I will be very sorry to see this place close, I will certainly miss it. Many thanks for your filming of the Biker Cafe (Food Stop Cafe) , I would like to make a suggestion, it would be wonderful if you could film the inside with it's various features; seating, view from the front window, pictures that hang inside, notice board and even the rack of Magazines...because once it's gone....it gone and it would be great to look back on it with fond memories and a lot of us, I am sure will.

I think the smaller capacity bikes will become more popular as the biker demographic gets older and prices continue to rise, especiall with the big ADV bikes now over 20k There's also the Quatt farm shop and cafe at 12:12 in your vid Dave though as it's at the end of a long straight on a NSL going into a 40 it could end up being another accident black spot on that road. I've tried loads of ear plugs over the years from the tube foam type, shaped foam ones, some silicone custom fitted ones through to the mushroom type. The silicone ones were good for keeping the sound out but put pressure on the fleshy bits of my ears as they then pressed against the speakers I have in my helmet for my intercom so if you go down that route make sure they're comfortable with your helmet on before you buy. The foam ones tend to come out as I ride as do the mushroom ones I've tried previously (maybe due to the shape of my ears) but currently I'm using Alpine Motosafe which are the silicone mushroom type but they have a handy little insertion tool you slip over the "stem" of the mushroom which really help get them in the correct position. Oh and I remember school custard, but not in a good way 🤣

I have moderate tinnitus. I find it's the wind noise riding a bike that is the worst problem, not the engine. I wear a Schuberth helmet, which cuts out some of the noise, but I also wear earplugs. Having tried out one or two types, including the custom fitted, I find that the humble cotton wool ball works as well as anything. Take a single 1" cotton wool ball (you can buy a bag of them from Boots or similar), tear it in half and push one half gently into each ear. They are comfortable and very effective, and cheap. When they get a bit mucky just dispose and use a new ball.

Fellow tinnitus sufferer here. I always ride with earplugs. I find that if I don't, my tinnitus feels worse afterwards. I use the Howard Leight Laser Lites. Not sure about the effect on bigger bikes but I love my little CB500X. I'm not interested in a bigger adventure bike, even though I like bigger-engined bikes like my Z1000. I remember Angel Delight. Absolutely hated it but definitely a thing I remember.

Having a 400cc bike all the costs are basically half road tax is £117 for anything over 600cc. And will go up again next year. Mid bikes are now around £10k. I think a 400 just looks more like what a bike should cost.

Think the new Triumph 400s are the biggest selling small capacity bikes. It's not surprising with the traffic levels, speed restrictions and cameras here in the UK. I worked in an EMS call center. Early headsets had no noise canceling tech. Without exaggeration I took thousands of high volume calls for service. At the same time I did target shooting as well as rode my motorcycles. Tinnitus has been an issue for decades. Hi David. Good thought provoking vid as usual. I have had tinnitus for over 20 years and my doctor once said that it was probably from all the loud equipment i use to operate in my career of 30 years as a Fireman. It was a long time before health and safety got involved. Anyway i will not ride 1 inch without earplugs and as usual in life is you get what you pay for. Since they first come out i have religiously used the The Alpine ones that most of the GP & Superbike racers use. They are colour coded and i swear by the red ones and you get a tool to insert them. They have never affected my tinnitus one way or the other. I always get childhood memories for all the wrong reasons and mine is sprouts. All because my vile mother threw me all round the kitchen when i refused to eat them LOL A quick cure for this memory is get the Tiger out and ride til my mind is empty. For all the great subjects you keep coming up with and the great entertainment i have left something towards a set of Alpine's lol

It depends on your definition of a large adventure bike. There seems to be a raft of new 800 - 900cc bikes from the chinese brands like Voge CFMoto as well as updated bikes from BMW, Triumph, Honda etc.I don't see BMW , Triumph, KTM dropping the big adventure bikes anytime soon. I personally have no need for a large heavy bike infact I'm closely looking at the CFMoto 450MT, RE Himalayan 450 etc for my next potential purchase. I have worn earplugs for nearly 30 years now and wouldn't ride without them. My adventure helmet (Bell mx9) is very noisy especially compared to my Schuberth C3 pro.

I use Boots BioEars Silicone earplugs; £5. For that you get 3 pairs of re-usable earplugs which mold to your ear when inserted creating an effective seal. They are very effective at cutting down general motorcycle engine and wind noise while still allowing the use of a Cardo in-helmet speaker system. Additionally I don’t feel over isolated from my general surroundings while wearing them. I’ve also tried various cheap foam plugs but they are nowhere near as effective in my experience. Hope this helps.

Here's a thing with the 400 cc or there abouts range of bixe. You could buy for instance a CF MOTO 450 MT for £5699 and a Triumph Speed 400 for £5195 as advertised at two dealers in Maidstone Kent area. that's less than the cost of one large capacity adventure bike or a road bike. You have the best of both worlds but on a smaller scale. Again the reality is the bigger the bike the better but where and how often can you use the power of a large road bike? Or how often will you embark on an adventure requiring the bigger bike of that ilk?

With respect to video length and/or format I would advise a couple of things to consider. Nothing annoys me more when I click on a video with a particular subject matter I might be interested in and the RU-vidr just rambles on aimlessly about whatever seems to come into their head. I would say think about one or two connected topics and stick to them. That would also limit the length of the video and have the other advantage that instead of a 20-30 minute ramble you would get two videos to increase your YT output.

The introduction of the 400cc bikes has proved a winner for Triumph, and more derivatives will open up more opportunities. I tested a 400cc scrambler recently and was very impressed only the lack of getting hold of one put me off. I'm fully aware that I'm getting older and don't want the bulk and weight of a big bike plus as someone has commented there are speed cameras everywhere and poor road surfaces that limit how much power you can use on the road. It's a shame that Triumph doesn't make their more premium bikes in this country as I believe that BMW, Ducati, and Moto Guzzi do manufacture some bikes in their home country.

I test rode a Triumph Speed 400 earlier this year and was really impressed so put a deposit down on one. I was told the waiting list would be a couple of months and after a couple of days reflection I decided that what I really wanted was a full-blown Bonneville so ended up buying a used T100. Fantastic bike and don't regret my decision at all but still think the Speed 400 would have been a great buuy also. Completely agree with the way the market is going for smaller capacity bikes, especially in the UK. Speed cameras and lower limits spreading everwhere make a superbike less justifiable now. Love your Honda too as well as what Royal Enfield are doing. Completely agree that Triumph seem to be hitting all sectors of the market really well atvthe moment too and could see myself getting a Tiger Sport 660 at some time in the future.

@jonathandeeley6276 День назад
The emerging UK markets are for smaller capacity motorcycles. People are realising that large capacity bikes aren't necessary for everyday use, to have fun on and that have touring capability thrown into the mix. The 400 - 500cc bikes are ideal for this purpose, particularly in adventure and roadster style formats. The Triumph 400 is a nice looking machine and I understand is a hoot to ride but sadly at the moment that's where the story finishes. Despite being the best selling UK bike for 2024 it seems the bike is beset with a long list of quality issues that remain unresolved and is tarnishing its reputation. Owners are complaining of engines cutting out, EMLs that are staying on, oil leaks, head gasket failure etc. It seems the bike was rushed out into production without much thought given to the after sales support. Difficulties include not being able to get replacement parts, particularly warranty items such as gasket kits, owners unable to buy Triumph bolt on accessories because they aren't available yet. There is a lot of competition out there at the moment particularly now Royal Enfield have introduced their new 450 Guerilla to the market, I understand that Honda are introducing a 400 Twin to the market (don't know if that will be for the UK market yet but no doubt they'll quite rightly want a slice of the cake) and I'm sure plenty of other manufacturers are working on similar projects. If it was me I'd stick with your CL at the moment and see what emerges over the next 12 months/2 years.🙂👍
