Love this song and music so much. Drummer really gives it a good kick. All the instruments are unique in it, bass guitar has its part, chorus, lead guitar. I know every note to this in my head. Awesome 5 star song.
Just listened to the studio version of this again. Reminded of how rock was mixed back in the day. Vocals were a part of the band, just another instrument, not sitting out the front like everything is these days. Such a cohesive locked in sound.
Great arrangement … where it totally goes up gears is last verse sung an octave up and same with the last chorus leading into the Kicks…. Hair on the back of your neck stuff. Kenny Aronoff, very similar drummer to Rob Hirst from Midnight Oil.
This is one of the best live performances you will see from anyone. The band is absolutely locked in. Aronoff and Grissom are on fire, John is in great voice as are his back-up singers, and he's owning the stage. And Lisa Germano is the secret weapon here.
