring book and instead of Trace and Explore I've gone with one of the others in that series Trace and Escape! I couldn't resist it! Thanks for a great find x
