When somebody asks me, why I love motorcycles, I will show them this video. Of course, you won't get the feeling and joy of riding but you can imagine for sure.
Great bike. Just the right amount of power, to be fun. Used to run mine in a higher gear and the surge when winding it on was exhilarating, without being mind bogglingly stupid. One of Yamahas unsung heroes.
Love the virago 535 stunning bike.................one day very soon I will own one...just looking for the right one 🙂 Amazing . So glad found video as was swaying to get a modern bike as not found the right virago but after hearing and watching this deffo gonna wait and keep looking
me personally I'm looking to get a 750, although to be honest there isn't much of a difference, both are awesome, I just prefer the looks of the 750 engine and the dash setup (I don't like not having a rev meter lol) my nanna rode both, she loved the 535, it's just her 750 is still somewhat around whilst her 535 isn't otherwise I'd be going for that first lol. I hope you find your perfect 535 :)
These exhausts sounds great! Awesome! I like it very much! My ex has a same type bike too, I think she should see this video. Man, you are fast! I wish you good health and many more miles with your bike! Greetings from Hungary: Vidék
Love it. Mostly you ride the way I do (cx 500 custom, a very similar experience) However a tad caution on overtaking at laybys 1:13 will keep the fun coming. People tend to pull out of them fast when they see a camper van, to keep ahead of it.
@@ibendover472 It’s a good first bike, very easily manoeuvrable for a cruiser type of motorcycle. And reliable. Only part I’ve changed over 25 years is starter motor.
@@morkus17 thanks man. I'm saving my money to get this bike for my next project. Might need to change the whole frame to the rigid one though since I'm not a big fan of the current frame it had.
Thanks for sharing this great vidio of some amazing scenery and a beautiful sounding Virago..Please can I ask you where you purchased your bigger main jets from..
Virago is much smoother too , and for a such small bike its pretty fast and light ... easy to ride in the corners too ... shadow is a bit slow, bulky and a bit heavier to manouver ...but if i were u ... in case u choose shadow ... go for bigger one ..750 ... the 600 is really not that fun ... it vibrating like hell in 90km/h ... but i love my Virago ... i bought first honda cb500x almost new ... but then i tried this ... and the cb500x is staying in garage ever since .
I used to have one. At the time I bought forward control for it. It changes everything. The feeling of riding It can't be matched. Now I have the 250 vstar. But I am planning on going back to the 535cc It Is totally different. It never struggles.
Absolutely stunning. What a beautiful video and edition. How do you keep the ND16 filter on the GoPro and attached to the helmet? Is there a special GoPro case for that? I've found that particular combo of ND filter and 30fps recording to be the most realistic and most beautiful. And also, is that audio just recorded from the goPro alone? You have a separate audio recorder right?
Thank you ! The ND filter I use just clips on to the lens, no special case needed. I tried using a separate audio recorder but found I am just as happy using a wind muff case that goes over the camera. It's so much cheaper and means a lot less faffing about with separate audio.
Cheers ! No intake mods. Just got bigger jets (117.5 I believe) because the stock jets on this model were way too small for some reason and were actually giving me running issues..
what year is your xv535? I have a '96 with the black widow drags and I've noticed some lean burbles and a small flat spot around the 4k rev mark, so I'm slightly intrigued if you've done the jets or changed air filter?
I have a '96 UK model. Sounds like you have the exact same issue I had, took me way longer than it should of to sort it ! All you need to do is take a look at your jets, if they are 107.5, order a couple of bigger ones. (I went for 117.5 but could go up to 137.5) After installing those it felt like a brand new bike runs great now ! For some reason on this model the jets are way too small and causes flat spots etc.
@@morkus17 I know they made the xv535 run fairly lean as standard but black widow did use to advertise they required no rejet for the drag pipes, I just checked their site incase its changed and the no rejet bit has gone, I've gotta replace some hoses so I'll check the jets and give it a try, I did think your exhaust note sounded a tad beefier and smoother, cheers for the info on the Jets I'll give that a go, roll on the warmer weather
@@charlie_sin_mag They are very loud, I don't ride at night for that reason. If you have neighbours and are getting home at 3am they probably aren't a good idea for you. There is a different set of blackwidows available that come with mufflers, still better sounding than the original imo and look good
@@morkus17 I had seen them, I guess this time I'll have to go with function over form... Sucks haha. Hope you post more riding videos, great quality and sound from these
Really nice bike , and really nice sound! Just a quick question im planning on buying this bike and i wonder about the fuel consumption per 100km. For example some friends of mine tell me tha the xv400 have about 8 litters per 100 km , so i wonder how much does this one?
@@johnel4005 I managed to get just over 100mph on my bike which is pretty damn good, some people struggle with top speed on these. Mine wasnt really modified that much either just the exhaust and some bigger floats.
@@johnel4005 Apparently its 13.5L in total. I just paid attention to how many miles I was doing so I didnt run out of fuel in the middle of nowhere lol
@@thetwogardens6048 Cool ! If you are looking to cruise at motorway speeds or do long rides I'd say go for a bigger bike. Don't get me wrong the 535 is capable of doing these things but you would be more comfortable on a bigger bike. For cruising around and some longer rides this bike is great, handles very well and has pretty decent power.
This was my first ever bike. Actually still own it but never ride it anymore. Fixing her up to sell it. Wanting to buy my wife a harley. Had fun on it tho. Only thing i hated was its poor range
The thing I hated most was having to remove that ridiculous exhaust system just to get the swing arm off. Or maybe it was the electric fuel reserve switch never working properly making me have to push the cunt! Was nice enough to ride. Don't think I'd buy another though.
@@jwatson9732 Yeah the reserve fuel magnetic switch getting stuck is a common fault..also rusty main fuel tank. Wee bit of a faff to sort out but not complicated.
Somethings definitely not right there lol Have you joined the Virago Owners Facebook group ? They are a very helpful bunch. If you're struggling make a post and you'll get some sound advice 👍🏻I'm also happy to help
@@morkus17 I have not but ill look into joining that group. I've replaced afew easy things on my own like the fule pump and starter solenoid relay. And it runs perfectly I think. Just can't get it over 75
