I wish there was a way to do the polygon framing with the original d1. I have the d1 10w and infrared. Too much of an investment to just try and ssve uo to switch to a newer model. Had to wait until after my brain surgery to really get started using it and the companies definitely evolved a lot since then 😂 Very beautiful though!
Thank you so much for this video, it is by far the best and most complete beginner's guide I have come across. I have owned mine for several months and still had questions. Thanks again for the Review and examples. I do have one question. How did you get the honeycomb installed? Did you cut it to fit for use with the knife? Where can we purchase it.
I don't push my machine's, in fact I probably run them slower than most. If you have a look in Shapeoko groups, you'll get a better idea on the limits of the machine.
@@MakeTechCreate Thanks for the reply. I figured something had to be wrong, but couldn't get a response from the manufacturer. I've submitted for a refund.
Very informative video. Love the step by step process you shared with us. I have an S1 40w & 2w head. Have you ever done a video on how you create your designs? Thanks for sharing your talent.
Sorry, no I haven't this machine. But, if you look through my channel I do have video on making things like Boxes with a CO2 laser witch can easily be adapted to xtool.
@@roenick1798 yeah I was like young Sheldon but from a low income broken home so now I just live in the forest and run a science class for local kids about making electric motors out of Lego, wire and magnets and like maths and stuff (this is a gross oversimplification)
Good demo, thanks. Can't blame the dremel for the condition of the MDF. MDF is made of sawdust and glue so it won't leave a perfect edge. Hope you were wearing a mask! Try cutting real timber next time and compare the results. Now I'm off to play with my circle cutter and straight edge guide for the first time.
I just searched too and it seems to be out of stock everywhere 😫 Try brush on black Tempera paint instead. It's also washable and works well for engraving.
My settings are in the main video here : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wg8gm-VwLjA.html They both give slightly different results. I would say to try both and decide which one you like.
I don't know much about veneer, are they actual wood? Are they a plastic? Do they vary in what they are made of? I ask because I am curious if there are possible risks to etching/cutting these materials.
On the "Maple Wood Veneer Sheet - Peel and Stick" stickers, or any of the thin veneer stickers, do they wrap around items like a tumbler without cracking/splitting (assuming you rotated the grain in the correct position before engraving)?
Great job on the tutorial, your attention to detail and easy to understand instructions were great! And…you gave us links to the materials you used, that’s the cherry on top! Thank you! Time to do some ordering and designing.
