I wonder if the growth of 8% honey culture was sluggish because nutritious was too much? In any case, liquid culture is a great way to obtain mycelium and its active ingredients.
@BigMush9000
@BigMush9000 День назад
@cats.mushroom an interesting theory, but I'm doubtful given I had such a good response in super nutritious corn syrup. One would expect extra nutrition would lead to massive growth either mycelial or contam, given I had almost zero growth I suspect it's a case of net energy loss as a result of caramelisation.The mycelium uses more energy consuming the complex sugars than it receives from those sugars.
@cats.mushroom
@cats.mushroom День назад
@@BigMush9000 Your consideration is logical and makes sense. Another possibility is corn syrup had a rich source of nitrogen, but honey had less.

I see your pressure cooker is a generic chinese 7 psi one, mine is very similar and I used a lead weigh to raise the pressure to 15psi. How is yours going? My pc has a curved bottom now. These pressure cookers are made with the lowest amount of aluminum possible but still work to reach 15psi. I wonder if the pc will fail at some point but cant afford an all american for this time.
@BigMush9000
@BigMush9000 10 дней назад
Yeah, it is. I've had no trouble with mine so far. Have done about 50 or so runs with it. Seems to be holding up well. The rubber gasket works as well as it ever has. I have some coins and blue tack on the weight to get it up to 15psi. If the bottom of your pressure cooker is changing shape, I'd be careful man. How full is your pc each time you run it? If you're not smashing out kilos of grain, perhaps you could get away with a smaller, but higher quality pc
