Today we'll be looking at making Laser Cut Box Design with Integrated Hinges and laser engraving a Norse Theme onto it.
For this project, I'll be using my 50-watt co2 laser cutter.
The wood that we laser cut in this project 1/8" or 3mm Baltic Birch plywood and we'll be staining the wood boxes with a water-based stain.

Cool box! Could you tell me if you would need to change settings other than thickness for 7mm stock?

Yes you would. Cut a couple small tests of the finger joints until you get it fittinf the way you like.

@@MakeTechCreate Thanks yeah I have the joints at a good place I just cant seem to get the hinge. It looks ok on boxes but when you bring it to lightburn in the preview, the pin for the hinge is double the size it should be and cuts through the arc.

@DreamingTheLifeLivingTheDream I would have to look at the file to see what's wrong. Have you tried generating your own box from scratch from the laser box generator to see if that works.

Can I ask how you came to use the 0.07 burn correction (kerf)? Would that be standard for everyone using this SVG or something you discovered with your particular machine? Cheers!

I would use Boxes,py to make a regular hexagon and then edit the vector files into the coffin shape. Thanks for watching.

Infinity knots and patterns are Celtic not Norse. Norse and Irish share this cultural totem because of the Celtic empire. The empire is best defined and tracked by the spread of language and culture. As Rome basically erased the empire only cultures beyond the reach of Rome retained the Celtic aesthetic as it is very powerful. Celtic culture predates organized Norse culture be 1-2 thousand years. Fun facts amazing box!
