I live in UK so can't say for certain. Some people have passed an MOT with it, some have failed. Personally I just put the original back on for the MOT
Virago is much smoother too , and for a such small bike its pretty fast and light ... easy to ride in the corners too ... shadow is a bit slow, bulky and a bit heavier to manouver ...but if i were u ... in case u choose shadow ... go for bigger one ..750 ... the 600 is really not that fun ... it vibrating like hell in 90km/h ... but i love my Virago ... i bought first honda cb500x almost new ... but then i tried this ... and the cb500x is staying in garage ever since .
That's a cool virago! ! I didn't know there was a 535cc for the first time. I ride a 400cc Japanese domestic spec bike somewhere between a cafe racer and an American. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eM6Qcp1k4gY.html
Great bike. Just the right amount of power, to be fun. Used to run mine in a higher gear and the surge when winding it on was exhilarating, without being mind bogglingly stupid. One of Yamahas unsung heroes.
I used to have one. At the time I bought forward control for it. It changes everything. The feeling of riding It can't be matched. Now I have the 250 vstar. But I am planning on going back to the 535cc It Is totally different. It never struggles.
Love it. Mostly you ride the way I do (cx 500 custom, a very similar experience) However a tad caution on overtaking at laybys 1:13 will keep the fun coming. People tend to pull out of them fast when they see a camper van, to keep ahead of it.
@@ibendover472 It’s a good first bike, very easily manoeuvrable for a cruiser type of motorcycle. And reliable. Only part I’ve changed over 25 years is starter motor.
Hey Morkus! Great videos you make, and great bike you have. I also have a 535, and I have to ask you, have you noticed any issues with the Blackwidow exhausts? I know aftermarket exhausts are not the best for motorcycles, but I just can't stand how the stock market exhaust sounds, especially at high speed. There's this almost bird-like whiz that I just think completely ruins it for me. The Blackwidow ones are fairly prices and I've heard good things about their support. Is it too much of a hassle to install them? Thanks a lot!
Hey man, I don't have the 535 anymore. But I had it with the blackwidow exhausts for about 2 years, they are veeery loud but I definitely recommend ! Only problem is the installation, for the exhaust on the side its quite tricky to get to the bolts connecting to the manifold. But once you have done it once, its not too bad. If you end up getting them and have any issues feel free to message me and I can try help you out 👍🏻
Oh, also. I changed the jets on my carburettors and messed about with the air/fuel intake screw to get it right. But its pretty easy to do both these steps.
@@morkus17 Thanks a lot buddy! Will definitely get the Blackwidow then! What made you get rid of the Virago?? What would be your overall rating of it?? Hahaha I personally love it, but I do wish it did not feel like it struggled at highway speeds. An extra gear would feel much smoother at high speeds tbh
@@IndependentVictorI wanted a bigger bike that I can do miles on more comfortably. If I had enough money I would of kept it ! It was a fun torquey little bike with character. It certainly had its flaws, pretty much everything you can expect from a lightweight '96 cruiser though.
@@morkus17 Understandable man! I will try to keep mine as long as possible but I can definitely see its drawbacks for long distance trips and, that lack of gasoline level gauge is a pain in the ass sometimes, especially keeping in mind the reserve fuel switch usually breaks over time. Anyway, thanks for making these videos. I think they are a great contribution for anyone wondering how it feels to ride a Virago 535. Cheers and drive safe!
