And this is recorded with Jojo not quite as "out front" as most of the other videos I've seen of his performances - he's just a tad more blended in (sounds that way to me, anyway) - his style and playing makes him stand out anyway because anyone watching the video is no doubt going to be concentrating more on him than anybody else- he's the main star, after all. His name is in the title of the video, and most people are viewing by searching his name.
Amazing... these artists have continued the sacred tradition of the genius...Mr. Ray Charles. I was blessed by hearing Ray in 1964 in Chicago and in 1984 in Montana. It was musical and spiritual touching what was left of my soul after life in Amerika.
Played a little bit too hard. More swing, a pinch more groove. Maybe it was the hard sound of the drums. What role did the sound engineer play? Greetings from Austria, not Australia!
The drums, especially toms, are pretty dry and too much in front... they should be more embedded into the ambience sound (more overheads, or less closer miking). It gets a bit better when the band plays louder.
@@fibboobbif I think this happened, because he was the star. I does not like drum sets, which sounds like machine guns. At least it should fit to the style of the music, or better said, it is part of creating a style. Funk rock sound in a swing big band is not a very good way. Maybe this also could be wrong, what I said now. Art is an open way.
By the way, this song was originally recorded live at "The Club", Chicago, by the "Cannonball Adderley Quintet" in Feb. 1967, and was composed by austrian-american Josef "Joe" Zawinul.
