Common threads in either urban or contemporary storytelling and folklore, or in the lore of our ancestors, evoke peoplehood. They provide the ties that unite us as a people who have lived, loved, laughed and grieved together. In other words, folk songs, ballads and stories capture moments in time which arouse clicks of recognition--that which brings to mind significant emotional events. Linda's collection of essays and songs are like messages in a bottle, cast into the universe in hopes of triggering those clicks of recognition that bring both delight and tranquility to her listeners and readers, along with a chuckle or two.
LOL!!!! If I had noticed uninvited guests on my plate, that plate would have been thrown through the air faster than Clark Kent could change into Superman. And, I would have been screaming the whole time. haha!
