Since people love quotes with a profound meaning behind them, here's one that isn't that at all: "If an orange and a watermelon wear the same sized baseball cap, they can both see that it simply doesn't work."
As a lover of raccoons I appreciate this so much! Thank you. If you need additional footage for music videos you’ll want to check out my channel. Wild raccoons play instruments, sports, creating art, celebrating holidays, and much more. What a beautiful ode to a marvelous species!!!!! 😃🤎🦝
the film was crap, portraying the black slaves smiling and clapping near the beginning of the film when the new confederate troops were marching, I doubt that happened in real life, it should have shown whipped colored people, that would have been more realistic. And not just the disney-like portrayal of slavery, the actors themselves acted like a theatre play, not like the real acting of Gettysburg, that film showed a 50-50 point of view of both sides, and the acting was more normal, Lee (martin sheen) was more human than the robotic Robert Duvall in G&Gs (no offence to Robert Duvall, he is a great actor in most films).
Yeah, this movie on the whole is gross lost cause propaganda. I think Roger Ebert said “if a movie about ww2 were handled this way, there’d be hell to pay.”
So every civil war movie supposed to have a black person who was in the south acting miserable? My friend you need to stop looking at history from a modern lens.
Chamberlain was a man of high ideals, but I prefer the more personal view expressed by Buster in “Gettysburg.” “I damn all gentlemen- and that is why we’ve got to win this war.”
His speech to the Maine prisoners that his regiment had to take in was even better than this, spoke to our nations purpose and beginnings as much as the war’s purpose
I feel this movie while not the greatest, gets a bad rap as confederate propaganda, when in actuality there was to be a third movie that was going to be showing the Union position in depth, so it’s an incomplete trilogy, Gettysburg was great and timeless and this one suffers because it’s incomplete of sorts since the third movie was never made making it seem like it was a blatant attempt at neo-confederate lost cause type propaganda when in actuality it was never the aim of this movie for the mere fact it was never supposed to be a stand alone film.

Bowdoin College produced some tremendous soldiers. Joshua Chamberlain, and MOH winner Everett Pope, who went to school with Ack Ack Haldane, who is considered to be one of finest battlefield Marine Officers of WW2
Good acting ... Good film. But it was a film and this war was NOT about slavery. This is how todays myth that the white man is solely responsible for slavery came about. Does it ever get mentioned about how the slaves got to the coast in Africa because it sure as hell wasn't white men bringing them there, or capturing them in the first place . He was a great commander and his defence of little round top was out of all proportion in terms of importance to the Union, and the USA today but you know this kind of shit happens in every war on all sides don't you ? Men do brave things but to hijack it to somehow show the inherent "goodness" of his cause is what is being done here and my God does it cause trouble still to this day.
It may not have been the opening reason for the war but as it went on it become one of the reasons. Even if slavery still in place you were still going to see rebellions all over the country to end slavery in the near future
The north might not have been fighting to free the slaves initially but the south were sure as hell fighting to keep them. Read any primary document from the formation of the confederacy.
@@MichaelCasanovaMusic you just don't like the fact that were given the South in this movie's a semi sympathetic face. So what we don't supposed to feel sorry for the southerners who were troops and civilians?
I believe that he said that he would sacrifice either one of them in the cause of freedom. That's totally different than saying "I'm sure going to miss you." :-)
