BTW way this interviewer is intentionally pushing Sapolsky to vilify Putin. Hallmark of a woke media person who just loves virtue signaling. Mainstream media person has arrived in RU-vid. Listen but don't trust this guy and his one sided RU-vid channel.

Actors are , for lack of a better word, attention seeking prostitutes This is why for so long women werent allowed to act on stage, because it would destroy their reputation. If you think the vast majority of actors are guided by anything other than where they can get paid the most or get the most attention then I assume you are either a child physically or mentally. But maybe its better to live in delusion, maybe its a happier life

Lol. This is such blatant psychologising of entire russian civilization. Where snyder the Gandalf has been bestowed with otherwise fantastical powers to take a leap into the general russian psyche , The Russian Psyche, and know their true intentions, probably even if russians themselves are unaware of their own intentions. For some reason, the complete lack of awareness of western intellectual, to not even acknowledge a different perspective on things, is patently western. How fascistic was monroe doctrine?

I think the main threat to nativity and family values, are two factors: 1. Rampant inequality and the destruction of the middle class world wide. The state is getting poorer, the middle class are getting poorer, and the poor are getting poorer. Only the mega-rich thrive these days. This is super ironic since the left has ruled for so long in big parts of the west, but instead of taxing the rich they do feminism and identity politics. 2. Hypergamy and the tendency of women to be too picky in the modern dating culture. They aim too high on the sexual market, and never get settled down. But probably this is boosted with the rampant inequality.

Liberal democracy to save Russia? The only problem is that democracy itself is failing in the west. We have learnt the hard way that Karl Schmidt was right, and that the liberal democracy cannot resolve the true conflicts of modern society. We are at a point where we need a total deconstruction of the western democracy, and return to some degree of tribalism and freedom somehow. I like Putin, because even if he is a de-facto a king, he is at least honest about it in contrast to the leaders and the elites of the west. I think we should just abolish democracy at this point, and go back to tribalism and feudalism. A republic based on freedom should replace democracy. Maybe we can still have democracy, but then only in some limited form.

This interview was a ywaer ago, so maybe Prof. Snyder knows more about our nation now. I doubt it because he seems to be caught in the academic bubble. He should have found out most of the evidence against Trump was made up from Hillary Clinton paying the Russians to falsify evidence. Blacks and Hispanics had actually done better under Trump because of opportunities that he provided them than whites. Even whites did better under Trump than under Joe Biden. The violent riot on January 6th 2020 was definitely NOT a violent attempt to overthrow an election. United States has paid a terrible price for accepting a corrupted election results offered by States where Govenors and State officials violated our United States Constitution. It is the Democrat Party that is Fascist. This proven by them using made up crimes to prosecute Trump and they way they illegally go after anybody they don't like even Democrats.

Fascim is a Progressive idea developed in places such as Bohemian Grove in Europe which was brought over to "elite" universities in our United States. While Progressives such as Margaret Sanger, George Bernard Shaw. President Woodrow Wilson and President Franklin D. Roosevelt. The National German Workers party (NAZI) was one of several formed after World World One started by people who was upset WW1 did not cause the international Socialist revolt Lenin and Trosky predicted. The workers fought for their own royalist nations. People such as Mussolini and Hitler would later join this parties. Mussolini was a member of the Socialist Party in Europe before joining the Fascist party. The NAZI Party would take their Ideal of population control, reducing and eliminating any racial group except their own, and gas chambers from the American Democrat Party. While Prof. Synder is a very interesting individual he appears to have his own personalized history and conception of strong government and strong states being good things. This sounds like the World Economic Forum (,WEF) which is made uo of "stakeholders" to take of the world and the choices I people want to make for themselves.

One of the thing I absolute hate is how people miss uses the word whether intentionally or not, when Progresses say misuses the were even with it was accidently as long as long as it serves their interest itbecomes the new go to definition. The word "privatized" is to take something that is control by government sold or given to individuals to be own and run by an individual or group of individuals. So Putin's reinterpretation of history was not "privatized" but "personalized." This is because Putin gave his own personal as history. If Putin has this Putin's version of history taught in government schools or businesses then he "governmentized," the history. Now some may say "govermentized" is not a word, miss the fact that that noun is being used in the appropriate way (adjective) as other words with that ending and no other word fits what I am trying to describe. The words fascim and fascist are not used appropriately. The refer to a type oligarchy government state were a small group of businessmen control the government that promotes socialist values (make rules for the good of ruled people using equaty not wquality). Equaty is where every has the same out come. Equaty destroys individual freedom and initiative. Aristocracies were in fact tyoes of Socialist governments with the rulers having hereditary titles. Russia fits the definition definition must is moving to a communist system. While Communism is defined as a system where government ensure everyone gets what determined by he needs. Since government (The State) decides what everyone needss the "elite" get are treated unequal to the poor as this is what the "STATE" needs. So the State takes a successifull businessman business because the "State" needs this government official to run this business for the good of the proletariat. This what has been occurring in Russia. Fascim started as a Progreessive ideal delvope

He critiques the cartoonishly positive imperial histories but seems to be on the opposite negative end. By smearing this world imperial onto everything and not grappling with the nuances, difference, within imperialism are you that much better than your opponents? Imperial/colonial projects did encounter backwardness.

@@MeeesterBond17 Probably because you've been brainwashed by your media to the point that you now think everybody disagreeing with you is a Russian (bot). You tell me what happened in 2021 though. Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022, if that was what your hinting at. Anyways, if you're Dutch we can settle this easily. Dutch is my mother tongue. My knowledge of Russian is limited, though I have been learning it for a couple of years. And about the church again, you might have not heard me: I am Orthodox, that's why my profile picture is the Church of Christ the Saviour in Moscow. Don't be so paranoid. There is a documentary by adam curtis called traumazone on youtube with hundreds of hours of footage from the soviet union taken by bbc reporters from the late 80s to early 00s, curtis edited the material and reduced it to more or less 10 hours. Mostly just the footage itself with some subtitles for context, and none or very little narration. For me it has been helpfull to understand the russian history in context to the WW1 a 2 and now the war in ukrania. I mention this because listening to the interview i was reminded of this documentary, specially the idea of humilliation. I think its the first time i heard it put that way and definetly the documentary shows that ambiguity of the russian experience

43:00 Yeah. There's no understanding whatsoever in Russia, and only a limited understanding within the immigrant communities in Europe, that when your country, a fascist and totalitarian dictatorship, wages a genocidal war against one of its neighbors and e.g. conducts attacks against the energy infrastructure of others, that that might impact their passport rating. Russians have no sense of responsibility or even reciprocity. The ability to view the actions of one's own country from the point of view of the victims of aggression is missing completely. This probably stems from Russian propaganda being successful in painting the aggressors as victims, but on the other hand, that even the liberals in Russia see themselves as entitled to treating others however and not face any consequences. Whether it's imperialist entitlement and exceptionalism or something else, it doesn't look good. Russia's neighbors have to look out for their own interests first, Ukraine's second, and their other allies third. I'm sorry but their enemies aren't their first priority.

He knows how Putin will deport the Ukrainian school teachers, import Russian indoctrination agents and "re-educate" the children to "who they really are" to a frightening level. How Putin pushes the cult of innocence like the Rethuglican party here is trying to whitewash our history.

The media ownership has decided to play God and provide us with a narrative of their choosing...facts have, absolutely, nothing to do with it unless it advances that narrative.
